Did anyone else that was watching on TV yesterday want to jump through the screen and rip Dwayne Russels throat out?

His bullshit condescending comments about "the new superstar" Lachie Weller every time the crowd cheered him was really annoying me.

It was a little condescending, but I think his point was that it's unusual for someone in their first game to receive such an ovation, when essentially they have not done a thing (yet) at AFL level.
The reception from the crowd, watching on TV, was akin to Benny boy making his return against the swans.

Don't get me wrong, I loved hearing the reception for Lachie, but it's not something you hear too often. Have many of our other debutantes gotten the same reaction? Genuine question.

Alex Pearce got a pretty big cheer for his first kick off Half back earlier this year, and Josh Simpson got a pretty good reaction in his first game too.

Agree, Weller, along with Alex Pearce forward, were enjoyable to watch and provided a nice focal point for the crowd.

Meh I'm no Dwayne fan but I don't think he actually meant anything untoward by it, just him talking a bit of shit like usual.

Not a Debutant but when Morabito came back against GWS last year the crowd went off akin to Lachies cheering, every possession too.

Geez I am sick of the Richmond could have won bullshit. Its on 360 again.Guess what you **ckwit morons in the media. Freo got the 4 points.Freo won away from home and on the MCG.How about highlighting that little bit of gold.
Haven't you heard? Richmond winning is great for the game. We should all wish them the best.

Would be good for all home game debutants to get a cheer like that. Great for culture and atmosphere long term if we get known for that I think.

Also... Moras return at home was far louder.

Pearce got a similar cheer.

Fairky boring game so it was an opportunity to cheer but also it's exciting to see what a new fast skilled player can bring. And through many games this year despite the winning record - some skill has been sadly lacking.

Anyone hear Ross on 6pr tonight?

Yes, he was very jovial. Didn't really say anything we don't already know. Laughed about how everyone is linked to Freo.

He was in good form wasn't he the legend RTB. Harley Bennell coming over would add some serious pace and skill. Good to hear Pearce will be given more opportunity forward. Ross described Pearce as a good long kick which is good to know. Then again he has been saying all year that Alex is 196cm as opposed to everything else the club puts out.

Hearing his optimism about Pearce as a forward makes me hope as Ross says that silvagni is good to go this week so we can keep Pearce up front.
