He'll be allowed to keep it up but strictly told to not put up any sort of intimate club details before they have been announced publicly.

Gary Rohan did the same thing when he announced he was playing his first game earlier this year. That was a much bigger mistake than what numbers players will wear next season so it isnt a big deal but they will be instructed to be more careful in the future.

I think this is a good sign he is excited and committed to an afl future something the best players all have in common.

Alex Johnson is #12 for Vic Metro

Will Jed 'Chops' Lamb be a Cyril Rioli type player?

For Example
1st year - small forward role - Forward Pocket
2nd year - pushed into midfield/flank - Half Forward
3rd year - full time midfielder - Winger

He lacks Cyril's foot speed, tackling ability, core strength, agility in traffic, and contested ball winning ability. I think Lamb has the potential to become a slightly slower Mitch Morton, who moved into a role on the wing with Richmond at the end of this season with success. However I feel he lacks the speed to create space at AFL level and will need to rely on heavily increasing his endurance base in order to do so. I regard his strength as his game sense and ability to read the play, particularly in attack. While he does work fairly well off the ball, it isn't a standout. I'd describe his defensive pressure as reasonable to good. He has well above average marking ability, his hands at ground level are average to good. His field kicking is excellent when given space and time, however he can be prone to butchering the ball when placed under pressure, or when playing closer to the centre square. However this is true of many players and I don't think it is a massive concern.

Although some might think he is a selfish or flashy player due to his boots and flamboyant style, this is inaccurate and I think unfair. He is very team oriented in all areas but 1 - he will always have a shot on goal when it is kickable, and does not look to distribute the ball to a teammate. But in all other respects he is a team player, he has good awareness of where his teammates are and can choose good options, and does chase hard in defence (however his forward pressure and tackling is definitely not game-breaking like Rioli's).

Here are a few comments on Lamb:

Paul Daffey
Lamb is a natural forward who's also able to pick up his share of kicks on a wing. In years to come, he'll play in the centre square. He's got a touch of magic and a dash of cheek. He won the kicking drill at the draft combine. There's a lot to like.

Kevin Sheehan says:
Clever forward with clean hands overhead and at ground level, and has very good awareness. Super-smart goalkicker in all situations, and he showed that for Gippsland in the TAC Cup and Vic Country at the under-18 championships.

Emma Quayle Mr X factor. The plethora of midfielders available could see him slip down the order, but has huge natural talent and the ability to turn a game. As a forward, is a smart lead who can kick goals from all imaginable angles. Knows how to get involved on a wing too. Likeable, enthusiastic and, while flashy, is also very determined.

Thank RoR for the videos.

Must say that Parker reminds me a lot of a young Ryan O'Keefe. Moves very similarly to ROK's pre 2004 days. Not sure he has similar stamina or football intelligence though. Could end up being more Buchanan than ROK.

Can't work out who Jed Lamb reminds me of, but I was really impressed by ball handing - incredibly clean. He also seems to be able to find time and space, never looking too hurried. He looks to be a quality pick-up if his attitude stacks up.

Rookie draft 10am tomorrow. Garry Moss and Eugene Krueger have been training with us and should be drafted by us. Krueger should be pre-listed as a NSW rookie. After that there are up to 5 spots left on the rookie list, to join McNeil, McKaigue and Gordon. What sort of players should we be chasing? I think another inside midfielder could work well in terms of list balance. Last year the reserves lacked some toughness in the middle when a few promotions left us with only Gordon and McNeil playing in the centre.

Ben Reid is a name that has been tossed about as another NSW rookie selection. No relation to our Sam Reid, but is the younger brother of the other Sam Reid (Bulldogs).

How confusing is that?

Ben Reid (undrafted) = brother of Sam Reid (Western Bulldogs)

Ben Reid (Colligwood) = brother of Sam Reid (Sydney):confused:

Has elite endurance, 15.6 in the beep test from memory.

I really like the look of David Kruse and Aaron Mullet both have a lot to offer

Aaron Mullet
Kevin Sheehan says:
Smooth-moving left-footer who has ability overhead and is neat with hand and foot. Vic Metro representative in the 2010 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. He averaged 20 disposals at Eastern Ranges at 66 per cent efficiency and five marks.
David Kruse Kevin Sheehan says: David is a dashing tall defender with terrific run and carry from the back 50. He can play tall or small or push into the midfield, giving his team flexibility. Originally from the Tiwi Islands, David impressed for the Northern Territory in the under-18 championships this year.
But time will tell who we end up with.

Any more news on this?
100% confirmed that we are no longer interested in that player. Looks unlikely we will be drafting anyone from WA, although I should say there is 1 major management company I haven't spoken to. Luckily we will miss out on Andreoli

Max Otten. 191cm and 85kgs.

Key defender who was controversially cut from the Vic Metro team early in the NAB AFL U18 Championships when after Vic Country's Lucas Cook had kicked a few goals on him. Responded by going back to the TAC Cup and kicking a bag. Shows the same application that his brother Andy has shown at the Crows.

Ben Haren. 196 cm and 91kgs. Like Max Otten, 18 years old and tall!

Tall forward with a decent grab, and can also kick the ball. Runs out a game with ease for a big man.

I like that we're taking a few talls to stock up our 2's side with. Will allow guys like Reid and Johnson to settle down in one position.

Passed on our 3rd pick.

Ed Barlow has been picked up by the Dogs and Jonathan Simpkin has been picked up by Geelong.
