Of course it is a Hinkley/Richardson thing - as stated they are "his players now" - if he wanted them he would have kept them - it's their nuts on the line.
We get too attached to players - Kinkley and Richardson would know our players more than we realise. As assistant coaches they would have a dossier on every player in the AFL and would know them well - if they don't, they wouldn't be doing their job. Kinkley would have been asked questions on our list at his interviews.
I'm not as attached to players as you would believe. I am against consistently poor decision from the same ****wit that has been at the club since 2005. I am pissed off because we have NO small defender depth now and Banner was an excellent depth option

The changes are no different to the same idiotic football operations department decisions since Peter Rohde first polluted Alberton in 2005. The more things change the more they stay the same

They were crap during Choco's end, they were crap during Primus' tenure and they are crap to begin Hinkley's era. Notice a theme?

We wanted change - looks like we'll get it.

This is a cop-out. We could delist Hartlett, Wingard, Brad Ebert and Schulz, that would be 'change'. We didn't just want change, we wanted positive change. Apart from Phillips which was a no-brainer, none of the changes that needed to be made were made, and at least one change (arguably three) that certainly didn't need to be made has been.

We aren't going to agree here because you want to blame Rohde for these delistings - the final decision has got to be with the coaches - blame them.

That really doesn't concern me because I've been paying attention to the state of the list and the stupid moves from 2005 and onwards

Logan remains but Surjan gets delisted. I'm still in shock! I consider Logan to be the worst player in AFL not just our list. Yet he survives the cut instead of our best small defender. I understand that Surj would not be part of the next premiership tilt but nor is Logan. And also, we still have to show some dignity until we get there. With the Logans in the team, we are bound to be coppings shelackings of 100+ point losses.
It's official now, Rohde has been installed into our club with the sole purpose of driving it to the ground.

this is seriously a screwed situation. I think Suj MUST have some physical issues (which we have no idea about) which must be stopping him from playing. it is the ONLY reason i could see for them to get rid of him.

Yep that's my thinking. 3 seasons of struggling to get on the park suggests they weren't prepared to rehire him. I suspect he has no trade value othersise Rohde would have done a trade by now. Rodan I would have thought has trade value but no surprise he has been delisted.. The rest no surprise.

Sad but needed - the last 4 years have made me numb to list changes.

Fair to say these blokes will all struggle to find another home. What chace Surj stays at the Maggies and gets into more coaching?

When thinking it through logically then its not a surprise that Surjan is gone. He hasnt played a lot of football over the last three years and keeping on a 27yo injury prone back pocket probably isnt high up the list of the new regime's priorities. We all love the guy. Hes a real cult hero of our club, but I can see the process behind him missing out. THey probably think PIttard can do the job next year.

Logan stays because for 2 of the last 3 years he's been pretty good. Wasnt long ago that Logan had a positive cult following on this board.

Weve lost 5 players from our defense this off season. Not sure we can afford to lose many more without expecting big big losses next year. 8 changes off the list so far. Not sure we want too many more

All facebook page jokes aside, Rodan was the perfect sub/impact player as he showed in his last game, little bit surprised tbh.

Still a bit of deadwood to clear out, unless the coaching staff can see some upside to the ones being kept that we think should be gone.

Unlucky for Surj, bled Port Adelaide.

reality check ...
They are all fringe players at best. Yes, some of them can play and have proven it.
No way are they in our starting 22 though - not consistent enough, no weapons.

If we recruit well... the chances of them even being in our first 25, 26, 27 or 28 become much slimmer.
Barring a horror run of injuries these guys will never play a game in 2013 - so why keep them on the list. We are not going to contend for a premiership next year, we are going to develop our squad and get our structure right. It's finger out time in 2013 ... no more gold passes ... for a host of others I would think also. Hinkley does not strike me as someone content to have us drift (a la Richmond) year-after-year ... he's going to do something about it.

This is the sort of thinking that someone coming fresh into the club would have ... all good.
I'm going to back them (Hinkley and Richardson) that they know what they're doing - until they prove me otherwise ;)

Agreed that a few others will also go depending on how the trading table pans out.

I'm not a Rohde fan by any means but give the Club some credit, it wouldn't be his decision alone.
Somehow I think they would have shopped players around if they had any value.
Given the delistings I guess there was little or no interest.
Also it is quite noticeable that no-one expected this - looks like the leaks have stopped......

Wondering why we did chose to straight delist Rodan? I guess we had no bites at all for a trade and had to make a call.
Hopefully Thomas, Stewart and Logan are all put up for trade, with at least one of them being delisted if there are no offers.

Lmao what are you smoking man bc clearly the smokescreen in front of your eyes is hindering your vision.

LOL @ Daniel Stewart keeping his place on the a list. Unbelievable.

At least Logan has the 'gives 100%' excuse. Daniel Stewart doesn't even have that.

We aren't going to agree here because you want to blame Rohde for these delistings - the final decision has got to be with the coaches - blame them.

The coaches have been here 5 minutes. Rhode and Cripps have been here for 5+ years each. I'd be very surprised if they weren't just acting on what Rohde and Cripps were telling them. They probably would've had a veto power, but I doubt Hinkley would know much about the capabilities of guys like Surjan and Banner anyway. Back pockets always go under the radar and somehow I doubt Hinkley has been avidly following the SANFL.

I really hope so

We can debate Surjan a bit but other than him no massive surprises. And there is talk of knee...

So currently 8 spots on list... we currently have 4 picks roughly in top thirty and perhaps another to come - does that point to us trying to bring in 3 more senior guys as fa/psd and using up 5 high end picks?

Whilst I have no real issue with the list of players delisted (thought surj could get another year), the more players we remove from our first 22 and fringe raises the likelihood that we will need to play the likes of logan, hitchy, thomas & megahead all in the team start of next year. Would be a lot more comfortable if we were adding some experience beyond monfries so far. This is certainly shaping as a substantial rebuild. I have faith in this direction for the medium term however there could be more pain to come next year before we see the upside.

Or the other way you can look at it is it raises the likelihood that we will play the likes of Ah Chee, Butcher, Gray, Newton, Pittard & Salter ???? (all never really played much this year due to injury/form). Then you throw in the new recruits of Monfies, Jarrah ? and the early draft picks from this year!

With the amount of draft picks we have surely we have to strike it lucky one year and unearth a gun player???
