Re: Round 19 trades

1. barlow to ablett - finally.

2. with about $130k cash, its a choice between
upgrading FWD podsiadly, ROK, porplyzia or watts OR
upgrading DEF maguire, webberley, hunt, or waters.

gonna come down to who i get for who i lose.

after doing the maths, it works out the best option(s) for the last trade appear to be.....

sacking maguire, and bringing in gilbee or broughton. only problem then is that benches hunt or waters, ultimately only a 20 point increase on average. i was hoping for 40.

sacking podsiadly (awful away from kardinia), and bringing in either one of the reiwoldts, harvey or sylvia. i prefer sylvia at present, as roos & tigers have harder draws, nick is suspect on etihad surface, but the dees have a easy run home.

any thoughts ?

I am looking to offload pods aswell but will bring in N.Riewoldt. Just starting to get confidence back and finding form.

Re: Round 19 trades

LOL yes it's late..

1 trade left..ranked 534...

Want to go for league and get overall... Finished on Top and league glory is important but if I lose this week I might face some teams who have saved trades..therefore this win is really important..

Copped a donut last week for Goodwin and don't want another one..

Strangely i moved up from 584 to 534 with a weekly rank of 30,000+ playing 1 short... really strange..

Judd, Chapman and Goodwin are concerns..

Not sure about Gilbee --> Lake

Surely u have other areas to fix (like some guy said before)..Gilbee hasn't been very steady...not great but steady in last 10 games..Enright is just terrible SC wise....

think about your situation for a moment, and then assume the following - some of those above you have exhausted their trades already, and as such injuries & suspension begin to bite - any of us could burn trades week after week, chasing the weekly prize, but come this time of year they begin to drop.

despite my very average performances lately ive simply kept winning. i knew i was playing weak squads so conserved trades and still won while others chased overall weekly or annual glory.

only now, with as much info as possible known, i do the trades necessary for league glory, and let the overall take care of itself.

be patient.

yeah I got two in my league with zero trades left and in top 1.5k players. I've got two left and am ~5000, hopefully I can catch them.

Cyril is my only concern atm, and gumby went down as my backup so will possible trade him depending how many weeks he gets. 1; I wont trade, 3; I definately will, 2... not sure yet.

Thanks Guys..:thumbsu:

Okay will hold last trade..if I got rid of Goodwin it should have been 2 weeks ago..I think Roberton/P.Davis should get a game to cover Goodwin this week..

Rioli is a tricky one.

Re: Round 19 trades

My team atm is
B: Hodge, Goddard, Enright, Shaw, Gilbert, Waters, Strijk (Webberly, Roberton)
M: Ablett, Swan, J. Selwood, Cooney, Montagna, Judd (Bastinac, Gysberts)
R: Goldstein, Clark (Lobbe, Fitzpatrick)
F: Pavlich, Harvey, Goodes, O'Keefe, Franklin, Rockliff, Fyfe (Rohan, R. Tarrant)
$ 38,500, 2 trades

I'm thinking of going
Rockliff > N. Riewoldt

It's not the greatest of teams, but it's doing the job in my league and in the weekly scores.

Should I make the trade or just save them for injuries?

Save for injuries. Rocky is not the one you should be looking to offload. Remedy your B7 first, although your kitty makes this extremely difficult.

B7 is definitely the position you need to sort out. strijk is bench cover at best, so upgrade your most expensive defensive rookie. only other option i can see is to downgrade someone this week and do a bigger upgrade next week.

my team, with 4 trades and $92k left...
B: goddard, hodge, malceski, enright, gilbert, waters, hurn (webberley, davis)
M: swan, ablett, montagna, boyd, ball, mitchell (gysberts, shuey)
R: sandi, ryder (warnock, lobbe)
F: pav, gia, rok, rockliff, brown, waite, roo (grant, fyfe)

the top 4-5 in the league i really want to win is pretty strong (finished 4th) so i'm tempted to go gysberts -> hardingham, then hurn -> milburn/newman/gilbee as a final upgrade. thoughts?

Edit: i guess another option is a fyfe/grant downgrade which could net me cash for another upgrade later

Hardingham cash grab looks good. Hurn out with a hammy this week by reports. Maybe swap Davis > Waite and play Grant/Fyfe as F7 or if you want to trade Hurn > Lake. If your in elimination final i'd do the 2 trades.

Yeah Hurn is a worry. I have him too. Have cover with Davis or Smith. And I finished with double chance. May hang onto Hurn until next week.
Also look at Gysberts -> Hicks as you can use him as MPP if required.

My team: 4 trades ($23900K)
backs: Hodge, Malceski, Kennelly, lake, Enright, Hurn, Gilbert
subs: Davis, Smith
mids: Ablett, Swan, Goddard, Goodes, bartel, Montagna
subs: Gysberts, Shuey
rucks: Clark, Naitinui
subs: Warnock, Lobbe
fwds: Buddy, Didak, pav, ROK, Rockcliff, Chapman, brown
subs: Pods, Watts

Another option people were telling me was Pods -> Hicks. Then move Goodes to fwd line and upgrade Gysberts -> Hayes.

My choices:

A) Gysberts->Hicks, Pods -> Riewoldt (would have mpp cover in mids)
B) Pods->Hicks, Move Goodes to fwd line and then Gysberts->Hayes
C) Watts->Hicks, Naitinui->Sandilands

Leaning towards A as I think Riewoldt has a good run in and is hitting form. Can get Sandi next week.
Any thoughts?

Re: Round 19 trades

want to cash in on rohan to hardingham so i can get chappy in for my final upgrade.

will hardingham play out the year? or should I risk it and get mcneil? this will leave my mid bench with gysberts and mcneil but I could then bring in a fwd. Only works if a mid isnt named, as a last minute withdrawal would stuff this up.

Re: Round 19 trades

On Chappy, not sure if this is the best week to bring him in. Sore by all reports last week and tough game this week. Cats have shown in the past they don't care all that much about H&A games no matter how big, and their only concern is the big prize.

My trade plans are, once i can (if i can) find more info on Goodwin is doing -
Goodwin to either -
Fisher - Great run home (PA, NM, Rich, Ade)
Broughton - Decent run home (NM, Syd, Haw, Carl) with 2 games at Subi
Gilbee - Toughish run home (Ade away, Cats, Syd away, Ess) but due for a big one or two
Waite - Tough last 2 games (Gee, Freo away) but apart from last week posts 90+ pretty consistently

I know a couple of those players will have high b/e but i think it's a little less relevant at this stage of the year. It's more important to get a player more likely to score well imo.

Would leave me with 1 trade for the rest of the year. Thoughts?

Re: Round 19 trades

Thoughts on trading ballantyne out for Higgins? Just short of riewoldt, and will give me more cash to upgrade either brown, Martin or hunt

Re: Round 19 trades

Any other options? I don't like Higgins especially the rounds before the doggies finals campaign. Strikes me as a player that could be rested.

I like Broughton best out of that lot. Very consistent. Only issues be i'm not sure how he'll be affected by Chris Tarrant's absence.

One other option from left field would be Dustin Fletcher. Ultra Consistent. Not sure if he's in your price range or not and he's not as likely to score huge and win you a league game (if that's what your going for) as say Broughton or Gilbee are.

I've got Waite - he's too risky with his tendency to get reported and suspended out of those options. Fisher is pretty up and down this year which can be a killer in finals. I'd probably jump on Broughton over Gilbee out of those two because of the easier run home.

You know i actually looked at him and was very surprised how consistent he has been. Something doesn't feel right about bringing him in though lol.

Yeah Waite does worry me but surely he's learnt by now :D

Re: Round 19 trades

i have 427 000 for the ballantyne trade, but dont really want to spend it all, still thinking of other upgrades
others i am looking at are tippet, mcpharlin and cloke

All horrible options.
- Tippett plays the Pies and StK in R21 and 22 (if I remember correctly).
- McPharlin - inconsistent at best.
- Cloke - inconsistent at best.

Better options/risks are Jpod, Dale Thomas, ROK, J. Brown (easy run home), or Leon Davis/Higgins (if you really want to roll the dice and get some $$$)

I'm thinking Hurn to Broughton. Would have liked that trade more though if Taz wasn't injured. In saying that, Taz got injured last week early and he still pulled out a big score.

Already have Gilbee and I would take Broughton over him for sure.

Fletch will either do his groin or get suspended for tripping.

Waite I think could be the smokey, has surely learnt his lesson?

What about Newman? Good run home too apart from Saints. Thoughts?

Could be meeting you next week in Tooserious league if I lose this week!

Yeah i've got Hurn as well which is annoying. Newman i think could be a little too much if i figured it out right.

Ps. your team is ridiculous, 2nd prize is already yours :thumbsu: Shame you jumped in the same league as spudlers who's ranked a lazy 33rd overall haha

Re: Round 19 trades

Benson - i agree with all negative feedback! Tippett, McPharlin and Cloke are all far too inconsistent for this time of year.

Dav3 - upgrade Strijk over Rockliff, been very happy with Rockliff as my F7, always planned as an upgrade but he's outscoring most of my proven forwards and earned his spot.

I've got a workmate I'm desperate to beat this week in knockout final and we have very similar teams... with only 4 players different.

With 3 trades and not much money, my team is as follows:

DEF: Goddard, Malceski, Gilbee, Enright, Waters, Hunt, Strijk (Davis, Roberton)

MID: Ablett, Hodge, Chapman, Judd, Swan, Montagna (Martin, Banner)

RUC: Sandilands, Graham (Warnock, Lobbe)

FWD: Riewoldt, Pavlich, O'Keefe, Hall, Franklin, Rockliff, Brown (Gumbleton, Playfair).

Provided Ellard is picked this week, I'll downgrade Gumbleton to Ellard this week to get a bench option up forward, which will mean, with cash in the bank, I'll have $245,200 to play with.

Option A) Upgrade P. Davis to Duffield/Newman (Newman more likely), Strijk to bench - around 30 PPG increase (possibility of much more but based on average), benefit of having a proven player on field as opposed to a rookie, will hold me in good stead if I win this week against other opponents, finalise my backline.

Option B) Upgrade Jono Brown to Didak/Goodes - a bit riskier and will leave Strijk as my D7, but based on the last 3 games of all 3 players, it's around an 80 PPG increase, gives me a point of difference against my mate.

Option C) Upgrade Hunt to Lake - less likely option, Hunt scoring steadily at 70 odd, I prefer A or B but torn between the two.

Provided Strijk maintains his spot and keeps on with the 60's - 70's, thinking Option B will give me more PPG.

Thoughts?

Tell me about it, Spudlers has killed it. Hopefully I'll be able to hang on to 2nd. I have $411k with 4 trades to go. Need to win in our mates league (we all throw in $100). I'm thinking Higgins to Rooey and Hurn to Broughton. Leaving me with 2 trades and 200k. I'll then get Chappy after his rest (he owes this to me at least, I reckon it will be next week but) for ROK or Brown.

Goodluck this week mate. Let me know who you will get for Goody.

Re: Round 19 trades

He's been reported at least four times and gotten off twice. What part sounds like someone who's learnt? ;)

Re: Round 19 trades

Interesting to hear a few people are trading JB out even though he's playing against WCE who have Mackenzie suspended and Schofield who is hopeless .. no brainer

Re: Round 19 trades

Thinking of one a bit out of left field.
Current mids
Ablett, Monty, Selwood, Pendles, Boyd, Martin - Stevenson, Gysberts
Current fwds
Pav, Goodes, ROK, Buddy, Rooey, Didak, Higgins - Watts, Relton.

Thinking of getting Sylvia for Stevenson. This allows DP option of having Martin or Higgins/ROK to be benched on any given week. Would leave 1 trade & $50k.

Worth doing?
