Nason isnt horrible, he's really quick and quite a good kick (although at times erratic, was considered one of his strengths when Tigers drafted him). The main issue is his size.

You're wrong

I've been suggesting that we do this for some months.
Hope it goes through. If he can stay injury free he will be a weapon with his run and carry and long kicking to our forwards.
We'd have to give up a bit. And does he want to come to Perth?

Not sure we would. On the outer at Hawthorn and has been leapfrogged by Smith on the wing and probably by Puopolo and Gunston up forward.
The fact they re-signed Ellis could mean he's no longer a required player. There was talk that he would be floated in the Gunston deal or possibly to North as well
On the D+T board Hawthorn fans seemed to be content with offers of 2nd or 3rd rounders, but that should be taken with a grain of salt of course.

Whether he'd want to come to Perth is the big question. Career has stalled since the 08 GF, might come for a fresh start?

Why can't we make plays for someone like a Young or Byrnes.....Nason, you have to be joking me..

Believe the port-wc-gws deal for ebert-cornes-brogan might've been done without the Dogs, who weren't happy with the pick offered for Hill.

So what pick have the dogs gotten? It's just our pick 45 right?

Re: brad ebert quits west coast

I think 28 is pretty handy. It gives us the opportunity to pick up a KPD and the best available mid, rather than one or the other.

I do want Jordan Lockyer at 28. He's very underrated on these boards and looks like a very attacking full back with great hands, like Lake. Can play at both ends also.

With 23 we could hope for a slider, someone like Grigg or Crozier IMO.

Crozier will be gawn.

Grigg is average and we have near no need for him. Somone like Kavanagh, Markworth and McKenzie is what we have an actual need for.

Good news?

Would rather a player like Young for a second rounder than Hill.

Young has genuine talent and a great boot.

His stocks have just tanked though, due to injury and a raft of similar players vying his place in Hawthorns 22.

Give him a fresh start at a new club, could be a great bargain acquisition, the exact kind we seem to avoid.

We would need to trade a player if we were going for Young.

Don't mind the idea but we don't really have anyone they would be interested in, other than Mitch Brown. That is obviously overs though.

Unless the club would consider ontrading 28?

Is 28 too much though, it is hard to guess Young's value.

If the WB have rejected pick 45 (assuming we offered it), then surely they are after 28? Ridiculous if true.

Otherwise they have been offered 49, but want our 45 instead. If this is the case, I wonder if WC would be better off keeping the pick. Is there a WAFL player like Gilligan that would be a better get with our 2nd rounder.

If we don't trade for Hill I wonder if the WB will try to low ball him on an offer that will see him slip into the draft/PSD.

Either way, reckon he will be playing WAFL in 2013.

Where does he fit though?

I like him a lot but we already have a surplus of HBF'ers.

Re: brad ebert quits west coast

Shane Nelson with 23 and Lockyer 28!

I really like lockyer because of his attitude and aggressiveness at the ball and the play and would be happy to pick him up with either of our picks. Nelson seems very, very vanilla to me and i think he could be a roleplayer for us in a successful side but i just dont see a spot in the team for him. As a mid i see him as one of 2 rotations off the bench and while he can fill a HFF spot i just dont see any dynamism there.

Re: brad ebert quits west coast

I wouldn't get too hung up specifically chasing a future KPD. While some kids come with clearly KPD as their go, many good young KPF's I've seen can and have become great KPD's with a little bit of schooling. That is, I'd also look closely at any KPF's who have looked just OK / reasonable in the U18's and might have drifted in the draft - they just might turn out to be a better future KPD prospect than some of the highly rated KPD's in the draft. It's just a casual observation . . .

As for the mid / utility type, one thing we seem to lack is a really pacy 180 - 185cm player. Even better if they are a good left foot kick - another thing that we lack a little of. Lefties create another form of "natural variation" that is very useful in tight contests. Nico was useful for that when front & centre of packs near the goals this year. The Hawks seem to have almost made lefties a focus in their recent past recruiting.
