Pardon the intrusion lads. But your midfield has been you major issue. As I see it for next year you midfield mix is like this.

Jones
Trengove
Grimes
McKenzie
Viney
Toumpas
Michie
Tyson
Vince (if a deal gets done)
Pick 9
Plus I'm sure another 1 or 2 may bob up.

That's not a bad improvement.
Daniel Cross as a delisted FA would cap it off.

Thing about Vince is that, now that we have Michie and Tyson, we can look to the wings again. Bernie would be valuable on a flank, perhaps more valuable than Cross at centre bounces.

Maybe so, but we don't have to give up anything for Cross. If it doesn't work out with him, he plays out the year with Casey and probably retires. On the other hand, we give up a decent draft pick for Vince and probably have to offer him 3 or 4 years at decent dollars to convince him to leave Adelaide, we'll be carrying that one for a while if it doesn't go well.

I'd prefer we pick up older players on the cheap or if we do trade in, young and talented players. Looks like we're about to run out of currency to trade with though so I'd be happy taking what we have to the draft. Good getting Michie and Tyson in, but it's always a worry when you bring in players who haven't played much due to injury issues... a new club won't suddenly fix that problem. Getting 20+ games a year out of a player every season (ie Kane Cornes) is important. We always talk about having a great forward line when everyone is fit, and will probably still be saying it for a few more seasons. If he's anything like his brother, I'd like us to get Zak Jones in for durability, attitude and hardness. Roos can hopefully teach / tweak the rest.

Looked like a star in his first year, only played 10 games but averaged nearly 16 touches a game and as you can see from that package, definitely wins them in contests.

Only played 3 games this year due to knee injury but worked back through the NEAFL league to grab a spot back

great trade imo, a guy who would be struggleing for best 22 next year with our mid depth an his season this year... going to the dees is his best chance of making it in the afl an showng the promise i think he has a win win :thumbsu:

Sorry to intrude!

Tyson is a solid player but has been extremely unlucky with injury.

He has some Luke Hodge traits in that he is blessed with very good foot skills and also quick hands and good vision.

He is not fast...in fact is probably on the slow side but he can find the ball and is very skillful. He is still a bit light and needs to strengthen up.

For us he was well down the pecking order of young mids but that's not to say he would not have rapidly improved with even luck with injury.

He will probably not peak until 2015 and beyond but will be a good player and is a solid citizen...future captain material.

I think the trade is win/win as we spread our elite talent age wise and you guys get a quality developed mid with upside.

Thing about Vince is that, now that we have Michie and Tyson, we can look to the wings again. Bernie would be valuable on a flank, perhaps more valuable than Cross at centre bounces.

Also, just thinking for a bit, if GWS are after Vince as well (as rumoured? I don't follow this stuff), then they might turn around and trade pick #20 to Adelaide for him if that's what the market value is perceived to be. Franklin's alleged pay packet would probably be equivalent to Shaw, Mumford and Vince.

Excites me to have a clearance player on board like Tyson, and only for a 7 pick downgrade + a second rounder. Aish and Kelly are too outside, and the rest aren't considered particularly outstanding aside from Boyd and Scharenberg.

Odds of Billings still being there at 9? Had heaps of pre-draft hype when he was 17.

Dom Sheed would be perfect, and he's 50/50.

Three Dom's would be something.
The Jack and Dom show!

First and foremost congrats on securing some very high end elite talent in Dom Tyson. People are quick to forget just how good he was as a junior. Ignore all these jealous types who are saying Aish/Kelly will be better because IMO Tyson will be. He just hasn't been able to showcase his best because of injury.

Getting Tyson, but also being able to stay inside the top 10 picks is a win for you guys.

Adding Tyson, Michie, pick 9 and most likely Vince is going to add som excellent midfield depth which will talk the pressure off Toumpas, Viney, Trengove and co.

Dom Tyson is a quality young player with massive potential to be an A-Grade midfielder. This is a huge signing by the Melbourne Football Club. Well done. :thumbsu:
After the 'massive' i was expecting a 'best in the business.' that's not you, Darce, is it?

Dyson, Toumpas, Viney, Trengove, Jones. Won’t happen overnight but that midfield will be formidable in a few years time.

Good trade, glad to have Tyson on board!

I didn't expect Pick 20 to be traded however Tyson+Pick 9 for Pick 2 was a clear loser for GWS. Moving up to early/mid 50s is a good steak knives bonus as well.

Cue Michael Voss: "You little beauty!"

Think this is probably a win win, we get something we need and maintain a pick inside top 10, GWS get pick 2.
Don't know much about Tyson but have 100% faith in those pulling the strings now and left field picks/trades are vintage Roos, most of which have returned huge dividends.
Also have a lot more confidence in our ability to develop these young guys with George Stone on board.
Pretty comfortable about how we are progressing the list so far with more to come.
Going about things in a quiet, deliberate fashion is totally new to me but I like it

Very happy with this. Very. Some pessimists might question his injuries, but he'll be fine. Furthermore he's a Victorian boy, which means there won't be any danger with him wanting to go home (which of course is one of the reasons we were able to land him). And most importantly, this kid can play!

Will also be very interested to see who we get with pick 9. Well done Dees, keep shaking it up. Now or never.

Tyson and the Toump will be out genuine A-graders in the next few years. Now hopefully Pick 9 can net us another A-grader and the engine room looks pretty good!!!

have you seen Kelly ? he will be an instant mid. Oh dont miss understand me, its a brave move by you guys, just with a little enhanced Risk.

Hope it works out for you blokes, I am being sincere in that!

I have seen Kelly - doesn't win the ball inside well enough, same with Aish.

We're big on Freeman, I think we're banking on him being there at #9.

Barring previous injury concerns with both Michie and Tyson, I'm actually very pleased with this trade. Retaining a top ten pick makes this deal worthwhile for me. There's still development of a talented youngster to come...
