t2m , I see there was a bit in the media about Mitch Thorp wanting another shot. How would you assess him these days.Is he play forward back etc. Has a bit of a stigma about figjam and such , but one of the best player ever at the Pies had that label as well... and most people mature with experience.

Look forward to your assessment of Tas V QLD. Especially that HB Line, the brothers and Ales P.

I am not there, unfortunately, so will have to rely on other people's write ups. It's in Hobart. I hope I can find an upload of the game, but not counting on it.

As for Mitch Thorpe, you'd have to ask someone who pays more attention to the TSL than I do. I don't really watch that many TSL games, and when I do I am usually watching predominantly the Launceston Blues games and focusing on the draft age prospects.

No prob. Thanks for the reply.

What is Launceston to Hobart 1 Hr? 2Hr? Did it a long time ago but can't remember. Superficially its seems very split down there.

About 2 to 2.5 hours. I would have liked to have gone down to see the Darkmofo festival too, but it wasn't the best timing for me this weekend.

Hey , so a few of your names played well today. The two unpronounceable's and Pearce. Kade does sound like the real deal. What about Jake is he a raking left footer too.

New to Bigfooty. been watching the under 18 nationals extremely closely. obviously your big names have been playing well, was just wondering how the lesser names like Rohn bones and jake smith have been going. have been hearing great things about bones heard he looks and plays a bit like Ben Mcevoy! Was ust wondering why he didn't play against WA and NT. jake smith creates magnificent drive from the backline and from what I hear he is a great character off the field. are these guys any chance of being picked up?

Heard Brady Grey is a ball magnet? Really good in the contest and has clean skills? Surely would be a chance of being picked up?

Yes, I'd have to say he is a chance at getting picked up, but I'd say he'd be a late round 2 proposition and onwards. Certainly not a definite like Templeton and KK. He has been pretty impressive in the champs, and very impressive for Burnie. Will be interesting to see if he gets a call up to the combine at the end of the year, but am tipping he'll at least do the state screening and probably should attract enough interest to get him to the combine.

Bones is a pretty useful ruck, but is not at the level of Nankervis. I'd have to rate him as fairly unlikely to be picked up by an AFL team at this stage. I'd say his best chance is to keep developing and maybe he'd be picked up as a mature ager, but just can't see him being drafted at his current level.

Jake Smith is an interesting one. He has been impressive from what I have seen in the champs. He's very good in contested situations and has good speed and decent skills. He's another one like Grey who I expect to at least get a state screening, if not go to the combine. Looking forward to see him play more for Launceston after the champs, to get a better reading on him.

No, Jake hasn't quite got the foot skills of Kade and whilst his right foot is serviceable, it is a slight knock I have on him at the moment. The good thing about Jake is he is not afraid to back his skills and take the game on, and I think for that reason he has the capability of growing into a very handy backman who can play a solid defensive role, but then switch to attack when the time comes to run the ball out of defense. Disposal is good, but needs to improve a bit in that area imo.

OK thanks T2M. Good article in The age today about the brothers K

So reading between the lines , a club may get KK with an R1 but may be able to get JK with R3 / Rookie? Sounds to me both would fit Geelongs needs.

* Thurlow being injured on the weekend is a bit of a downer , happens I suppose. Been very good this year , hope he is right again by finals.

I'd say Kade is a first rounder, pretty confident he could go anywhere from 7-25, but highly doubt he'll slip much further. To me, Jake has a bigger range. Could go from anywhere from late first round to not being drafted, although I am growing in confidence that he will be drafted. So third round is not out of the question for Jake.

It has been a good year for Thurlow. Was not aware of his injury on the weekend, hopefully it is not too serious.

another two I have been watching pretty closely have been JK and Toby Nankervis. JK has played some seriously good games on some good players. (Johnathan Marsh, Freeman from Queensland) and I think has been one of the best defenders in this years championships. Nankervis has dominated all his opponents and would be stiff to miss this years draft. Winning all the hitouts and taking numerous marks when he pushes forward and converting. Very good chance of being the All-Australian ruckman.

Yeah, I have mentioned before that Nankervis is looking like the AA ruckmen. Will have Kade and Jake as AAs too imo. Templeton should squeeze in there. Could have four AAs this year, which would be amazing for a div 2 team.

Gardiner, Giles, Spencer. Someone like Scharenberg could easily be named at CHB too, which takes away a spot. Jake has been good too, but there are only so many spots.
Yeah true that. I Think there are three spots there for his role - four at a stretch. I am not arguing JK is a better player than those guys, but on champs form alone, which is what AA is based on, he'd have to have a very strong chance imo. He's been very good.

T2M , the proposed new format for the u18's for next year... how do you see that that affecting the div2 teams? Shame if it dries up due to not playing the Div1 teams anymore.

Not up to date with it, to be honest. Under the new format, div 2 won't play the div 1 guys? If so, I don't see it as a major problem. It is usually fairly obvious who the better players from the div 2 sides are, and they don't necessarily showcase themselves better when they are in a team that is getting thumped by the div 1 teams. This is particularly true for forwards.

Stuart Donnelly surely has a chance to go top 20 with his tagging abilities. Donnellys ability to shut down the likes of Weller, Bourne, Cox and Eastman has him jumping up the order on the sacred day in November. Also i like the look of Brayden Figg to go in the rookie draft.
