Geary --> Hodge

I am worried Geary's 16's aren't going to go away in a hurry and hodge is basically the same price this week

I'm also looking at trading Geary but not sure whether to do Hodge or Ellis. Thoughts? Did you think about getting Ellis?

I reckon Geary to Hodge is a good trade. Come the finals, I would much rather Hodge in my back line than Geary.
Does anyone think Broughton is good enough to be a keeper (7th best back)? In 5 games, his lowest score is 59, he’s scored > 100 twice, and averages 83. I was going to trade Houlihan for Hodge and make Broughton my emergency, but maybe I should play Broughton every week, trade Houlihan for (say) Clancee and upgrade a forward to Reiwoldt. Thoughts on Broughton?

Yeah im really considering dropping Houlihan for Broughton permanately and even considering playing Grima ahead of Houlihan while Cornes is injured.

This time of season it all comes down to what you are after...

I was originally thinking murphy - but am now changing that to only go for premium premiums (you like that?)

However i am only after a league win. So for me i am targetting SJ in the forwards, 2 of Ablett, Bartel and Swan, and Goddard in the backs,

The only exception - is I think I'll get Hodge - who was a premium premium in the backs before the start of the year.

however if you are after overall points - and you can get murphy in 2 weeks as opposed to Riewoldt in 4/5 weeks - you just have to do the calc as to what your total points may be with Murphy for 8 weeks or Roo for 5 weeks plus your rookies for 3

I'm 2K short of doing Ziebell to NDS so my options now are either
Priddis, Boyd, Power, Deledio, or Cooney.

I'm leaning towards Boyd although Cooney is tempting as he has averaged 110 over the last month and looks to be back to his best.

I know they're going to sound like bad trades but this week I'm seriously considering
Hill->Pearce
Muston->Priddis

Muston hasn't peaked yet but he's playing on my field and I don't know how much longer I can trust his scores and place in the Hawks side. Drummond and Cornes are sitting on my backline bench at the moment with Hill and Broughton covering, so I'm going to wind up with some serious cash sitting on the bench.

I'm also considering going Drummond->Pearce and Sidebottom->Volt and just playing Broughton as my 7th back. They've been shown to have similar ceilings and are averaging fairly close to each other. You'd think Broughton has a spot for the year now.

Muston and Sidebottom are the only two players left in my team to upgrade. My forwardline bench is fairly strong with Brown/Ballentyne but my mids are a fair bit weaker with Cockie and Antony both not getting a game.

I could wait a few weeks and milk some more cash cows to try and get Ablett and Volt in for League finals but I'm also keen to try stay in the eliminator. Like the look of Priddis' run home too. Plus I just love the man.

Thoughts or advice?

Why dont you keep backing him until he has either peaked in price, or he gets dropped - this seems to be the logical conclusion.

I think when deciding whether the time is right, you should consider:
a) Is the player selected this round?
b) Is he likely to rise much more? If No, a) becomes irrelevent unless there are other cows who arnt playing ready to be cashed in.
c) Will the value perceived in the upgrade target still be there if i dont upgrade? Ie what is his breakeven/form/previous record against upcoming teams?

For once I'm in a good position with my team with no real injuries to worry about.

My weaknesses in each position is as follows;

B: Houlihan, Grimes, and Broughton (Hill and Suban on the Bench)
C: Haselby (Harlett, Anthony)
F: Skipworth (Ballantyne, M.Austin)

My back bench is particularly strong, and I am looking to do an on-field upgrade.

Now, it's almost a certainty for me to get rid of Suban> Pearce this week.

But who would you upgrade?

Hill > Any player under 350k

or

Grimes > Any backmen except for Duffield.

The rest of my backline is Hodge, Goddard, Mackie and Fisher.

Thoughts would be appreciated and it should be noted I think you provide great insight and provided me with lots of advice over this year.

So whats everyones thoughts on Selwood as a 6th mid, ideally Pendles would have score a 3 as it stated he did and drop 55k which never happened, but Selwood looks like he would be mabye the ideal pick up for those that done have him.

Im still wondering though mabye i wait untill towards the very end of the season for my final upgrade, im sitting second in my league, and thats all i am concentrating on.

Still definately concidering Selwood though, my mids would end up being:

ABLETT, BARTEL, SELWOOD, GIBBS, CORNES, CROSS.

Got 8 trades and $234,300

Bolded players are the ones I think I need to upgrade. The others are keepers or bench keepers.

Don't know where my 12 trades have gone, have a lot of upgrades left to do. So where do you think is in need of the most urgent upgrade. Or more importantly where can I spend my cash and trades to get me the most points?

Due to my lack of trades I can't afford to downgrade players and upgrade players to high premiums. Therefore I'm thinking of trades that save money like Houlihan to Ellis and Rich to Green which will cost me $44100 and give me two potentially 100 scorers. Or should I use up the cash on high end premiums?

To be Honest Mate id probably hold fire for a couple of rounds. Just coz you only have 4 trades left. Quite alot of ppl are saving 5-6 for LTI so 4 could be pushing it seeings we are only just past the half way point in the season.

ALso boughton is scoring pritty well and looks like he will hold his place for the rest of the season. Could be a great 6th or 7th defender. I know you may be losing points not having Didak but you are gonna loose a truck load more it you are coping 0's at the end of the season coz you ve ran outta trades.

Im in the same position as you mate. I got 6 trades left but have 2 Upgrades left so i will be left with about 3 trades for LTI. Thats why im holding off for a few rounds just to make sure i dont get to many more LTI and rund outta trades

With a bit of luck I can get both Didak and Lockyer into my team over the next 2 rounds, but it will require me to downgrade Rich to a 75k rookie. I was therefore thinking something like:

Rich > Meyer
Warren > Didak

Next week

Raines > Lockyer

It would give me about 6k wiggle room on Lockyer's price assuming he gets his average next week.

My more conservative move would be to trade Rich down to Anthony and get Lockyer this week, then swap Warren for Deledio.

I guess my question is - is it worth getting Didak with the risk that Meyer not play for the remainder of the season?

As it stands, the backs are ****ed up in my team as i have two injured players on the pine and am playing Houlihan, Grimes, and Broughton. This week i'll do Houlihan to either Lockyer or Enright, and hope that the other defenders come back ASAP. I might do another trade in this area depending on the Cox situation.

If Cox is in doubt then i'll do a trade to cover for him. I'll bring in NicNat for Jacobs.

I dont think it is worth using a trade to gain 40 points for one week when everyone else is in the same boat with having cox and no back up
