I think it will be quite likely that the R1 side is a subset of the NAB3 squad. NAB3 squad size is currently 27.

Not playing NAB3:
Hunter
Crameri
Hrovat
Z.Cordy (inj)
Smith (inj)
Libba (inj)
Biggs (inj)
Roberts (inj)
McLean
Webb
Hamilton
Prudden
Dale
Hrovat also got his ribs busted in the first NAB game, he should be fine for the first game but no reason to risk him in a NAB challenge. Crameri is ASADA

Hunter is the only really interesting one there. A lot had him as a shoo in for best 22, maybe the coach sees it differently?

Will be interesting to see if he plays in the VFL praccy match. Naming 27 players and not having him named, something doesn't add up to me.

Based on potential match up my current team is:

FF: Hunter (Dickson) Toyd Grant (Dickson for Hunter if still under cloud)
HF: Stringer Redpath Dal

C: Stevens Moyd Bonti
R: Minson Wallis Macrae

HB: Bob Talia Wood
FB: Morris Roughy Hamling

Bench: Picken, Darley, Jong (Sub: Dickson or Honey)

Exceptions: Crameri for Grant if Cleared, Hrovat for Jong if fit.

Explanations:

- Eagles have tended to go tall and catch us out. FL could have Kennedy, Lycett/Sinclair/McGovern and Natainui - so we should go with three talls and Morris killing a mid sized

- One wing is a tricky I think - Bonti is a shoe in but Stevens could be replaced by, Darley, JJ, Jong and maybe even bringing Wood further up the ground. I think Stevens has them just pipped (and has endurance) but then we may lack speed - legs and/or effective ball movement
- CHF is not owned by Redpath yet. I am really excited but Ayce and TC both making a good case. We need a contest here and a genuine threat to attract defence and I think Redpath is the best here. Can also go back to FB and give Roughie a run in the ruck
- Smith comes back when fit but should play some VFL first
- Goodes has to be on contention

Hunter is out round 1 regardless of the cloud, was late to training and will miss the two NAB games and round 1. So Dickson it is!

They have some injuries so I don't think this will be possible. Sinclair has a broken thumb and is out and due to the Mackenzie injury, McGovern will have to go back. Schofield is also in doubt for them so they will be very undermanned back there, with Naitanui to be playing mostly Ruck. This was their last expected Fwd line:

HF: Masten, Kennedy, Rosa (maybe Lamb)
F: Cripps, LeCras, Lycett

For once we have options to go tall against the Eagles and they go small

I think Roughy, Morris, Wood and Hamling (maybe Talia if we are worried about the resting ruck) would be the perfect talls mix against the Eagles round 1 as the latter 3 are all versatile enough to play tall or small and it won't hurt us if they Eagles have fast nippy fwds.

Moyd Roughead Morris
Hamling Talia Murphy
Macrae Wallis Grant
Dickson Redpath Dahlhaus
Cordy Toyd Stringer
Minson Bontempelli Jong
Picken Honeychurch Goodes Hrovat

Wood very stiff.

EDIT: That's what she said.

Would have all that played tonight taking out Daniel and one of Hamling or Talia. If fit Hrovat comes in for a very unlucky Honeychurch. We will be very tall but it will be nice to stretch the Eagles for a change.

Round 1 side locked in

Hamling Roughead Morris
Wood Talia Murphy
HRovat Wallis Boyd
Grant Redpath Dahl
Dickson Boyd Stringer
Minson Bont macrae
Picken Jong Daniel honeychurch
