It's extremly hard predicting a 22 for next season but if I had to have a rough go:

JJ Lake Morris
Wood Roughead Murphy
Mayes Boyd Wallis
Addison Williams Dalhaus
Dickson ????? Higgins
???? Griffen Picken

Libba, Howard, Smith, Cooney

JJ Austin Morris
Wood Roughead Murphy
Dahlhouse Boyd Wallis
Addison Williams jones
Dickson lake Higgins
Campbell Griffen Picken

Libba, Howard, Smith, Cooney, Cordy, skinner DP

@TK: if you are referring to the conversation between Peter Wallis and myself, we were thinking about what we would do if Melbourne defeated the Crows and ended up higher on the ladder than us.

yeah....makes more sense.....I reckon it's unlikely by the way Adelaide have too much to lose....as does Melbourne.....but you never know.

Surely Cooney should be paid out now and delisted?

Two seasons say he is taking up a spot we could use with someone with two knees.

Very harsh but i semiagree with this, keep him until his contract is finished and play him forward/sub then unless he takes a MASSIVE cut force him to retire/delist.

According to Irene Chatfield, Hooper is gone. Already been told, apparently almost in tears.

If that's true, you gotta feel for Hooper. Though Bulldogs need to be ruthless if they want to win a flag.

I'm pretty sure I read an article where he came back a bit pudgey during his first pre-season. Rookie mistake, but when you dont have the most gifted body type you gotta take all your chances.

We could trade Minson to GWS or GCS then pick up Grundy in the draft. That way we will have 2 quality rucks in 3-4 seasons, even though they may suffer in 2013. For Minson we could upgrade or make a play for Toy, Caddy or even Trent McKenzie.

Really want us to get another 2nd rounder. These picks are what make teams if they are nailed. We are going to be shit next season, why not trade away some sort of value. There's no difference to being shit or shitter (if you know what i mean).

This link from some south australian source reckons Menzel is a top 5 prospect, while Mayes and Kennedy are top 10 prospects.

I havent heard Menzel going that high anywhere else, so I m wondering if any SA dogs fans have an opinions

I would definitely rate Menzel in the top 10, not sure about top 5 though.

He has had a few injuries including a knee this year & is very similar to his brother at Geelong in the way he plays. I don't think he is the sort of player we need to make a priority right now, given our midfield deficiencies.

He will be a very good AFL player though.

I've talked up Menzel a bit in this forum whereas most posters want Mayes so I find it interesting that Menzel is rated higher than Mayes by Phillips (albeit in June). Still a lot of water to go under the bridge before the top 10 settle down.

Depends on how many players we want to upgrade from the rookie list, who we keep and how we think the likely injured players of this year are going to be next year.

I believe you need a minimum of 3 picks, plus rookie upgrades.

We have played 4 rookies - Austin, Campbell, JJ and Jong. JJ seems to be a lock to upgrade. If Morris and Williams return, we can play Lake, Morris, Talia, Williams, Markovic and Roberts as tall defenders. On that basis you may not need to upgrade Austin, keep him as backup.

If you delist/trade Markovic and are worried about the injuries of Williams and Morris, then you could upgrade Austin as well.

If Minson leaves, then upgrading Campbell is the obvious replacement, although without a proven ruckman we'd be hoping that Campbell, Roughead and Cordy can cope for an entire year - something they are yet to prove.

If you also upgrade Jong (in addition to the others) you'll need at least 7 spots open. Given our ladder position and the strong draft, if we have 5 live picks (not rookie upgrades), then we should get all 5 picks before pick 50 (roughly).

That would mean delisting another 5 players. This creates a bit of a list balancing problem, as the guys you are replacing them with are (typically) 18 - 19 years old.

So we would potentially create similar problems to this year, for next years side. In that they aren't physically ready for a full year and the performances drop off. I suspect that they will move down this path, preparing for a full list transition and gradual improvement in 2014 and onwards.

So - Hargrave and Gilbee, Hooper and Mulligan - my thoughts on the remaining 5 would be Moles, DJ, Sherman, Markovic (traded if necessary) and Vesz. Skinner and Hill would also be at risk, although potentially could be re-rookied.
I know the club had said it will not look at any free agents which are players around the 26 and older area, but does anyone think we might be a player during trade week for any players in the 22-25 age bracket.

I hope that we trade for picks if we do anything at all in trade week. It might be a way to offload some 22 - 25 year old players we no longer want, but I can't see us being too active bringing players in, except via the draft.

Wouldnt mind picking up Toy if he came cheap, the kid was touted as a potential number 1

If we do trade anyone out, perhaps when the deal is ready to go, we might ask the other team to throw in a late pick they have no intention of using anyway. Just to help with rooky upgrades, so they don't interfere with our draft day selections, or force us to risk players looking elsewhere if we want to leave them on the rooky list.
