Thats were your wrong. Adelaide and Port Adelaide haven't been a significant factor. Adelaide is only 7th and Port Adelaide 9th.

2. Collingwood: -4,541 (Still has home games vs. Essendon and Geelong)
3. Bulldogs: -4,042
4. Sydney: -4,006
5. Melbourne: -3,890
6. St Kilda: -1,958
7. Adelaide: -1,636 (Still has home derby)
8. Fremantle: -1,488

Port also has Collingwood next week which might help their averages a bit

Yet collingwood V North could only pull 40 578 at the same venue. 70000 members and cant even fill Etihad.
Oh yeah, definately compare a rd 2 match when everyone is looking to the big game in rd3 and a Roos home game and at that stage they were favourites for the wooden spoon

Collingwoods home game v North outdrew Etihads capacity despite being the shittest day of the year, really Collingwood should never be made to play at Etihad, its just not big enough and our fans dont lower ourselves to that joke of a venue

On the other hand tonights game was between 2 Etihad tenants with finals on the agenda for both after a miracle turnaround

They are comparable because they are both North home games. Most members dont get free access to away games and so may choose not to attend. Happens with all clubs. So many Carlton supporters probably decided not to go as they dont get free access. Much like Pies supporters on round 2.

Really though, for North its a great crowd for a side that is struggling to get people through the gates and I'm sure they'll be more than pleased with the numbers

I really want to delve into your psyche. What possible enjoyment do you get from another club's "poor" crowd figures, particularly when they participate in a sport you love.

Explain this to me.

Wow, thats a good crowd? Really?

Would have thought they would aim higher for a big 3 Victorian club in the top 4 against another fighting for a finals spot and has the wood over the higher opponent

That is a pretty good crowd unless the axcess one/medallion club members show up, which don't come often unless the game is a huge clash. Most of the sparsely covered areas were the Etihad member areas. I guess you blame Collingwood for MCC/AFL members not showing up at the MCG?

I think it could have drummed up about 55-60k at the MCG which would have been a decent crowd, you always get a much stronger neutral/mcc/afl turnout at the MCG than you get from axcess one/medallion club.

Carlton have had very strong attendances at Docklands this year, there have been 9 games that have cracked 40k at Docklands this year.

Essendon vs Bulldogs (42,617) R1
North vs Collingwood (40,578) R2
Saints vs Collingwood (47,762) R3
Saints vs Carlton (41,576) R7
Carlton vs Geelong (48,429) R9
Carlton vs Brisbane (43,617) R12
Carlton vs Sydney (42,788) R13
Essendon vs North (42,329) R13
North vs Carlton (41,332) R19

Something to factor for home crowds is membership.

North 30,202
Carlton 43,214 (43% larger)
Essendon 50,271 (66% larger)
Collingwood 71,516 (137% larger)

Collingwood should have hit the capacity of the stadium if just their members showed up to their home game there but only managed 38,849 against Adelaide. Still a good crowd vs an interstate team but only represented about half of the membership that showed up.

It is very hard to get remotely close to a capacity crowd there unless the contest is expected to be fantastic and Carlton were expected to win tonight, we haven't been that great against top 8 clubs this year.

I dont get enjoyment from poor crowd figures, but I wonder why teams supporters get excited about sup par crowds and talk them up as a great effort

We get over 55,000 when we play West Coast at the MCG, have also cracked 80,000 against the Crows there in the past

Etihad aint a home game for Collingwood and if they stop us playing there then they will break attendance records with ease

Saints vs Collingwood (47,762) R3
I assume you meant Essendon instead of Collingwood.

Saints vs Collingwood in 2 weeks should get near 50k

You played the Crows there as a home game and got about 38k.

20k odd suckers went to see fremantle drown in the wet when they

1. could have snuggled up and watched fremantle get belted instead on their tv sets

2. could have seen the game at better angles (closeup etc) without needing to pay more than $30 a ticket to see the game and sit in the rain

IDIOCY

The crowd at Subi where it was raining was 30,000 +.A crowd all the RL clubs would die for!

I see the Broncos could only get 24,000 in Brisbane on friday night now that should exercise your mind more!

Essendon Vs Geelong had over 43K in Round 15

We'll get 40K+ for the Sydney and possibly Western Bulldogs games over the next two weeks too.

Round 19 crowds

North Melbourne v Carlton (Docklands) 41,332
Geelong v Melbourne (Kardinia) 22,716
Western Bulldogs v West Coast (Docklands) 20,883
Gold Coast v St Kilda (Carrara) 17,482
Fremantle v Hawthorn (Subiaco) 30,937
Collingwood v Essendon (MCG) 73,163
Adelaide v Port Adelaide (Football Park) 40,586

Watching Bendigo Bombers take on AFL teams doesn't interest me. Looking ahead to 2012 already.

That's a shame as your side tried something today that most other teams haven't the balls to do and that was to take on the Pies at full tilt and with purpose.

Good on the Bombers for trying against all the odds.

Good crowd for the Showdown considering.

Dockers actually pulled a very good crowd despite the conditions. I actually feel sorry for the ones who went too see that display in that weather.

No North supporter talked it up as being a great effort. It was a decent crowd, nothing more, nothing less. Lots of Carlton fans there. They seem to turn out in big numbers at Etihad. It was as close to 50-50 as I've seen for a North home game.

Not sure why Collingwood supporters need to remind everyone else that their club is massively followed though? We all know it. Not sure why they need to keep reminding us they had the brilliant foresight to choose a club with huge support. North has a small supporter base and the crowd was good enough. The stadium deal, on the other hand...
