List Mgmt. 2014 list discussion - drafts, free agents, trades, retirees, delistings and more

At least a couple of times this season he ummed and aahed about going again in 2014. Another one after that seems extremely unlikely.

And cross all your appendages about 2014.
Yeah he is no certainty to go again next year yet... i believe at the start of the year he said this would be his last... the way it all finished up may have changed his mind

Daz, any chance that there is still hope for Eardley. Seems strange not to give him another year. Maybe they delisted him with the plan to take him in the ND. So he is not counted as a rookie elevation and we can use a low pick on him. Then would only need to make 1 mandatory pick in the ND, with the other rookie elevation(s). Due to them looking at trading our big picks for Adams etc.

I would say that there is no chance of that happening. For all the accolades the Cats receive for their record in the draft, we've only got one player from the past three drafts who is a set-in-stone member of our best 22, heading into this offseason: Guthrie (from 2010). Smedts, Horlin-Smith, Schroder, Kersten, Murdoch, Bews, McCarthy, Hamling, Thurlow and Hartman look like they'll either be in and out of the team next year, or they'll be fighting to crack it for a game. It's time to make another big splash in the draft, I reckon.

The only thing that delisting Eardley does is give another team an opportunity to pick him up (which wouldn't have happened if he was still on our rookie list). He certainly wouldn't be promoted ahead of Blicavs. If he is still in the AFL next year, it's going to be at a different club.

I doubt he will make it... before this season he was expecting it to be his last I heard

I do hold out a bit of optimism in that Enright is a very quiet type, along the same lines as Scarlett (we haven't heard a peep out of Joel Corey either, incidentally). And when Scarlett was ready to retire, he made it pretty clear to everyone (though his form was also slipping, something which hasn't happened to Enright). Hopefully Enright plays it the same way, which would mean he's likely to go on in 2014 and would be a chance to keep going in 2015. Even if he does go on in 2015, he'd probably play his last game at 33 (he'd have turned 34 if Geelong makes the PF or GF). Not that old for a player of Enright's calibre. Going on his current form and with no real injury history to speak of, it's really up to him.

GWS withdrawn Buddy offer, Swans have thrown 1.4M a year for 5years at him.

How the f&*k do they have this much cap after throwing the kitchen sink at Tippett last year. Obviously trading Mumford out will clear some but geeeezus.

Presumably S. Reid will also be shown the door.

If Swans pull this off there will be nothing left of Sydney but rubble - and AFL house will be gone. Just plain gone.

The COLA will undo this league all together and send clubs not named Swans and GWS into apoplectic fits - myself included.

And BF is melting down apparently....

GO Catters

Good point - Sydney seem to have plenty of cash. I suspect here extra allowance for the extra cost of living in Sydney allows them to have some cash over for player payments. There should be a formula for this extra payment and it should be used by every club - that way it can be seen to be fair.

But maybe Jester is right - the loss of Mumford and Reid may give them the cash to help make a play for Buddy.

On that point - is Reid worth looking at ?

Now thats what i call List Management.....!!!
Lose Mummy, Reid, Matner and Bolton(1.3mil).... and Bring in Buddy(1.3mil)....
Congrats to them if they get it done...

Surely the midfield is on a nice packet too? make an offer to Kennedy!

Not so sure about that, they are sneaky ****ers. Dan H is only 22 so probably on a lowish contract - Brandon Jack still on the rookie list.

Buddy to the swans could change everything.... GWS will go hard after a few targets, Adams may stay.. massive implications..

Have to say Hawks fans would have every rights to dirty up, losing a player to an expansion team sucks enough but you cop it due to the extreme dollars.. but him going to the swans would be a massive slap in the face.. would be like Harry Taylor going to North for a little bit more..

It's another year at 1.4 + 4 years at 300k so that's 2.6 more or less. Plus the Swan's have probably offered him a gig with the academy post playing career.

Would love to be able to land Acres, Freeman, Cameron, Tsitas. Doubt it will pan out that way.
Interested to see what comes of Aaron Christensen from the combine.

As I said earlier the 10% should be paid out by the AFL on the Swans behalf and that way they can't pull shit like the tippet thing. Buddy is just smart management of the list - they have a lot of guys leaving and he wants to live in Sydney.

what shit is that?? have enough space in their cap to pay Tippett...650-800k??
I don't understand??
I wish we had enough cash to have lured somebody... considering Geelong is the cheapest place to live compared to all other Teams-Cities

Why ...??? if hawks can give him 1.1mil (how do they do it with their list???).... the swans just found 200k more a year.... nothing more... Losing Mumford... White... Bolton... Matner... covers that easily... let's all forget EddyEveryWhere's rant about cost of living... Facts are Facts... it costs more to live in Sydney... and In reality it's in the best interests of the AFL that the NON-FOOTBALL states have a little extra to keep players... Just look at the players all wanting to go home.... Pathetic as it is... It's reality... without $$$.. players will head home for the same cash...

Facts are also that Sydney don't have to use the extra money evenly across the entire playing group. I.e. they don't just pay each player 10% extra, or whatever figure it is, to allow for the extra cost of living. They can essentially do with the money what they like, or so I am told by the experts on the main board, which is a huuuuge advantage in terms of retaining and attracting elite players.

Barrett on Trade Radio saying just now he's heard Taylor Hunt is up for trade.. Great decision by the Cats, move him on while he still has value on the market.. He doesn't have much future at the Cats IMO.
