Medium sized back pocket or running half back with a 60m kick? Yes please.

He sounds like he could be the Shannon Hurn type of player that we need post Robert Murphy. What are the knocks on him?

Dogs are in excess of inside mids, correct? Would you be willing to trade any for Toy? We're pretty short on them. It will likely be a focus for ours to obtain an inside mid with Caddy leaving. Either through the draft or trading.

Problem is that three of our inside mids - Libba, Smith, Wallis, are untouchable.

The others are Boyd and Cross (too old).

We have a nice shiny Alex Greenwood though, you can have him for Toy.

Toy certainly has been struggling with injury. Achilles problem that has limited his stints at training and thus hindered his endurance.

With that said, he has yet to show any real flashes of what he could be at all. At least anything to justify the hype.
This is the thing.
It's not like he's played good patches but hasn't strung it together - like Patrick or Hall. Those guys you can see a good player in there, just not often enough.

This is just IMHO, but I don't think he's good enough.

Yes, but what'd Gold Coast want for him?
I'm sure they won't just give him to us..
Gold coast have to cut their list this season. From 46 to 39 I believe, so this could actually help them out in this regard and maybe they'll give him to us cheaper. Wont take a player off us, but that's alright.

Isnt Josh Toy a KPP?

Edit for i guess not, for some reason i thought he was. my mistake.

I don't think they'll take a player, they need to trim their list from 46 to 39 this season. Given his lack of consistency in the past etc. etc. Maybe we could get him for a 3rd rounder? They'd probably want our second rounder at least though,

Josh Hill was less than a fizzer, but even he has been able to transform himself into a role player at a new club.
Hill also went to one of the stronger clubs in the league. Most players can look good in strong teams.

We should play hardball on this one. No other clubs have shown interest and our second rounder is too valuable to give up in this draft. How much can the Suns really expect to get for a kid who has not played one good game of AFL and wants to move back to Melbourne? We should offer something like a pick upgrade.

Have seen him play a fair bit, haven't been overly impressed TBH.

Would be interested if we could get him fairly cheap. Seems more in the mould of a Dale Morris undersized defender (5cm shorter than Morris), than a running HBF. Harbrow already plays that role there anyway.

The knock on him is that he's not shown any form at any point whatsoever and in fact struggled for a game behind absolute trucks.
Apart from that, he's Shannon Hurn meets Bob Murphy meets Luke Hodge.

I wouldn't be against us picking up a small lockdown defender in the later rounds of the draft, seems like the only gap in our future team (going by our young players and the players I see us taking this year)

A back line of

Roberts, Roughy, 'Lockdown defender'
Wood/Toy, Talia, JJ

Could be very very good, no one is going to be able to score on them but also has plenty of rebound (add Tutt and Howard as well)
