Am I correct in thinking that only match attending memberships count toward the official tally, and that things like at-home memberships are revenue generators only? Pretty sure I read it somewhere...or conveniently made it up.

The AFL evidently began counting non access memberships last year.

For starters I think our "At Home" membership needs to be revised.

The Filth's "Magpie Insider" membership costs $50 and gets them a free member's hat and scarf, membership card, lanyard, wallet, 15% discount on their store (MASSIVE PLUS - WHY THE EFF SHOULD MEMBERS PAY FULL PRICE ON MERCH!?) as well as a new member benefits/savings program they have started along with a few other things.

I would pay Carlton $90 for this type of membership.

Really? Is that why Richmond's and Essendon's tallies didn't get their annual review reduction?

Most definitely. Its why it was so interesting for me last year only hearing Richmond people going on and on about the access memberships being included in the official AFL tallies for the first time. Ill have to wait for the AFLs annual report to break it down.

I feel like the club needs to really take advantage and be innovative in terms of using the internet to attract members. The old days of the social club are no more but the internet can be used in much the same way.

For example what if the club had a facebook group/forum that only members could join that included the playing/coaching list. Giving members and club people a way to directly communicate. That'd almost be worth the price of membership on it's own.

Also would it be worthwhile having a 6 game "Rivals Membership" that included only our games verses Pies/Bombers/Tigers. I know a lot of Carlton supporters who pretty much only ever show up to those games and I'm sure there are many others who do to.

Just a few thoughts

so is 35k good or bad for this time of year???

Carlton were 33,783 on the 23rd. of FEB 2012
We'll have 36K by the same time this year hence up 2K or about 6.5% up.

If we manage to hold the 6.5% rise, we'll get to 48,500.
Of course strong wins early will help the numbers along but we're cutting it very fine trying to clock up 50K
