Zorko & Horesly, two players I'll be watching very closely.

Coniglio, Wingard, Stevens.
Walsh.
Giles, Stepherson.
Ellis, Buntine.
^all locks.

James Magner could get a go for Melbourne. $94k, big mature bodied midfielder which is exactly one of the things Neeld outlined as something we required.

GWS Rookies

GWS have loads of cheap rookies.

Does anyone have any info or an opinion on who will get a lot of game time next season.

I'm particularly interested in hearing about the pre-listed players but would also appreciate information on some of the high draft choices they took (e.g. tomlinson, adams, smith etc).

Thanks :)

Edit: Mods please remove this thread, I didn't realise there was one already open about the same topic. Apologies.

Re: GWS Rookies

Watch the NAB Cup and wait for the team lists. Other than the safe-ish picks (Hampton, Bruce, Shiel, Coniglio, Folau) I think the rest could be toss-ups for playing spots, even players like Treloar, Golds and Buntine with high wraps on them.

Re: GWS Rookies

Guys, I have a bit of a GWS dillema. Would you suggest going with Stephen Coniglio or Anthony Miles?

Re: After the draft...... Your Rookie locks

The big O for Geelong should sit comfortably on most ruck benches.

Agree. Orren Stephenson has the mature body and composure that will see him as a sure starter. Recruiter Stephen Wells is one of the best in the business & would not have wasted his time on this bloke if he wasn't capable of delivering early. Look at their gamble with Pods and didn't that pay off!

The out right best! Recruited every player from a triple premiership team without any top 5 or priority picks. The mans an institution. :p

Re: After the draft...... Your Rookie locks

Agree but he did get some very nice FS selections

Yeah thats true, kinda even's things out. Got another this year as well :p

Yeah good prospect for the 'Michael Barlow Medal'. JJ Liston winner, should slot in nicely.
if he played for a decent team he probably would be but remember the 3300 points cap and the fact gws will be slaughtered every week so that might drag his points lower

Yes, but a quality player is a quality player at the end fo the day. I'd rather get a player that averages 50 (and "should" average 80 albeit the team dynamic drags it down) as opposed to a player that averages 50 (and averages 50).....

I don't get it??? They both average 50?

But one at least shows the potential for improvement. However frustrating, a player that scores below his skill level due to playing in a poor team is a better prospect than a player who scores low becuase his best is simply not good enough.

Regardless, I think Clifton will score well above 50, should be capable of an 80 avergae, 70-75 at least early one whilst he is finding his feet.

hey nameless, where did you get this info from??

My point was simply stats don't mean as much as some people place on them. If you feel like a player is better than his average (particularly if you've watched them play, more so if you watch them regualarly) then go with it.
