It's all a smokescreen to make up for them hoarding draft picks through the mini draft, which was supposed to get them these senior players. They may trade 1 of them...maybe.

I was joking about the pears for 13 trade btw, I'm only serious if it goes through.
This is exactly right, i wouldnt be surprised if the afl has told them to say this as everyone will be claiming they have over equiped these new teams. Also, if tippetts worth only pick 13 or so, what players that are tradable are actually worth the top picks?

Craig Vozzo of WCE says we're interested in Stevens along with St Kilda and Footscray. No front runner at this stage, but looking for a pick in the 30s. I daresay we're trying to find a compromise between 32 and 48.

Lol, Vozzo says Mitch Brown WILL not be traded because he's contracted. Then two questions later says the Cripps deal is slower than they'd hoped because St Kilda is looking at nothing but Brown for him.

Chris Pelchen will destroy that club.

Kobey for #32 sounds good to me.

God no. 48 maybe. Maybe.

I do not want pick 32 for him, but would accept 48 if we have to have him. I'd be happy not to get him at all, but if we get him for cheap then I won't be too worried.

Agreed, maybe we should get in his ear and get him to walk into the pre season draft:p. Really i'm no draft expert like 99% of us on here but looking at a few of the phantom drafts the midfielders in this draft seem to run deep why not try and draft one that very well could come good. Instead of someone who hasn't looked like he is AFL standard and wasn't really even backed in by his own coaches this year.
And the final age old point who is he going to push out because IMO he isn't better than Watson, Hocking, Howlett, Myers, Heppell and Goddard because we also have to remember he is a one position player so its midfield or no where.

I had a bit of a search for @ant555's posts on Koby Stevens dating back to pre-2009 draft, because I haven't ever seen him.

Footnotes:

- One paced
- Big bodied, but not as reliable as Howlett, Hocking, Myers
- Average skilled

Doesn't sound amazing.

That's my take on it too. Koby is only 21, he may have some upside left, but I dont see why we need him at all.

Also haven't seen a whole lot of him, but he sounds to me a bit like Myers without the kick. Not that Stevens can't kick, but one of Myers' strengths is the length and penetration of his kicking.
Stevens I'd do for 48. Not 32. And it's a take it or leave it situation.

Grass is always greener.
A speculative 3rd rounder in a less than fantastic draft for a kid with an afl ready body who comes from a good system isn't the worst deal (for pick 48).

Will welcome the kid with open arms if we get him, but won't be disappointed if we go to the draft.

Stkildas 35-36 or the dogs 41-42 should get the deal done - I hope.

Otherwise he can just walk into the PSD because he will with the knowledge he will likely get picked up by either Melbourne or the buldogs for nothing which will see him land in victoria.
