He's so dreamy.

I know lots of blokes who love Carlton - and hate everything that has gone on at the Club, over the last ten years - especially Pagan and his bullshit and Ratts. If Malthouse gets the team playing competitive football - they might change their minds and buy memberships again -but yeah hard nuts and hard to convince - lots of bitter disappointment to get over.

I think that most people on this board would agree that the club and the membership department have been less than outstanding in their offer to members over quite a period. Add to that a lack of on field success and some contentious decisions off field and it adds up to what we have as far as membership numbers.

I think some people need to realize you can't just flick a switch in one off season and change people's perceptions. Yes, the membership has lifted it's game and the club media department is putting out some great work, but it is going to take time for this to translate to, hopefully a big increase in membership numbers. The club needs to keep up the hard work over the long haul, if we want to start to bridge the gap to Collingwood etc. that have a big headstart in this area.

The increases will come but it will take some time to build momentum and we need to take it one game at a time :)

Funny how our NAB loss has been analysed from all quarters yet other clubs' poor performances stand for nothing and excuses made at every call.
This has been the most frustrating part of the last week. Because our game was televised, all sections of the media, plus the football community in general, were all across what happened in the NAB Cup GF whereas only a handful saw what happened to Collingwood down at Kardinia 'what's it called this year' Park & I have barely heard anything about North's 14 goal thrashing at Craigieburn, in a game that was called off early due to inclement weather (we called an intra-club game off a couple of years ago & got absolutely hammered by all & sundry, yet there was barely a murmur about Hawthorn & North taking an early shower due to the weather conditions). No-one raised any concerns about Richmond struggling to shrug off an ordinary Bulldogs team, or St Kilda's loss to an expansion club.

Nowadays a Carlton loss means more to many in the football community than their own team winning. Sad, but true.

Can someone quote this so I can like it again?

There really is no love for Carlton outside of Carlton and I think we've passed the filth as the club everyone loves to kick.

I just renewed my membership today (3 home game mship). Can I use my mship for next Thursday nights game if I don't receive my card in the mail in time?

MSR 3 VOTES !!!!

We haven't updated our numbers for the second morning in a row.
Going to be hard work enticing the fence-sitters after that horrible NAB loss.

A bit like politics atm... lots of bad press about Labour and nothing about the Libs. And if there is something about the libs, it's usually a fluff piece.

The footballing media have their agenda and thats playing to the non-Carlton crowd because that seems to be where they will be making all their money. If there were constant fluff pieces about Carlton through the papers, they wouldnt sell as many copies to the Richmond/Collingwood/Essenscum ferals. Although we all know that they only steal the papers anyway.

If Carlton wasnt the most feared/envied/hated club in the country... then there would be an agenda against someone else and we would be getting lots of fluff pieces about us.

Pretty sure you can. I think you go to the Membership tent before the game to get a pass. Probably worth ringing the Club to check though.
