The only things that are definite are the things that you can prove with evidence. Everyone's memory is faulty.

To quote a less successful Democratic presidential candidate, it is possible to be certain and wrong.
The first part of what you said is absolute rubbish. If I saw a man that I knew shoot another man but there was no evidence except my word does that mean it is not definite? In the court it might not count as sufficient evidence but it is still definite.

I'm guessing that it's no coincidence that since Kerr joined us we haven't used a pick after pick 50 in the draft. Could just be because the drafts have been compromised though.
He did talk a couple of years ago about bringing our average selection down.

I'm not sure how that fits with us unearthing a few gems in the pre-season and rookie drafts though.

Off topic but if you watch this whole program you see how dodgy your memory is and how it can't be trusted in court.

Also from one of my favourite movies.

It's about the facts, not memories. :p

Yep, he remarked in 2010 that the Lions have had an aim to get their average draft selection down (from 44) after several years of picking into the 70s and later. Since then we've seen us use our later picks to bring in targeted players (Zorko, Hudson, Martin, Bewick) rather than go the ND route.

You'd probably also remember where and how it happened. You said yourself you couldn't remember exactly what Kerr said or where you'd seen it.

No.

The minidraft bidding comes after father son bidding.

OK, that'll do it, thanks :thumbsu: I still think pick 3 outbids 7 and 22, but it's a much closer run thing and would probably depend on what GWS were looking for. The likes of Grundy or Stringer vs Mayes and Tanner Smith. I think they'd rather the stand-out Ruckmen, but who knows.

Anyway, this is just my way of making myself feel better about the whole thing. Nevertheless, we can look forward to getting him for free in 7 or 8 years time!

I once heard that Voss would rather have played for Collingwood, it's not documented anywhere and no one else can back me up but it still happened. I'm not a liar.
Well I find that very hard to believe. At least what I have said is documented somewhere. On the Lions website by the man himself, Rob Kerr. Thanks for coming to play.

Whoosh!

Also the Buckey went to Collingwood to win flags. It's probably documented somewhere, but I'm always happy to bring it up!

Wouldn't it be awesome if part of Melbourne's punishment was to have their mini-draft pick taken away from them...

Just thinking of that! Would love to somehow magically end up with Hogan. Maybe we could put a case forward saying that we had an offer which was trumped by Melbourne with the use of compensation picks which they received through tanking. The AFL might allow us to trade pick 8 for Hogan or possibly send him to the 2012 National Draft and we could pick him up there. Bit of a long shot, but anything's possible.

GWS: Retain pick 13 and receive pick 8, but in doing so relinquish pick 3 making it moot.
Lions: Receive Hogan and trade pick 8.
Collingwood: Keep pick 20 for Dawes.
Melbourne: Lose pick 4, Hogan & pick 27. Get to keep Dawes because that's punishment enough.

Leaving the Top 10 of the draft to go as such:
Pick 1: GWS
Pick 2: GWS
Pick 3: Western Bulldogs
Pick 4: Western Bulldogs
Pick 5: Port
Pick 6: GWS (formally Lions)
Pick 7: Richmond
Pick 8: Essendon (F/S Daniher)
Pick 9: Carlton
Pick 10: GWS

Can't help but wonder if, had we known earlier that Tippett wasn't going to come to Brisbane, could we have made a big play for Dayne Beams. :/
Maybe. If we had a bit more flexibility in that regard we probably could have pushed much harder for him

But that's cool. We can just grow our own instead.

Dayne Beams will be known as Clayes brother in the not so distant future.
Lol. Love the surety there...

"You know, Claye Beams' brother... can't remember his name... he was top-10 in the Brownlow, and won the B&F in a top-4 side against Swan and Pendles... of course, he's got nothing on Claye... I mean, Claye has managed 13 games, total, in a bottom 8 side... Absolute gun..."

I sense you dont have too much faith in our young gun. He will be equal with his brother at worst.

Nah, I rank Claye. He's been learning the sport after changing from cricket, hence why he's taken a few years. He's got promise and prospect, and from here, he should be able to earn a fairly regular senior berth. And I would put him in on the fringe of our best 22, and he's only got upside from there... I just think it's pretty funny to suggest that Dayne will shrink into insignificance in his brother's shadow. I don't think you're overestimating Claye - I think you're underestimating Dayne. At this stage, Dayne has real promise and could well be in Brownlow contention. To do as well as he did this year in the Brownlow, considering who he was competing with for votes, and the fact that for the first half of the year, the umpires weren't looking for him (the only reason Swannie gets any votes) should show you just how good Dayne is and can become... Still very much a young fella. Just wish he were playing for a better team (which would be ANY OTHER team than the Wobbles).

If Claye becomes 3/4 of the player his brother will be, I'll be quite happy with our investment.

I was having a bit of a cheeky moment. I'm sorry for thinking our players have big things in store for us supporters :(.
