The big result could be the Eagles finishing the spot below us if we lose.

Could potentially take someone like Garlett ahead of us there imo.

Isn't there word that Garlett is pretty resolute that he wants to come to Melbourne?

If we lose to Collingwood today, we finish 12th and get picks 7 & 24 in the first two rounds. If we beat the Pies, we finish 10th and get picks 9 & 26.
Except that Adelaide don't have a pick (yes?!) so we only drop one draft pick, not two, if we win. And, regardless, we're a pick below the Weagles (and Brisbane if we win). For the first time in a long time I was hoping for a Weagles win yesterday.

Speaking of the Duckers, didn't they field their strongest team for the year against us?:(

If there is a chance to trade for a Key Forward we should. By that i mean if we get luke in the 2nd, Boyd should be our no. 1 target. We have Black as a certainty, ....but he is a flight risk. After that, Tarrant and Daw. yep. and Curran, who can't get on the park.

You would have to be a lunatic to think otherwise. And if he does get lured, or gets homesick, our fwd line is ****ed.

Get Boyd. Trade up pick 6 and a player if we have to.

Also, whoever we pick needs to have the Jack Ziebells level of leadership and devotion. We have too many soft *****, blokes who are happy to plod along, and not enough out and out win at all costs culture at the club. It's a problem, and it's one that needs addressing if we want to go on with it.

mmm,i need to reassess my expectations. They have gone to shit as far as dominating the draft/trade period.

Now that Luke is a lock in the 1st, I would like to see Garlett in the 2nd, BUT...it just ain't going to happen.

One best 22, absolute gun, 14 year player is good going though.:thumbsu: LMac to line up RD 1.

Speedy short guy that slides in the second?...must have tank!!

Billy Hartung, 16+ beep, <180cm, kicks a shit load of goals and regularly outplayed Lachie Whitfield in school footy (playing a year younger)

I've already got my hopes up that we'll get him

There are only a few clubs showing any interest mate. And although his talent would get him picked up in the first two rounds, there would only be a few clubs willing to take the risk and we are one of them. The club is obviously confident they can get him they have had 2 meetings with him now and will have more at draft camp. Only real dangers i can see are West Coast and St Kilda. But he wants to get out of Perth so West Coast would be wasting a pick and Saints have had off field trouble so i doubt they would take the risk. We are a big chance of getting him in the second, i even heard the other day that he could even slip to the rookie draft because a lot of teams arent prepared to give him a guaranteed spot.

Have heard a lot of good things about this kid. Is supposed to be quick and not a bad user either. Seems to have many weapons so not sure why he isn't considered more highly.

Most likely due to his height, however if the other clubs want to overlook a potential gun because he is "small", then I'll be more than happy for North to read his name out in November

Yeah height and I guess skinny frame, but he will develop. The fact that he has that combination of an endurance/accumulating type AND break away speed along with neat footskills to boot is what really makes me sit up and take notice. Exactly what we need but I feel will be gone before our second round unfortunately :( perhaps a jay kennedy-harris is more likely at that pick

Lloyd reckons we should pick Billings, Kelly or Aish ahead of McDonald if any of them are available.
Just saw that, pretty much said we would if that were the case.

Can't see us passing on McDonald unless something is arranged where he is able to slide to our second rounder. Have invested too much time/money into him to not select the kid.

I think people should just accept that we are going to use our first rounder.

If he somehow slips through, then it's like winning the lottery. At least we don't have too long to speculate, the bidding is before trade week, so straight after the grand final pretty much.

excuse me for being a bit thick but...
what possible interest can these other teams have to recruit LMac
assuming he is keen, really keen to play for north
if another team signs him isn't it more likely than not than after 2 or 3 years he will try to go to north again
so the other club 'develops' him and he leaves anyway
isn't this risk too high for the other club

the only response that makes sense is that the other club can successfully 'bond' him
not impossible as probably most players play for clubs they didn't barrack for

but isn't LMac like another team drafting Joe Daniher?
it seems pointless to me
Please explain

Yeah but if you were a f/s and been in what Luke has with the club and the club to turn their back on you, would you still be loyal to them after 2 years with another club?

I no if stay loyal to the club that took me. Think with north and Tom Carrun now.
