2015 Division 1

Looking forward to a massive finals series in both seniors and reserves. If Heidelberg qualify a number of blokes for the reserves then good luck to them. Playing to their advantage. I still think Eltham would win as they have a full list to choose from as both teams will be playing on that weekend.

Greensborough probably favourites to win the flag in both grades which is a massive achievement if they can pull it off.

Must also add that WPL will have to do some serious recruiting to avoid the drop next year. How many losses in a row now?

Have to disagree there EBERT, The best win loss record in Div 2 is 12-4 &1. Whoever wins div 2 will be the least prepared to come up in ten years & in a world of hurt come April next year.

Still a summer to recruit players in between. Which i have said West Preston need to use to their advantage to avoid the drop. 9 losses in a row isn't a great advertisement for the club when trying to stay up.

You can look at it two ways, either there is no stand out team in Div 2 and whoever comes up will struggle next year, as you have seen it, or you could think that division 2 is an extremely even competition in which 4 or 5 teams all have the ability to win the flag and make an impact in division 1 in 2016.

In my opinion division 2 has come a long way this year and the top 5 teams would all challenge North and WPL

Any maths wizards that can state what could happen in certain games this weekend? My limited schooling on the probable, possible and probably impossible for ladder changes this weekend.

Greensborough win stay top.
Greensborough lose and Macleod lose, Greensborough stay top
Macleod win, Greensborough lose, Macleod go back to the top.
Eltham win, stay 3rd.
Eltham lose and Bundoora lose and the point differential is 22 points in Bundooras favour, Bundoora go to third.
Eltham lose, Bundoora win and the point differential is 22 points in Bundooras favour, Bundoora go third
Bundoora lose, Northcote Park win, Northcote Park take 4th.
Lower Plenty win, Northcote Park lose, and point differential is in Lower Plentys favour by 152, Lower Plenty take 5th, Northcote Park miss out.

Am I missing anything? Any Will Huntings out there?

And to top it off norf had a couple of blokes out there doing things to YOUNG blokes that is UNACCEPTABLE in all grades of footy behind and off the play but I suppose that's why norf are on the bottom in ALL 3 GRADES
Just ask u r nothing but a flog. Give me an example of what any North player did on Saturday at Heidelberg. I for one condone it having been on the receiving end of it a few years back & would not be part of a club where that sort of behaviour is accepted. The club is having a crack & our 1s have generally been very competitive most weeks & yes they play on the edge but what do you prefer a side to rollover & lay down. That is not the Norf way & never will be. Yes we go down to Div 2 but the aim is definitely to be back to Div 1.

eltham a game ahead of bundy, so if both lose eltham still stay 3rd

North would beat any1 currently in Div 2 by a minimum 10 goals Doggies actually not that bad, I think its the elevation in standard of Div 1. Said on this forum a while back having seen plenty of Eastern in recent years that Northern Div 1 has probably more depth & this after watching North every week. Doggies would beat Lilydale, East Ringwood, Sth Croydon (all bottom 3) for starters in EFL in a canter. Go back to round 9 & North playing at Eltham kicked 9 goals in Q3 in 20 mins what bottom team in a comp is capable of that.

One 1/4 does not make a season. I saw that 1/4 and was impressed, played awesomely and kicked 9.0, however had 4.3 kicked against them in that 1/4 and lost by 46 points with scoring shots of 34 to 18. Hardly a game to believe they are better than the rest of Div 2.

Sadly I feel the Doggies are not coming back anytime soon. Their 2nds have to have an average age above all other sides and their U19s, whilst valiant, at times started with less than 18 and finished games with 12. Without a decent junior program or some serious benefactors I cannot seen them in Div 1 for many years.

Love your passion Dubia Man but reality is reality, North Heidelberg will be at best a Div 2 side for many years. I do hope to see them back soon but see 4 or 5 years of rebuilding before that happens.

Spot on Denny. They should focus on building depth right through the ranks, not trying to find the quickest path back up. They would have been better served focussing on the above when they first went down and would have been in a far better position if they had formed an u/19's 3-4 years ago in div 2, where a thirds side would have fared much better.

Wont go into it but just cast your memory back to a game against Northcote Park where a player was suspended for misconduct then maybe ask a few around what happened Saturday off the ball....Not doubting North have a crack. I really like North its a shame they are being relegated but I jut don't like how certain players put a bad taste in peoples mouth when they are undisciplined and do certain things. I certainly hope they are back in Div 1 sooner than later.

Thanks Denny was talking about the quarter & not the game in general & do agree depth is a problem however things are happening in the off season that hopefully will lay a foundation for the future of the club. There will be no quick fix with paying dollars to get back to Div 1, fact is the current group play for next to nix however the list & 80% of these guys (Coaches words) have committed again in 2016. The top 10 of the current group have proven their capable of playing consistent footy in Div 1. The bottom 6 of the list has been the problem ie. depth however a few positives with the likes of Brown, Green, Gleeson, Buchanan with many of these boys introduced this year. I strongly believe the club list is in a better state than at start of season. Confident now more than six months ago the club will still be around in 10 years time & also not playing Div 3. Time will tell.

The Northcote Park incident earlier in the year was stupid no doubt & the player copped his right whack.
Regarding all three grades against the Bergers last weekend & I saw them from start to finish with no beer goggles saw nothing that u would class as unsavoury.

Having grown up nearby, and having mates play there (former and current) I like North and wish them well for a return to Div 1 but as articulated by Denny, I think it's going to be a long road ahead.
Last season I was told by 'Large' Brandt that they were going to affiliate with West Ivanhoe juniors.
Has this occurred yet? be a small but wise step in the right direction.

Critical action. If this can happen and a relationship like Research and Lower Plenty is established they are laughing.

I would suggest that some people from NH head to LP and see how they created the relationship and how it is sustained. Because I am sure LP have put a lot of time and effort to make sure it works and continues to.

Macleod Rosanna affiliating with Macleod Eagles juniors is another a shining example.
Went from a total whipping boy to a flag fancy in Div1 since they formed the allegiance.

Better late than never that affiliation only took them 20 years work it out & drop the Rosanna name & hey presto.

It wasn't as simple as that. When I was playing juniors at Macleod back in the 80's, Macleod-Rosanna actually had their own juniors too. The 2 clubs didn't contemplate a joint venture until the 90's and even today, both clubs are separate entities in their own right. Macleod implemented transition strategies and both clubs join in with each other's social program. It also helps that many of the players have had links with the Macleod and Rosanna Cricket club's. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Dekka had a lot to do with it

with the new points systems coming in every team will need to have juniors or an affiliation or the club will end up in div 3 and on struggle st .
hopefully this will help the under 19 level with teams as to quite a few teams in the nfl do not have teams or under's that are the whipping boys of the comp
By my way of thinking the senior club and junior (coaches,Players and commities ) will have to work very closely to ensure they are all working in the same long term direction to get success for all concerned junior club and senior club

It wasn't an overnight success, but the club is unrecognizable from the Mac-Rosanna train wreck getting belted by cricket scores every week.
The president in the mid-late 90s Zoran Colovic had a lot to do with the amalgamation. When you consider the bankrolls of the Northcote Park and Heidelberg dynasties, I think Macleod have done exceptionally well to be where they're now without high profile names on every line.... and it's no fluke either, its cashing in on its foresight from 20 years ago.
I'm a member of RCC and Dekka was around when Kane was playing there and even tried to talk a retired hack like me out of retirement...LMAO

Just taking the piss with my comment underbelly. Good success story though Macleod would be good for local footy if they win it in 2015.

Well done to all the top 5 teams. An absolute credit to the league when the top 3 are teams with big numbers of local home grown players. Points system not really needed in the NFL next year but will probably be for the best in the end.

Very surprised by Eltham, could be a legitiment flag chance after knocking off Macleod and greensborough recently. Don't see why they couldn't come out and knock of Macleod at Preston city oval this week after taking care of them at de Winton.

I wasn't aware BIG FOOTY was still active...!!! I See Deny and Brutal are still controlling the air waves (to some degree)
Better jump back on board if I'm truly gunna be EVERYWHERE...

Predictions;
GREENSBOROUGH over Eltham in the GF
LALOR over Fitzroy stars in the GF
SOUTH MORANG to beat reservoir in the GF.

Credit to mario and his coaching staff. Great to see the panthers in the mix.

Supa and co have been pivotal in this year for us. Having only really added about 4 players to our list from last year and losing our vice captain. It just goes to show how much coaching makes a difference. Going to be a very interesting finals series with many teams in form.
Looking forward to seeing bundy v northcote. Will northcote have all their VFL listed players seeing as their teams are in he finals also.
