Good balance between inside and outside as well. I would argue that he is the best well rounded mid in the draft!

Unfortunately broke his collar bone in the last few minutes of the game.

Sheed best game so far and just wondering how much better Acres would have played if he didn't pop his shoulder out after kicking the first first goal. considering how he played after 1/2 time i think he will go high in the draft as he can play good even with a dislocated shoulder, also shows his tuffness.

Probably will go late in the draft, could be anything, hope we get him for our 3rd rounder.

If we get Luke for a 1st round pick, we should trade everything else.

If we get Luke for a 2nd round pick then we should take the two players and then trade.

I didn't see anything on yesterdays brief analysis that is worth chasing for a pick in the 20's and onwards (D. Garlett aside). I reckon it's going to be a slim draft.

mmmmmm. a slight change of tune there chief.

we will end up with Kelly and Lmac...if our players keep playing the way they do.

I only watched metro v SA and gotta say I agree. I didn't see a lot that I thought "Gezuz, how good's that bloke!"
Again though, only going on 50% of the available games to watch.
LMac didn't look right and I was also surprised by his lack of size. Kinda assumed he'd look bigger than a lot I of the kids having been in our system this year. Then again half the Roos blokes look undersized to me every week.

Size wise, he'll be somewhere in between Hodge and Birchall during his prime.

Will probably fill out to be a comfortable 88-90kgs.

Yeah righto HH3. I was just a little surprised how big he didn't seem. That was all. Think people expecting Luke to play straight up and every game next year need to temper their enthusiasm. Will take the usual time of an 18 year old IMO. Doesn't have that Ollie Wines mature age shape as yet.
Just on this, how does he compare, size wise, to Wines at this stage last year?

We need to trade for picks, fill up on young players with potential, and players to take over from our olders players.

I dont mean to intrude, and mean no harm but you wouldn't want to find yourself in the same position as what the Demons find themselves in right now.

They thought it would be good to go for youth but the kids cannot, I repeat CANNOT lead kids, one or two may be able to, but not a whole football club.

Be wary with going all out for youth

I mean trade the players that are looking for more opportunities get picks back or a player we could use and then with our higher picks get the best young talent available and with our later picks and rookie picks get like 3 mature age recruits.

We are not completely void of leadership. We have blokes like swallow, Harvey, Petrie, ziebell and others.

We just need to find a few more gems in the draft to replace our c-grade pkayers

Yeah, that's a fair observation Snake.

Ollie entered the system with a strong body. He would have been upwards of 86kgs, easily.

In saying that, Luke has that hard edge ball winning ability that Wines has, but in addition, he can play that outside role at AFL level, and really hurt with his vision, poise, and execution by foot.

Brad McKenzie as an example, stands at a very similar height, and weighs around 84kgs this season. People are happy to see him in the senior line-up, I think Luke would be able to acquit himself at the top level also. Keep in mind, he'll have another pre-season to work on his body and conditioning. I think he'll come on quicker than most 18 year olds entering the system.

If you get a chance, have a look at Brisbane and watch Sam Mayes. Luke will probably come in next year and perform a very very similar role. I would suggest, similar build, similar role. Don't take too much stock in the championships and Luke's performance against SA.

Gotta say, I saw 2 Metre Peter play in the under 18's carnival last Friday at Kardinia Park and for a guy around the 190cm mark, he moved very nicely. He reminded me of a young Jeff "Polly" Farmer and boy, if he's half the footballer he was, we're onto something in a big way my friend.

how about Darcy Gardiner for a look?

Dont think we will get a chance to secure him given our commitment to the Duke and the almost certainty he will be a first rounder but the mail is he would be a great shutdown backman.

IT was at last year's national under-18 carnival that key position prospect Darcy Gardiner announced himself on the big stage as a top draft hopeful.
Power forward Jesse Hogan was putting on a clinic of contested marking for Western Australia and loomed large on the wide expanses of Subiaco.
By quarter-time, WA was three goals up on Vic Country and something had to give.
Gardiner, who started the match up forward, was swung into defence and went on to completely shut the highly rated Hogan out of the game.

We definitely need to be looking a drafting a big bodied kpd this year. Probably more likely from the third or fourth round, someone we can sit in the VFL for a few years.
