Houlihan must have broken team rules(on field), I can't see any other reason for him being dropped. There were certaintly worse players in the Blues line up on the week end. I would expect him to play this week, especially for the reason that they sucked on the weekend.

This is pathetic. The most important time to access this bloody site and you can't get on. It's the same with the Dream Team site.

Surely there can't be that many more people accessing these sites than usual. I'll be spewing if I can't get on before lockout.

Topic for discussion:

Steve Johnson as a SC player.

Question: Johnson has had his breakout DT year, but is he ready to really breakout in SC?

Against NM on the weekend Johnson had:

D Eff% K H G B CM UM T CLE C _SC SCAVG
31 61_26 5 0 2 0 _ 7_ 3 _2 _5_ 100 105

And also:

FF FA CP UP I50 A
1_ 0 _ 5_ 26 13 4

13 Inside 50's!!! and 4 assists!!! With Ablett and Chapman out for the week he got more run through the middle, but as a general observation he has been a better DTer than SCer

The impact he had on the game in my opinion was worth more than 100 SC points. Obviously the 61% efficiency let him down along with 5 clangers and relatively low Contested Possies. But thinking of all the hundreds that players have scored this year......14 inside 50's and he only just got the 3 figures?????

Thinking about the SC score weighting, the Cats had the game in control pretty early. This was when SJ was doing his best work, surely the weighting would have rewarding this early scoring. The other factor may have been that Jimmy, Kelly et al all had big games and this took away from SJ's efforts.

What does everyone else think about SJ in Supercoach. He is a creative player and often in trying to create goals he goes for options that either come off and result in a goal, or the risk doesn't pay off and there is a turnover.

If SJ could improve his efficiency he would be a top gun. What worries me though is if he has a quiet game his low efficiency can mean low scores. Will he be a better scorer than a J. Brown? Will SJ finish in the top 7 SC forwards?

Thoughts appreciated,

Cheers

Ah, my man.

He is a consistent ball-getter but his game doesn't suit SuperCoach. I have never had him and I've played every season since the game began.

A lot of his play is based on the unlikely play, which is not necessarily a selfish shot at goal but, for example, a centreing kick to the top of the goal square. Quite often assists like this don't go to hand and are not 'effective'.

Good, but not great, SuperCoach scorer.

I think he will be a better scorer than J Brown by seasons end based purely on the amount of inside 50s Geelong generate into the forward line and also the fact that he has the flexibility to play up the ground and get more of the ball in those areas as well.He finds the ball often no matter where he plays and kicks goals consistantly and the only thing that stops him from getting the big scores is his effiency at times as you highlighted mainly because he likes to kick the ball around corners often which can affect effiency. In saying that he has had scores of over 100 5 times out of the 8 games with his lowest score being 69 and when you consider there are only about 6 forwards averaging over 100 atm his average of 105 for the price he is is good value as i believe he can maintain it over the course of the season.
Browns only had 2 scores above 100 this year against Ess and Carl who are 2 teams that like to leak goals and being a Lions fan ive watched most of the Lions games and Brown has been double teamed in a lot of those games whereby he hasnt scored well which has affected his scoring
so i would stick with Johnson

with broughton and cheney dropped, hodge sitting injured on the bench, and greenwood not close to getting named, i need to trade cheney for a defender who is 390 000 or less.

looking for someone who will play every game and should score alot better in the second half of the season, atleast averaging 80.

here are my options:

graham johncock
harry taylor
brent guerra
marty clarke
max rooke
joel mcdonald
luke mcpharlin
campbell brown
nick malceski

thoughts?

why not trade out cheney and hodge and get 2 better defenders?

if ur absolutely set on someone from that list, i'd go for marty clarke

im running really low on trades, thought id wait for hodge to come back and just use the one trade to get someone who will play everygame and average about 80 without going to much under 70 all season.

hodge shouldnt be more then two more weeks out should he?
