That was a twilight Sunday match wasn't it??
Yeah but it was also at a time when some people were going to AO just to check it out.

I've only ever one one thing in my life a Port Adelaide Mack Truck toy when I was a kid for entering a drawing contest in the Advertiser. I'm due right?

Bringing 3 crows supporting mates with me tonight, using my spare tickets. What's the bet their seat gets drawn.
Anyone I give a spare to understands they are not getting ANY prizes.

No hope. I can't get there OS but gave ticket to nieces friends, massive Cat supporters. They're a lay down misere.

We've had a worse first 10 rounds than last year but our average crowd is up. Your argument doesn't make much sense.
Why not? Makes perfect sense.

Last year we had a number of spectators that wouldn't normally go to the footy.

If we beat it this year it will might be because we are converting some of them into supporters and that would be a great result.

I'm honestly not even sure what point you're arguing.
If the "novelty" factor of a new stadium was such a huge factor how come we only pulled 34,000 (still our smallest AO crowd) to our first non-showdown game there?

Ah well, if you want to believe it didn't exist that is up to you.

Facts can't be denied. Our crowds are better this year than last year, despite winning less games in the first 10 rounds compared to 2014. To say a game between two teams who drew 47k last season in a shitty time slot won't top that number in a blockbuster time slot because the stadium novelty is wearing off is just bizarre.

I see the attendance has been adjusted again. Afltables has 40907 for the Bullies game while the figure that was put on the scoreboard was 41813.

In the only Friday night game we have had at AO so far, and that was also in the 7.20 timeslot, we drew 52505. And that was after the adjustment so it would be fair to say it would have been around 53000. Geelong will draw less fans than Carlton but I still think we'll just top the 50K.

Or you could just admit your logic doesn't hold up maybe?
Had to go.

Which logic is that, the first post I made or where it has gone to?

First point I made is that last year we got 47k and if we get close to that it will be a good result and if we beat it it will be a massive result as it will be the new Port V Geelong record outside of finals. Not sure what there is to debate here.

Where the debate got taken to is that last year we had a number of spectators that wouldn't normally go to games. Those spectators are made up of a number of different people, some that follow Port and wouldn't go to AAMI unless it was expected to be a good game, or wouldn't go if the weather was bad, or a bad timeslot or whatever. There were also some that didn't really follow Port but wanted to look at the new venue for whatever reason. None of it black and white.

If this year we are converting these spectators into members with season tickets then our averages will go up, and the number of spikes where we get close to 50k will also increase.

IIRC you too have posted in this thread that ticketed membership has gone up.

Perhaps finny should be the one explaining why he thinks that unless we get more than 47k it is to be considered a bad result.

Friday night, good weather, a decent amount of Cats fans in Adelaide, we're back in a bit of form, very important game in the context of the season. Is that good enough PIAF?
I've never said we should expect a shit crowd.
Closest I've come is to say that I don't consider 47k to be a bad crowd.
