When do we announce delistings? This week or next?
They usually wait until after trade week. That said, I'm surprised JPod hasn't made any official announcement about his retirement yet. Siggins is already gone, so I'm not sure if they need to mention him. The only other player I could see being delisted before trade week would be Brodie Martin.

Martin is the only remaining player who I feel 100% certain won't be on our list next year (other than Reilly, JPod and Siggins - obviously). I think the fates of the other uncontracted players will be determined by the outcome of trade week, and how many "live" selections the club wishes to use in the National Draft.

Put simply, Martin is a better player than Mackay.

Goes in harder, runs harder, tackles harder and I'd argue is just as good a kick.

Yet one will likely be delisted and the other still had 3 years on his contract...

I wonder what would have happened if Martin hadn't come down with illness a few weeks back.

He's not, and multiple coaches have reached the same conclusion.

Martin was always going to be delisted this year. Sickness or not, that was never going to change.

Agree Martin was always to be delisted this year.

He was selected in front of Mackay this year and last year however so to say he is definitely worse than Mackay is a stretch especially given their respective performances.

He may have been selected ahead of Mackay for the occasional one off game. But taken as a whole, Mackay has been very much preferred over Martin. By every coach the club has had in that period.

There is a reason why Mackay has a long contract (2 years too many for my liking) while Martin was only given a 12 month contract last year.

Mackay's time as an AFL footballer is coming to an end. Martin's should have ended last year, except for a weak draft.

If it were me i'd delist then rookie list Jpod. Wouldnt mind the insurance in case key forwards don't perform.

My three delistings would be Siggins, Jpod and Reilly.

I reckon Osborne's had enough time, I'd take him off the rookie list.

After that it would depend on what was available via draft and trade.

Jake Kelly and Reilly O'Brien can come on to the main list.

Anthony Wilson and Keenan Ramsey can stay on rookie list.

At this point there is only 1 main list spot and 3 rookie spots to fill.

Then it all depends on trades. Player for player swaps still only leave us with one spot on the main list. Player for a pick helps free up more spots. Pick for a player fills the one spot we've got. Perhaps players for picks and players and then good picks and player for a player.

Given our recruitment's teams ability I reckon the club will want them to have a bit more opportunity, so I reckon we'll make one or maybe at a stretch two more delistings. Who will it be? Martin, Shaw, Otten, Lyons, Grigg? You wouldn't think it would be any of the people new on the list such as Wigg or McGovern. Dear might be a chance to go, depending on what we think about his body. VB and Mackay? The latter has a contract to be paid out. Lowden, he's still got a year to go too.

This is where it gets pretty murky. We cut pretty hard last year and I believe it was our intent to cut pretty hard again this year, however I don't think they anticipated the team going as well as it has. Also, cutting makes it hard to maintain a more senior squad age profile which we've already recognised is on the low side of what's needed to be successful.

Will follow what we do this offseason with great curiosity.

Osborne isn't on the normal rookie list at present. He is a Category B rookie. I do believe this is the last year he can be on that list however.

I'm not sure it's 100% certain. We might see 3-4 depth players go leaving Wright and Dmac as the only hardened depth. Keeping Brodie for yet another year may be necessary. And let's not forget after getting his recall, he wasn't dropped, he went out with tonsillitis or something like that.

I think going on as a 27 year old having played as little as us he'll be moved along, best case he'll get rookie listed for depth.

I hope another club has interest in him and gives him a shot to see what he can do, he's never going to be a game winner or anything but I think he could play a role for a side.

Ummmm...... J Pod has retired.

Any idea when the delistings will be announced? It;s usually pretty quickly after ending the season. Thought they might have announced it by now
Adelaide have always announced their delistings immediately after the trade period ends.

That may change under the new management, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Jake Kelly and Reilly O'Brien can come on to the main list.
Not sure why all the love for Jake Kelly. He looked average when he came in, got rightly demoted then didn't even make it to the emergency list after that.
Not sure if he made the bests for the SANFL team either.

Would have to improve 2 or 3 levels to make it as an AFL player.
