By the end of the season, I think Kolodjashnij will actually win it. His stats on Footy Wire are better than Aish, Langdon and Dunstan thus far. Seems to really be flying under the radar at the moment.

Has Grundy been nominated/is eligible?

I read a lot of comments from collingwood supporters saying he was a lock.
TBH I think there is an arguments that even this year Grundy has been the most impressive of the eligible rising stars as a 19yo ruck, but he is not flavour of the month ATM and hasn't improved as much from last year, so will wait his turn before he plays a really good game IMO.

Are you joking? Grundy is pumped up more than any young ruck. Longer played far better against Carlton than anything Grundy has produced and you dont hear a thing.

Yeah, maybe because it was an isolated 1 good game and he is also older than Grundy. Neither has Longer been carrying the no. 1 ruck load for the last 8 weeks. Name the last young ruck to be performing at Grundy's level at his age?

The point is Grundy isnt doing anything that well. He is playing in the ruck as there is no one else his numbers arent anything of note.

The point is that you haven't been able to name one young ruck man who has been able to match anywhere near his output at the same age (or even his current ability level as it is understandable that young rucks may not get much opportunity). It is like comparing Dunstan to other average midfielders. His numbers are really very average for a good midfielder.

Maybe that's because no other clubs would use their young rucks as their #1 ruck. I hope Grundy doesn't get burnt out but look at what has happened to most young rucks who are played so much early on... Just take a look at NicNat lately (who by the way had better stats than Grundy at the same age)...

Naitanui was not noticeably better stats-wise in 2010 than Grundy has been this year, in fact he was probably slightly worse. However, your point is true about young rucks, but that is mainly because they haven't been as good. How many clubs have young rucks who are tearing up the state leagues on their main list?
Obviously we are hoping he is well managed.

His numbers are better than Luke Balls.

Most young rucks no matter how well they perform are forced into biding their time as second fiddle.

Less hit outs but better at everything else I'd take NicNats stats.

And no its not because they aren't as good its because they haven't been played as #1 rucks because clubs want to develop them over time and not burn them out plus most clubs usually have a mature ruck already performing well enough to let the younger ruck develop.

Grundy has more tackles, more hitouts, basically the same amount of goals, and about 1.5 less disposals (he had more in his first year as well). Hardly the massive discrepancy you made it out to be. Really very equal in fact.

So who are the ones dominating the state leagues?

In front of what?

Clearly getting a game isn't too difficult at St.kilda.
Would be playing VFL at most clubs.

Having your name on the magnet board as ruck at Collingwood wouldnt be hard. Lol Witts.

Gave up plenty for Adams and Kennedy perhaps give them a run over Blair and Ball.

Very comparable statistics actually, and that is when Ball has a sub-affected game in there. ANyway, the general consensus is that Ball hasn't been all that fantastic this year - wouldn't be in our top 4 midfielders ATM.

And the general consesus is that Dunstan has been huge this season.
