2009 Trade Discussion- Part 7

I dont think it is worth using a trade to gain 40 points for one week when everyone else is in the same boat with having cox and no back up

Usually i'd agree, but i'm still in the eliminator and every point counts.

Also, by 'depending on the circumstances' i meant that i would do it if by some freak accident i drawn the only person still in the eliminator without him. :D

Finally, NicNat will do much better than 40 points if Cox is out. Especially against Hawthorn.

Its not worth wasting a trade just to get one more week out of eliminator mate. Unless you consider yourself a serious threat to the title (eliminator that is) id keep the trade for league finals/general upgrades.

ellis or hodge? help!!
Both are suseptable to injury, however:
- Hodge is playing in defence, Ellis in the midfield.
- Hodge is getting tagged or even double teamed. I reckon Ellis is a fair way down the tagging pecking order of opponents.
- I think Ellis' latest injury was an ankle, which is less likely to recur than Hodge's groin injury.
But Hodge is a champion.
I picked Ellis over Hodge last week and am glad I did.

Grr! Nothing went like I expected to. But oh well, still only my first DT year, I'll learn not to take too many risks.

My team at the moment is gonna require some treatment... But only have 7 trades left!

Backs- Goddard, Gilbee, Harding, Ryder, Mackie, Grimes, Rance (Chornes, Suban)
Mids- Swan, Bartel, Gibbs, M.Murphy, Kornes, Rich (Muston, Cockie) (I should have bloody gone Debour!!)
Rucks- Cox, Kreuzer (Spencer, Meesen)
Forwards- Pavlich, Deledio, Giansiracusa, Higgins, Franklin, Brennan, Dale Thomas (M.Brown, Warren)

The bold ones need an upgrade, the underlined one is currently grinding my gears!

What are your thoughts on this trade
Nathan Brown > Alan Didak

My only doubts are this would leave me with 4 trades with one upgrade left in Sidebottom.
So two trades are already put away for Broughton > Cheap bloke Sidebottom > Riewoldt.

This leaves me with two trades for injuries for the rest of the year
thoughts?

Done this last week! and got 140 points for it:D

Don't think I'd do it, but I could do the following trades:

Muston -> Cross
Geary -> Hodge.

Leaving me with 5 trades.

Leaving me with Grimes as my 7th defender when Cornes returns (Broughton and Petrenko covering)
Midfield complete. (Ablett, Bartel, Gibbs, Kornes, Cooney, Cross with Anthony and Cockie as Emg.)
Rucks fine. (Cox, Petrie with Jacobs and Spencer... :S)
Forwards are a worry though, with Goodwin and Nathan Brown currently being covered by Nahas and Mitch Brown. (Riewoldt, Pav, Deledio, Higgins and Franklin other forwards)

Hey guys,
I was just thinking:
Is it better to hold onto Rich/whomever as a 6th Mid and save a trade.

Then you can use that trade to downgrade a bench cover to make some more cash (+1 cash cow) and then make (say) your final 2 upgrades to premiums (+$400,000's rather than $350,000's)?

This way you get an extra $100,000 from not upgrading.

This is my first year and i'm still trying to grasp the reasoning behind us DT'ers trading out a performing/non injured player.

i have a nice overall ranking and having a crack at the car, i was thinking of trading hase to say nds, power, thompson.
is it worth it.

cheers

need to upgrade zieball this week
however i need to downgrade either hartlett or garlett to get someone reasonable

Option 1: Out: Hartlett, Zieball,
In: Anthony or other 86k mid, Didak

Option 2: Out: Garlett, Zieball.
In: Walters/Ballantyne, Brennan/Brown

Option 3: Out Hartlett, Zieball
In Brennan/Brown , Anthony + 50K

Option 4: This week Out:Hartlett, In: Anthony
Next Week: Out Zieball, In: Leon

Really unsure atm
Opinions would be great:thumbsu:

considering i have sidebottam covering in the forwards i wont cop a 0
however i might have a 0 in the mids if hartlett and pendlebury dont play.

so im thinking either option 1 or option 4
thoughts?

Got Graham and he has a huge break even and will go down a great deal this week. Only playing for my league win and I am set in the top 2. Have Cox and my opponent does not. Do people still think that I should trade him out? Loss does not really hurt me, and I could lose $30,000 by not trading him this week. If trade him out, is Currie the best option?

If Cox is in doubt, and you Graham as cover, then surely youd keep Graham?

Hase is averaging around 84ppg

NDS is averaging around 103ppg

That's an extra 190pts over the next 10 games which is not bad given that you can virtually do a straight swap without adding more money to the trade. However, is this trade worth it? Only you could answer that as you are the only one who knows how many trades you have left, how many more upgrades you need to make or if you have a better upgrade candidate that could perhaps give you more points over the next 10 games then the Hase to NDS trade and above all how many extra ppg you will need to catch up to the leader.

Personally I'd be looking at the rest of my team to identify if there are other upgrade options that could offer more points for the rest of the season than the Hase to NDS trade. Failing that I'd be looking to upgrade Hase to someone who could give me 110-115ppg for the rest of the season if money and trades aren't an issue.

I'm about 700 short of going Suban>Pearce, M Brown>Didak :(

I have 11 trades and 56,100 spare...

thinking of going Suban>Pearce, Rodan>Gun Mid

will have 438K which means the likes of Selwood, NDS, Davis, Goodes...already have ABC would Selwood be overkill?

Then the week after it will be Collins>Meyer probably with Petrenko/Greenwood>better defender (should have at least 370K for a defender)

That would leave me 1 forward needed.

My last positions are currently covered by Suban, Greenwood, Petrenko (Def), Collins, Rodan, Anthony(mid), S Wright, Ballantyne, M Brown (Fwd)

When will Hayden Ballantyne debut and even if he does debut this week, is Michael Walters a better option if I am thinking of cashing in Tex Walker?

So I guess I am asking Ballantyne v Walters

(both would be my final forward option as Sidebottom currenlty occupies the other bench position)

Ballantyne.

Narrowed down my final two upgrades.

Pavlich and Hodge/Ellis/Bock/Carrazzo

or

Lockyer and Brennan/Goodwin.

Cover in the backs is Broughton and Suban and in the fowards Ballantyne and Thompson:(

Any ideas?

Pav and Ellis, easy.

Mixed responses :D. Going to have to look into it further. My foward cover worries me a lot though where as the backs will be almost guranteed the rest of the year.

does anyone think houlihan to ellis is a waste of a trade I have 9 left, I want to bring in Kornes aswell but not sure who I should get or if I should even bother with ellis now.

last 2 backmen I need to upgrade is houlihan and grimes if I ever do :(

hey guys,

For once I'm in a good position with my team with no real injuries to worry about.

My weaknesses in each position is as follows;

B: Houlihan, Grimes, and Broughton (Hill and Suban on the Bench)
C: Haselby (Harlett, Anthony)
F: Skipworth (Ballantyne, M.Austin)

My back bench is particularly strong, and I am looking to do an on-field upgrade.

Now, it's almost a certainty for me to get rid of Suban> Pearce this week.

But who would you upgrade?

Hill > Any player under 350k

or

Grimes > Any backmen except for Duffield.

The rest of my backline is Hodge, Goddard, Mackie and Fisher.

Thoughts would be appreciated and it should be noted I think you provide great insight and provided me with lots of advice over this year. :)

Any one?

The question that therein lies is whether you'd rather Hill as emergency with Lockyer (for example) on field or Grimes/Broughton as emergency with Gilbert/Carrazzo/Drummond on field?
