2010 Ladder Predictions

God. Just looked through the 2007 ladder predictions, alot of people had Geelong bottom 6, and a few had them bottom two, and they ended up winning by 119 points in the GF. I know its all for fun but we really have no hope of guessing this years ladder haha.

Do you know what's even funnier?
How you think whore-thorn will make the 8.

No-one expected us to make the 8 and we did. We have a shot at top 4.

Hawks are useless, they won't bounce back, I give the demons a better chance at top 8 than the hawks, hawks are a damaged side, with retirements hurting them. Wake up a little.
As far as I'm aware, we'll still have...
Franklin
Rioli
Mitchell
Hodge
Roughead
Sewell
Bateman
Lewis
Young
Birchall
Ellis
Guerra

Hell, we'll have the same 22 that won us a flag, minus Crawford and Dew....and we played more kids this year than we did in 2005 or 2006, yet you think next year we'll need to rebuild???
A good preseason and we're away.

Have a look at Geelong's 2006 season. We just completed our Annus horribilis.

As a neutral obserever, Freo are no where near West Coast. It wont be long before West Coast are challenging again. They have much better potential across all lines.

I pretty much randomized the bottom four (With Melbourne the highest but honestly we could end up with another spoon). Sydney could also slip below one of the teams in the bottom four also I think unless their older stars continue to fire.

is anyone going to change there predictions with Hall coming to the Bulldogs?

Good reason some haven't posted their predictions yet.

How would the Blues go +McLean?
Or the Bullies with Hall?
Mind you, if Burgoyne ends up at Hawthorn how does that place them?

WAYYYYY too early boys and girls.

You can't be writing the cats off to early, they still have another 2 years at the very top.

1. Geelong (Have too many stars, Grea team, most players still only 26 yrs of age)
2. St.Kilda (Will drop off a little, every team will be aware of how they play in 2010)
3. Hawthorn (Will come back after a terrible 2009 season, possibly go all the way in 2010).
4. Western Bulldogs(Great mix of players, need a full forward though)
5. Collingwood(Overated, not as good as people think)
6. Adelaide(Great mix of young players, don't think their a quality side yet)
7. Essendon(Yet again another team with a great mix of young players)
8. Carlton(No defence = Shit team, Carlton will make the top 8 but just)

9. Brisbane ( Done very well this season, but their star players are holding their team together: Brown, Black, Power etc.)
10. Melbourne (Looking like a team going somewhere, will start to improve)
11. West Coast Eagles (On the downfall after their 2006 triumph, but are hanging in their)
12. Sydney (Will be down the bottom for some time now, no where near good enough to challange the good teams)
13. North Melbourne (Shocking season for the Kangas, but they are only going to get worse)
14. Port Adelaide ( An absolute embarrasement, future wooden spooners)
15. Fremantle (Also an embarrasement, need a new coach, they are going nowhere)
16. Richmond
( With Hardwick now coach, the tigers will slowly creep up the ladder in years to come)

Premiers: Geelong
Runners-up: Western Bulldogs
Coleman Medal: Lance Franklin
Brownlow Medal: Gary Ablett
NAB rising star: Tom Scully

Wow! Victorian much?

The Eagles aren't on the downfall of 2006, we are on the up of the 2008 pits. How many times did you see them play in July/August?

You've said that at Geelong age isn't an issue. Yet the old guys are along the back line, Milburn - 32, Scarlett - 30, Harley - 31. You might be fitting your description of Carlton very quickly.

13. North Melbourne (Shocking season for the Kangas, but they are only going to get worse)

Pray tell AidanNelson2009, what outstanding logic do you have for such a doom laden comment?? I await enlightenment with great enthusiasm.

That's possibly the worst prediction I've seen yet; your explainations are misinformed at best and trolling at worst:thumbsdown:

That's possibly the worst prediction I've seen yet; your explainations are misinformed at best and trolling at worst:thumbsdown:

Every single eagles fan reckons it's their god given right to play finals next year, just because they finished half decently in the second half of last year.

Richmond fans thought the same at the start of last year, and look at them.

You might do well or you may not, but you don;t need to take it as a personal insult that someone puts them in the bottom 8 in a ladder prediction.

I couldn't find a previous post but thought I'd punt again on recent developments.

Western Bulldogs - Barry will help win games, but not finals... Griffen, Ward, Higgins, Cooney will pick up what is lost from Aker & Johno. Their age isn't going to stop them winning games... Not to mention the health issues of Gia, Murphy & Higgins this year. If things go right, they'll smash.
Hawthorn - Young list. Long Preseason. New Additions. Their name is in alot of rumours so they'll get at least one, if its Shaun Burgoyne that's even better. They'll find away to defend and they will certainly be able to score.
Adelaide - For NBA fans, they will be the Pheonix Suns a few years ago. Fast pace, lots of wins, not necessarily preimership material. Won't lose at AAMI.
St.Kilda - Maybe it's me but Voldt and a few of the rest look tired. They might get the cup on Saturday but they will be sore until next May. Won't necessarily die like the Hawks this year but similar issues, also I think people will be better prepared for their style and I think their squard will struggle to keep the intensity needed for them to be dominant as 2009.
Geelong - Premiership in 2010 is a possibility, a top 4 finish, I doubt it. Everything has to go right health wise. And Harry Taylor has to develop to top defender. Unless Tom Hawkins suprises me, the decline will begin.
Carlton - Moloney simply comes in as Stevens appears to be going out. They will improve. Jarrad Waite will help. So will their ruck flexibility. But they seem to play guys like Simon Wiggins, so top 6 is what I give em.
Collingwood - Is it just me or have I seen Mick get heaps out of kids before and them not turn out to be very much? They got really hot for a finish above their quality. Also what happens if Presti drops of a bit? I see head aches in their back line.
West Coast - Obvious bias, but they have improved dramatically. Kerr should be fit and maybe a guy called Beau Waters. They make the 8 on the back of two derbies and at least 10 wins at Subi.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brisbane - Over acheived slightly. Young kids and aging guns. If they make the 8 it's on the back of Vossy.
Sydney - If I'm bias for WCE this is reverse bias. I want to slam them bottom 4 but they seem to win games. Roos will get the most out of Jesse White and some suprising kids... Tadgh anyone?
Essendon - They might have some nice kids. Hurley is in my top 5 favourite players based on one quarter. What they don't have are goal kickers. No Lucas, No Lloyd, Grandpa Fletcher. Sorry. Someone has to drop out of the 8.
North - I don't know what this team does. They compete but not sure about them. Lots of honourable losses and "tanking" not in the sense of actual tanking but the 2 months somewhere in the middle where everyone says what is going on!
Fremantle - They need a game style to suit the kids. If they get the Rich/Palmer/Selwood of 2010 they might do better, but they still aren't ready.
Melbourne - Three picks in the top 11. Blease. Strauss, Watts. Retirements. They are still too young. Will show promise. Won't win games. Compete for 3 quarters then lose the tussle. Fade late in the year as the kids get tired.
Port - Ha! What's going on there. Seriously.
Richmond - Rebuilding and doing it without any guns. Richo, Cuz, Deledio & Cotchin aren't good enough as your best 4.

I think without all those injuries to your superstar players, that you would be playing off in the Grand final on saturday....... There ...happy now ? :)

Very droll muchacho... :)

What are you blathering about? I'm talking about his ladder as a whole, not just where he had West Coast. Hell, if I were offended by people predicting West Coast in the bottom half then I'd have responded to half the posts in this thread.

Oh, and please never compare us to Richmond again; it's insulting.

No ground-breaking calls, just that Hawthorn will replace Essendon in the top 8, and the Eagles to be the big movers of 2010.
