Re: Player X v Player Y

Rhys Palmer v Dangerfield (Fyfe in the gap left by either MID/Forward)

Im going to go against the grain on this one & say Palmer. I think he's been a proven DT scorer in the past.
In my opinion, Dangerfield, although the better footballer & I love him playing for the Crows, may not be as much of a DT'er.
I may be wrong, but I would punt on Palmer.

Here's mine & its a bit structural as well.

Option 1.
Maric & his mullet v HMac for R2, plus Ebert at M4

Option 2.
Orren, leaving Giles at R2, plus A Swallow at M4

Cant decide on the better structure & then the HMac v Maric.
Im leaning option 1 with Maric because for some reason I think its safer in rucks & Im punting on Ebert vs punting on Giles in opt 2.

Thoughts?

Re: Player X v Player Y

Cloke + Kerridge + Lake
vs
Heppell + Saad + Parker.

I really want to squeeze Parker into my team, but apart from Kerridge and Sadd cancelling each other out, it comes down to Cloke and Lake vs Parker and Heppell.

Am i crazy for going with Heppell and Parker?

I must say I have the same issue as your option 1, as I am looking at more versatility in the ruck area. I'm also looking at Ebert as 4th mid as well, simply for the fact that he will get his preference of mid playing at Port.

Re: Player X v Player Y

Dickson vs. Treloar vs. Pfeifer

Pick 1.

My thoughts (cause I don't like it when people ask these things without at least putting down some thoughts as well):

-Treloar no preseason... will lack match fitness and might not be instant best 21 if he's been injured.
-Pfeifer... wasn't that amazing when he played for Carlton. Not that DT friendly then. Now he plays for an even less possession friendly side. Should play every week though as port have a weak list.
-Dickson. Older. Stronger. Best 21. There is a spot in the team for him to take. Showed quite a bit in the preseason.

Therefore, for me, Dickson wins. But still not sure.

I'll never understand the attitude of Bigfooty posters that if a club has a group of average players, the way to fix that problem is to replace one of those average players with another average player from somewhere else.

Pfeiffer is no better than most of the guys who played for Port last year. He'll be lucky to play in the first week, let alone every week.

So you're saying Port drafted a 24 yr old that is not going to play?

Re: Player X v Player Y

Hale and james mcdonald
Or
I maric and coniglio
??

Leaning towards maric and coniglio, gives me a safe(er) rookie to have on the field and i think maric will score as much or at least close to hale this year being the sole ruck at richmond.

We drafted a 24 year old who's going to be used as a depth player, e.g. Ashton Hams at West Coast.

Re: Player X v Player Y

h mac vs maric

Hmac: Greater scoring potential, proven, however has Goldstein to compete with.
Maric: No one to compete with anymore, Unproven - strong PS.

IMO they will score in a very close range to each other.

Scotland + Sidebottom

Or

Goddard + Sidebottom

Or

Suckling + Chapman

Or Chapman + similar price/lower price player to Suckling? Have Deledio & Shaw.

Cheers mate, holds more weight too being a Crow..

FWIW I'm not an Ebert fan so may be biased in saying Option 2. Think Giles will match Ebert most weeks, and Swallow exceed Maric/Hmac.

What are your thoughts on his chances to play round 1 now, considering he got named in the 22 that played last week ahead of guys like Wingard, Rodan and Carlisle.

We also haven't seen Pittard play this NAB cup campaign, is he injured and when will he return?

Hartlett and Cassisi didn't play against Melbourne either.

Pittard is returning from hamstring injury, would be at least 2-3 weeks of solid SANFL form from returning.

Re: Player X v Player Y

I'd take the first option. It's more proven.

Chapman + Palmer
vs
Montagna + Dangerfield

I reckon the 1st - Chappy has done well since returning and Palmer looks like a perfect DTer.

Montagna was in my team for much of the pre season, but from what i've seen i haven't really thought he'd get back to that 110-120 avg, looks to be copping a bit more attention. Yet to trust Dangerfields consistency.

Re: Player X v Player Y

Dangerfield or Sidebottom?

Sidebottom for me is a little more proven.

I also tend to lean towards Sidebottom because he plays for the pies and they are a very high scoring DT side, so more points to be a part of.

Dangerfield obviously cheaper and talked up each year. Adelaide should be better this year and a pretty good draw could see their points increase.

If you can improve your team elsewhere by bringing in Dangerfield i'd consider it, but from a isolated stand-point i'd take Sidebottom.

Thanks for the input mate.

Taking Montagna is making a commitment to him as your 6th midfielder by the end of the year I feel. He is currently priced at about 95-97 from what I remember, if he can lift that to 105 then he'll be a solid 6th mid. I don't think he needs to be averaging 110 to 120.

I've been burnt by Palmer in the last two seasons so I'm a little apprehensive of picking him again.

Oh well, just a few more days to go, no doubt I'll be trading back and forth between players...:)

Re: Player X v Player Y

yeah i was thinking that but ive been clouded by the hype around danger and at the same time i barrak for the pies so a little bias towards sidey...

what worries me is that i might miss the dangerfield bandwagon, last year i opted against petrie which ended up costing me, so if i choose danger and he does a "petrie" this year i'll probably end up doing this:
