Toast 2014 National Draft, pick #31 - welcome to Hawthorn Daniel Howe

Howe's pretty low profile. He'd probably be chuffed to be recognised on the street.

Saw him a couple of weekends ago - he stuck out because that deer in the headlights look on his face is obviously not just a gameday thing haha. That or crossing the road was really daunting for him.

I think it could be genetic... :p:p:p

Was one of the best things that happened all night and was an indication of the desperation we played with. Cameron is known for being an explosive live wire and had already darted past 1 or 2 opponents. Cue Howe - probably the least likely guy you think would be able to catch him. But Howe busted a gut with that awkward looping running style and miraculously caught Cameron, and thanks to his efforts we were able to get a clean rebound out of the defensive 50. His tagging game may not have been eye-catching and he may not have racked up the stats, but Howe's role was arguably one of the most important to limiting Adelaide and he played it to near perfection. Some very smart disposal on display was the icing on the cake.

Like the 'smart disposal' comment... particularly since when he was drafted, he came second in the kicking test at the AFL combine.

Great effort and commitment but it wasn't a chase down. Howe woud never be able to catch him in a straight line. From what I saw Cameron was running past him (wasn't visible on screen) and Howe came from the side, lunged at him and managed to hold on.

Cameron had already ran past one or two of our players by the time Howe got him.

Would love him at the Hawks. Built like Cyril. Just a little ball of muscle.

Echoing my comments from the autopsy. Do those angry posters who were writing him off 6-8 weeks ago (remember reading he was the worst player to ever play for us?) want to come in here and admit they were unbelievably wrong?

He was terrific. Giving him an extended run as a tagger on the game's best players could prove the making of him. Who does he get next week - Kelly?

Scott Pendlebury - 21 D (11K, 10HB), 71.4% DE, 3 CL, 3 TKL, 1 1%er

Daniel Howe - 26 D (13K, 13HB), 88.5% DE, 8 CL, 8 TKL, 5 1%er

Stopping Sloane was one thing. Stopping Pendlebury AND getting his own is on another level.

As an admitted Howe 'doubter', I really hope he can build off these last 2 games and really grab these midfield minutes by the balls.
