Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (11/03/2011: 31,156)

I'm one of those 8,000. Was bitterly dissapointed with Gaz (and Bomber) leaving, it wasnt GFC's fault but I was royally pissed at the AFL who crushed my naive ideals of tradition and loyalty with their endless supply of Gold Coast cash.

But after the win on the weekend I realised the passion is still there so as soon as I can find out what to do I'll chip in 190 bucks and reduce it to 7,999.

Onya mate!:thumbsu:

For hells sake there are also $80 memberships. Way less than the cost of a latte a week. If people aren't prepared to chip in when the club is going well on-field, God help us when we take a dip.

he guys,

Just some noob questions:

1. What are the different kinds of membership?
2. what do you get?
3. I live in Europe so visiting games is not an option but I might want to visit final games in september, would becoming a member be the best way?
4. Anything I forgot....

Cheers hope you can answer my questions

This site will probably answer all your questions better than I could hope to.

There's an international membership option.

I think a years service initiative with regards to merchandise and other incentives which would be made available by the club when you get 10/15/20/25 years membership is a no-brainer. Helps to retain members when our fortunes drop off and also gives ongoing members a reason to chip in something if they will be overseas and won't get a chance to get to the footy during an AFL season.

Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (11/03/2011: 31,156)

We are now at 33,930. Still need 10,000 more to get our target.

Should see a big increase after our first game at Geelong, but I still think we will probably end up at the same as last year. (Around 40K)

Totally with you on that!!

Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (29/03/2011: 33,930)

As others have said, this team has given supporters a lot of joy in recent times and the best way to repay that is by getting a membership.

Got my international membership the other week. I must be one of the only people driving around Vancouver with my Cats sticker on the back of the car :) That's 23 years as a member for me now.

Thanks its a pitty there isn't a finals only membership. Just a GF only membership. Is not that interesting. Would have been cool in 1980-ies/1990-ies and in after 2006 ofcourse.

But I would really like to see the Cats in a final at the MCG live some time. And gambeling on a GF the next 10 years is just that gambeling.

Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (11/03/2011: 31,156)

Just wondering if anyone knows what the ticketing situation will be for the game vs Collingwood on Friday? I have a Geelong Melb 11 game membership, but I'm wondering if there'll even be any general admission available?

The MCC website usually lists the expected crowd size, and which bays will be for general admission. But all they say this time is that reserved seats are selling very quickly and they strongly encourage those wishing to attend to pre-purchase a reserved seat in advance.

So where does that leave those of us entitled to attend on our membership? I'd rather not have to buy a reserved seat when I've already paid on my membership. But on the other hand I don't want to miss out on a seat, as the MCC has a history of cutting back the general admission seating and selling them as reserved if they think they can make an extra buck.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Just buy a reserved seat, what is it, an extra $10 at most? Last time the only GA was standing room and a few rows at the top of the Ponsford. May not be any GA at all this time around. Buy the ticket, not only to get a better seat but so you can rock up at 7:30 with no hassle...

From an MCC perspective, it's listed as a category 'A' game. The only other H&A games which are currently listed as category 'A' are Anzac Day and Queen's Birthday. So, I'd agree with Magic, buy a reserved spot and save yourself the hassle.

Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (02/05/2011: 36,249)

From the MCC site (probably updated today)

Crowd estimate: 85,000

Public tickets: Reserved seats for this match are selling very quickly. We strongly encourage those wishing to attend to pre-purchase a reserved seat in advance via Ticketek .

No mention about GA

And also:

Reserved seats for MCC members and their guests to Friday night's highly anticipated Geelong Cats vs Collingwood match at the MCG have now sold out.

MCC members are advised to pre-purchase visitor tickets as soon as possible (limit four per member), as it is possible they will sell out before the day of the match.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek or in person at the club during business hours.

Approximately 5500 reserved seats have been sold for this match, leaving around 17,000 seats and standing room spaces available in the Members Reserve for all members and visitor ticket holders to access.

View the Members Reserve seating plan

Gate 2 opens at 5.00pm on Friday.

I'm hoping for 90,000, the same clash last year (albeit a collingwood home game) got 88,000+

Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (02/05/2011: 36,249)

Thanks for the suggestions, I guess I will buy reserved tix to make sure I can get a seat.

But I do feel like that GFC members are being Slightly gouged, having to buy tickets to guarantee seats at the big (home) games, when we're the ones that already support the club financially with our memberships.

Also hope I can get a blanket next year, there's only so many GFC scarves I can fit in my wardrobe!

Friday's game is a one off - our biggest H&A crowds over the past three or four years have been against the Pies and this year will be no exception. When we play home games at the 'G against other big clubs like Hawthorn, Carlton, St Kilda etc there's no need to reserve a seat in advance.

Another tip - if you go into a Ticketek outlet in person you'll save the booking fee.

Re: 2011 Geelong memberships (02/05/2011: 36,249)

Just buy a reserved seat, what is it, an extra $10 at most?

Isn't it about $15 + bf for the nosebleeds (another tenner for decent seats)?

Next time membership department make some more god dam blankets.

I dont need another god dam cap and/or scarf.

:mad::(

The line outside the G before the Saints game was quite ridiculous... i couldnt even see the end of it.

I choose Football >> line.

They didn't have the third item (i didn't actually know it was a blanket at the time) when i picked up my cap in early February.

They underestimated the fact that half our members are a part of the blue rinse set. ;)

They really should have put the years of membership on the scarves over five years ago.

Yep.
As bad as Hawthorn's colours are, the years of membership badge is a cracker and should be a feature on ours as well.

$23.70 for premium, $14.20 for standard.

slightly off topic but -- I have a Geelong v Carlton r9 general admin ticket which states I can sit on level 3. Therefore, can I sit anywhere on level 3, and relax? or .. do people reserve seats on level 3 and I am at risk of being shuffled around until I am not sitting in someones seat? cheers ;)
