I was watching Slobbo on 360 and he was saying Martin spraying water in the face of Spurr was not a 50. It is nothing serious but I still thought it would be a freekick/50 metre penalty.

I saw it as a pretty passionate response tbh. In the context of their season, that loss was massive
The amount of media attention this is getting is insane, and honestly might not've played any part in the outcome of the game. We were already setting up for goal, this just made it slightly easier.
They're managing to completely ignore Clancee's 50m for being injured
perfectly understandable that one, if you ask me.
Not saying it wasn't. Jack has form spitting the dummy at his teammates on the field in full view, the last close one we won by a point in 2013 comes to mind.
Yep. Mayne had an "easy" shot at goal. And the split second Martin did that with the water bottle right next to the umpire, I said to myself ... "that's 50". Wasn't surprised one bit that the umpire paid it, I was actually expecting the decision. I swear I have seen penalties paid before for that.

Yeah I've been sitting on it waiting to see if there's enough interest/debate to warrant a separate thread. And yes, poor media thread always getting so badly derailed
I was going to recommend people should just use the Goodes megathread on the main board but I'd feel bad seeing quality discussion from our posters being lost amid the quagmire. Also some people either can't participate in MB threads or simply prefer not to. I'm leaning towards creating one.
I think that's best for footy discussion, this is more of a societal issue. Ok, I'm going to create a standalone Goodes thread and move relevant posts there.
