Next season's membership applications are only a matter of weeks away, so now is the time to discuss improvements you'd like to see made to the packages or discuss if you will be changing the package you purchase for 2012.

I'll be sticking with Adult 17 with reserved seat in Melbourne and Geelong. :thumbsu:

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

Unsure at this stage what I'm doing.

Money will be an issue for me, since I'm going overseas for 3 and a half months smack bang during the middle of the football season.

I'll probably stick with the 11 Melbourne membership, see as many games as I can before I go- and I dunno, any games I dont use give to someone else?

Still want to be eligible for finals tickets, should we be there! I know the 3-game membership makes you ineligible.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

I'm feeling very poor atm, as I'm trying to save all my spare $ for my trip overseas next month, but I'll probably go with the same membership next year;
Adult 11 with seat in Melbourne & Geelong

Tossing up whether to get the September/Premiership member add on again, probably will seeing how well it turned out this year :thumbsu:

Does anyone remember when seat renewals are usually due (don't want to miss out if away!)

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

Gave up my seat last year, but I'm pretty sure its early December seats are due.

(where are you going btw)

Thanks Shell-I thought it was around then :thumbsu:

I'm going to Vietnam/Cambodia for a month, can't wait!

SJ, with your 17 game membership, what do you do when you go to the 'blockbuster' away games in Melbourne? Can you swipe your membership & get in, or do you buy a seat in case you miss out on entry?

For home games (four - three at MCG and one at Etihad) I have a reserved seat.

For the other three (this year against Collingwood, St Kilda and Hawthorn) I used my card and sat in general admission.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

Hawks members get scarfs with the number of consecutive member years embroidered on it.. Number is huge and very visible..

This is such a great idea, would set us apart from the recent band-wagoners.. :thumbsu:

I have a 17 game too and for the blockbuster games you just arrive early and sit on level 3 in general admission. So long as you're prepared to arrive a little bit early, you still get pretty good seats that way most of the time.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

Does anyone know what's happening with how they are accomodating those that usually are in the Wade stand and this year's seating? I.e. are we still all going to have first right of refusal to keep our existing seats as per normal, or are some people going to get asked to move as a result of trying to accomodate those reserved seat holders given the reduced ground capacity next year?

They really should do this. I know the horse has bolted to some extent but the longer they wait the harder it is. It's both a great incentive and would be far better than a generic '20xx Geelong member'.

Only problem is they probably don't have bulletproof figures for length of tenture, as I know a few years back they asked on the membership form how many years I had been a member.

But in my opinion they should still do it.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

I don't even think they should have the year on the scarf.
It makes it feel redundant after one year. What a waste.

Maybe they can just release lapel pins etc.
One for 5 years of membership, 10, 15, 20 etc.

Not every year. Too costly and a waste.

They release a new scarf every year anyway, what is the difference?

I sit in the Doug Wade stand. A couple of weeks before the end of the season we were sent a form with 3 options on it.
1. To be reseated for next year alone and return to the "Doug Wade" stand the following year but there were no guarantees.
2. Take a 12 month leave of absence from your seat renewal. You would still have to pay for the membership otherwise you have no rights to your seating in 2013.
3. Don't take up your seat again and basically leave and try your luck again in 2013.

The first option of being relocated though means that not every person will be eligible to be relocated. We still have pay for our seating and membership but once the reseating has been filled on a ballot type system those who are unfortunate enough to miss out will be refunded their seat cost for next season and will have their seat assumed as having taken a leave of absence. But you will still have to pay for your membership you can't take a leave of absence from that. I am little pissed about this because I have been travelling from bendigo and have had the same seats for 20 years since i was 10. And I understand that its going to be difficult to accommodate everyone, but I don't care about everyone I only care about me. I don't care where i sit i'll sit on top of the Hickey stand if necessary I just want to be there.

I love that idea too.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

What do you mean? A different design?
I have no idea.

But putting numerals on it makes it redundant. A different style would just be that. You guys can name what jumper we wore in 2003. I on the other hand would not have a clue. They'll never remove it though.

It's their way of developing a culture of supporter pressure.
And we all know Carter loves that sort of stuff. Lives for it.

Sorry, I don't understand what you are talking about.

Every year you are entitled to a new free members-only scarf with your membership (or cap etc.). I've got about ten of them.

Hawthorn put the 'years of membership' on their yearly scarves.

I don't see how it's any different.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

I'm not saying it's any different.
I'm saying dont put 2012 or the number of years as a member on the scarf.

Why produce another 40,000 scarves next year? You already have 10 sitting in mothballs. What's the point in that?

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

I dunno about the scarf, but more blankets are needed to be made!!!!

I missed out on a blankie last season.:(

I love my blanket, it came in handy so many times last season (I felt like a Grandma when I used it at games lol!!)

They were a great membership item, so yeah, more blankies :)

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

They should just release a 'master' blanket or scarf that you can purchase.
And then each year send our badges that you sew into the garment.

So much more history can be taken to every game.
Imagine your grand kids with the blankets and 2011 premiers badges on them etc.

Anyway. I digress

Off topic, but when I worked at a camp thru Camp America, in 2001, the "going away" present they gave to all us counsellors was a blanket with the camp logo on it. Thought wtf is this crap at the time- but to this day I still have it- awesome blanket to cozy up on the couch with etc.

So yes, if possible I would love a Geelong version too! :thumbsu:

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

A great idea I saw once was a Hawthorn supporter who sewed all her membership scarves into a blanket!

Oh, that's clever!!!
I've probably got enough scarves too-I might ask my Nanna for some help to see what we can do.
