1. St Kilda - this loss will spur them on to take the next step
2. Hawthorn - will be back up there
3. Western Bulldogs - The Dogs chance was this year I feel. Will be thereabouts again.
4. Adelaide - gradually building a flag side
5. Geelong - wont have the hunger again I dont think. Wont write them off
6. Carlton - will stagnate a bit next year. Lot depends is Fev is there
7. Collingwood - a good team that overachieved this year and doesnt have the firepower of the abovementioned
8. North Melbourne - have a habit of over-achieving and I expect it again next year with a new coach

9. Brisbane - just not there yet, werr lucky to finish top 8 this year 2010 will be a reality check
10. Essendon - As above, still yet to develop consistency and may drop out of the 8 again.
11. Sydney - no mans land, dont expect them to complete put up the shutters
12. West Coast - still lacking depth, some key retirements this year.A young side.
13. Richmond - expect some progress
14. Port Adelaide - absolute shambles right now and their best player gone.
15. Melbourne - toss a coin here. Still very average but three spoons in a row and Bailey is gone.
16. Fremantle - who knows. Some good youngsters but senior players (pav aside) are disappointing.

I remember reading somewhere that on average there are ~ at least 2 teams from the bottom 8 that the make the top 8 the following year. Just checking the ladders from 2006 onwards this has been the case.

So going on this lets see if we can pick two clubs from the bottom 8 to make the finals and the two teams to drop down. Im not saying it will happen but statistically speaking theres a high chance it will.

Essondon and Brisbane to drop to bottom 8

Hawthorn and one of West Coast/North Melbourne to play finals footy

my thoughts anyway.

I know a team from the bottom eight didnt make the top four this year but it was the exception or the rule.

This, but Brisbane in the 8 over West Coast and swap the Bulldogs and Carlton spots.:thumbsu:

1 dogs ( strong forward = strong club)
2 adelaide ( the team will really gel well and be good chance for premiership)
3 saints ( wouldn't be as good as '09 but still be a threat)
4 geelong ( still be dominant but drop a few in there "bad" patch of footy)
5 brisbane ( doing well, could be anywhere in 2010 really, but they'll be good enough for 5th )
6 carlton ( still a lot of room for improvement )
7 hawks ( get there players back but not there class, wait till 2011 for top 4)
8 pies ( will shrivel up and die in the 2nd half of the year)
-----------------
9 north ( new look in 2010, on the right track)
10 west coast ( miss the 8 by 2 games; the equivalent of two derby games )
11 essendon ( got lucky in '09 will fight hard next year but no cigar)
12 freo ( getting experience in, we'll strike the 8 in 2011)
13 swans ( need to rebuild but won't be half bad )
14 Port ( sinking and choking, the new fremantle from 2008 )
15 Melbourne ( alas, but they'll be in the 8 in 2011)
16. Tigers ( tiges are the new melbourne )

Coleman: fev- 93
brownlow: little Gazza for 2 in a row
first coach to be sacked: no one, if there is it'll be williams cause he chokes him self to death
grand finalists: crows vs dogs
premier: dogs
norm smith: Gilbee
rising star: morabito ( freo )

TOP 8 i cbf with the rest lol

saints - Will be hungrier then ever
hawks- will be back after a shocker this year
crows- well drilled side will continue to improve
pies- similar season to this season
wb- doubt hall will make much difference
geelong-will lose the hunger
carl-hard to see them finish above the other sides
lions-just scrape in just like essendon this season

1. Western Bulldogs - Finally their year, a proper FF will help win a flag
2. St. Kilda - Will be more determined than ever
3. Adelaide - A serious contender for the flag, if they stop choking
4. Geelong -A minor slip but still a chance for back to back flags
5. Hawthorn - Should be back on track next year, injury permitting
6. Collingwood -Another good year, but never a serious threat
7. Carlton - Much lower if they have injuries, their depth is shocking
8. North Melbourne - Never down for long, good young players
9. West Coast - Will improve, definatley finals in 2011
10. Brisbane - Will be eighth if North or the eagles aren't
11. Essendon - The start of bad times at bomberland esp off field
12. Melboourne - On their way up, no finals for 2 years +
13. Fremantle - getting games into young players
14. Sydney - Usually consistent but loss of players will hurt, for a while
15. Port Adelaide - Will be thanking Richmond for saving port of a spoon
16. Richmond - Will try their best and still finish last

  1. Hawthorn
  2. Saints
  3. Geelong
  4. Carlton
  5. Bulldogs
  6. Collingwood
  7. Adelaide

  10. Essendon
  11. Richmond
  12. Sydney
  13. Fremantle
  14. Port
  15. Melbourne
  16. North
Next year is going to be the highest calibre of finals teams ever imo.

1.Western Bulldogs - If they can get Hall (I think they almost have), then it will be their year
2. St. Kilda - Will be hungry after their grand final loss.
3. Adelaide - Will only improve with our young list and should finish top 4.
4. Geelong - Still a force but not as dominant.
5. Hawthorn - Will be back after an injury-riddled year.
6. Collingwood - Should have a similar year but not as threatening.
7. Carlton - Still have a lot of room for improvement with their depth. Almost a carbon copy of this year.
8. Brisbane - Similar to Essendon this year, just scrape in.
9. Essendon - Should still be in the mix but just missing out.
10. West Coast - Young guns fired late in the year and should be in the hunt.
11. North Melbourne - Will see a new look and their young players will start to show a lot of promise.
12. Fremantle - Will win a majority of their home games.
13. Sydney - Time to rebuild.
14. Melbourne - Will start winning more games. Their last year in the bottom 4.
15. Port Adelaide - Nothing is going right for them at the moment.
16. Richmond - Time for a clean out of their list.

1. St Kilda –well coached (finally), with good structure in place. Personally not a fan of their all over defence, but they pull it off extremely well and are very hard to beat. Premiership window is still open, though getting closer to the last roll of the dice. They will be aware of this, and will also be hungry after last year.

2. Footscray – Like the Saints window is still open, though getting closer to last chance for this list. Great style of play and the inclusion of Hall will add some needed physical presence and straighten them up nicely.

3. Carlton – Dark horse for the 4. Their list should now be at a stage in its development that is similar to where Geelong were in 04 -05. Still young, but beginning to really mature. Lack of finals experience will catch them in the end.

4. Geelong – The bad news for the competition is that the Cats mid field have another couple of years at its peak. The god news for the competition is that age will begin to weary certain Backs and Forwards. Will drop a little. However, like Brisbane 04, finals experience will make them a real chance at a flag come September.

5. Hawthorn – Not a great deal of depth, but best 22 is very good. Can’t see them having such a bad run with injuries two years in a row, so should be in the mix. Still have an incredibly potent forward line. Having said that, my feeling is the 08 success had a lot to do with other clubs not getting their head around the cluster. That is not an issue now, so a bit will depend on how the Hawks respond strategically.

6. Collingwood – For a decade now Malthouse has managed to extract every drop he can out of ‘good but nothing flash’ teams. Expect the fascist bully-boy to do the same next season.

7. Brisbane – Seem back on track after an inevitable fall. Voss seems in control as a coach. Similar season to 09.

8. Adelaide – Finished the year on fire, and most have them pegged to go on with it next season. Yet for mine their list has a kind of ‘awkward’ spread of ages and players at different stages of development. I see the veterans dropping off next season, and younger players are often up and down from season to season before finding consistency.
............................................................ ...........................................................

9. Essendon – Among the better Geelong-style imitators of 09. Attractive, fast, free-flowing game plan, but still a young list that has a few more pre-seasons ahead of it to compliment that style with a real physical presence. Much the same season in 10 as 09, but just missing finals.

10. West Coast – Regularly surprised pundits in 09 and will continue to do so next season. Some talented young players coming along.

11. Port Adelaide – A Club that doesn’t seem to be going up or down. Just middling along with a coach who offers nothing new.

12. Melbourne – the most exciting of the teams that have started a re-build from ground zero in recent years. Will start to get the ball rolling.

13. Nth Melbourne – Will take a season to get accustomed to a new game plan. An experimental season.

14. Sydney – Great club and brilliant coach. But they are basically starting from scratch in season 10. The amount of talent and key players lost this year leaves too big a hole to fill in only 12 months. Will work hard (as always) not to bottom out, but I think that will be hard to avoid.

15. Richmond – new coach and (hopefully) starting anew. But really, who knows.

16. Fremantle – I watched 4 Freo games this year and, unlike Melbourne, did not see much talent to get excited about.

Premier: whichever top 4 team is in the best form in the month of september (w/ the exception of Carlton).
