Re: Round 4-Captain

given the malthouse theory of fresh legs reqd throughout the year and the big anzac day clash looming what are the odds swan or pendles will be subbed off around half time - especially if the pies are 8+ goals in front
If they are 8+ goals up you'd like to think they'd both have some pretty handy scores already. Plus, surely they'd just be rotated FWD for a rest. It's not like they want to take away the kind of conditioning/fitness that only playing a full game of AFL footy can deliver. I'd be thinking that kind of a rest would be used more around finals time for those two anyway.

Re: Round 4 captain and emergencies

Swan captain.

Bringing in Duigan for Otten and Curnow for Harris. Hopefully my run of choosing the incorrect emergencies will come to an end.

Both wasted trades if you ask me. Typical of how the average(at best) player thinks early in the season... not wanting to miss out on the most profitable players and willing to spend as many trades as possible to get them in. Player form can change dramatically over the season too.

Otten-Duigan - Duigan is only averaging 19 points more than Otten with Carlton playing the 2 worst sides in the league out of 3 games. And yes, after 3 rounds?? Wasted trade.

Harris-Curnow - Similar deal, Gold Coast can only get better... Carlton will only play more competitive sides(as a % after the 2 worst in the league). Harris will play on the ball ALL YEAR, pretty much guaranteed... very safe. Wasted trade.

And bottom line... even if all 4 players maintain their averages, you'll gain 40pts overall per week for the cost of 2 trades. Waste.

Swan Cpt.. agreed.

Pretty sure he meant subbing players off the bench, not trading them in.

Clearly he was refering to putting them on the ground as he already had them as emergenies? I don't understand how you couldn't figure that out??

Curnow got 100 against collingwood, he is a keeper.

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

I can't decide this weeks captain... Sandilands, Pendlebury, Judd or Cox.

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

Swan captain for sure..... who to put on the field & who as emergency out of Otten, Stanley & Toy is my issue
... Im leaning towards Toy on the field, he did well to get 38 points subbing on as he did in the 1st game belting....
Thoughts?

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

Might give Tappscott the (C)

B7 - Heppell or Buckley?
R2 - Petrie, Smith or Hale?
F7 - Richardson or Darling?

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

Rnd 1 - Judd vs Richmond 108
Rnd 2 - Goddard vs Richmond 102
Rnd 3 - Pendlebury vs Carlton 94

Not much success for me. And I don't have Swan yet.

Might try my 4th captain in 4 weeks and go for Dean Cox.

Has a good average against Hawthorn (116 from 5), and at Aurora stadium (highest score here of 163 vs Hawthorn in 2009).
There is no reason he can't get a massive score again.
The big fella has returned to his best SC scoring form.

If he outscores Swannie by much, I'm a shoo in for top 1k :)

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

hey guys, captain for me is d.swan... just some quick opinions if i could

backline- danny stanley v nick duigan (currently got duigan but bit worried already having gibbs judd and curnow)

fwds- darling/ pitt/ richardson... currently got richardson as i dont think darling will get much supply in tassie v the hawks and pitt not a high scorer.... opinions please, thanks

Nice idea. I've captained Cox as well. Do I get to blame you if it turns out bad?

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

Taking Cox as Captain over Pendles.

My theory is that if you don't have Swan is you need to take a slight risk by backing a player that has the potential for a huge score, eg Franklin last week.

Only decision I have left for today is whether to have Zac Smith or Drew Petrie as emergency in case Sandi is a late withdrawel. If both were up and running I'd go Petrie but he has played so little of late... Then again if Sandi goes down Petrie (And Goldstein) will just be taking on Freo's second string ruckmen.

Re: Round 4 Captain and Emergencies

Don't have Swan, so who should I pick?

Pendlebury vs Cox vs Franklin vs Rioli

Gut feel says to go with a Hawk down in Tassie.

As much as I would love to make Buddy captain, he's too risky!

1. Cox
2. Pendlebury

... in my opinion.

Lower being excluded from the Freo side saves my one selection problem which was Otten vs Toy. Not BOTH have to play. A lot of coaches will have already locked in their sides, not realising about Lower I think.
