Would be ridiculous for him to turn down $5M in the next two years if we could front load that heavily, but then again I imagine that when you're making more than $1M the difference between say $2M and $5M isn't actually that great if you're planning on living a certain lifestyle in Geelong and settling down with family.

True. What are houses worth in Geelong? You'd get change out of a $100 note wouldn't you?

Got a membership thing in the mail today. It asked me to tick a box with a players name next to it, in order to customize my membership card for next year. Only had a few options: Jones, Vince, Viney, Hogan, Dangerfield.

Who could give up 800k per annum seriously? In the scheme of the world and how old he is 500k isn't as much you you would think

I think most of us are taking the piss but I'm not sure about Gysberts2Bate?
He won't come to us, but it won't be because of our salary cap. Tbh though I don't see how important it can be for him to live in Geelong right now to start a family. He's still only 25 and is so involved in the media stuff. Living in the city would be perfect for him. Could go down as an MFC great.

500k?
Being conservative he is probably being offered 700k? But even that is meant to be over and above geelongs pay structure, and we are offering double that

If that is honestly the case, and we are offering him twice as much as Geelong, he is a fool for not taking it. Seriously. Stick it out for 5 years and he exits the game one of the richest players in the history of our competition. If we are seriously offering him that much $$, I'd be staggered if he didn't take it. And yes, I understand $700,000 is a lot of money(which is close to what he will be on at Geelong), but how could you knock back nearly a million more a year and play just down the road. Yes, Geelong is probably more likely to play finals than us at this minute, however, who knows how much we will progress in a couple more years, and with the likes of Dangerfield in our team, I would suggest we will progress quicker than most think.

Seems fairly ridiculous to me too, but if he comes to us for the money his reputation at the Crows will be tarnished. Not only would it diminish his 'going home' claims, but also mean the Crows lose out on a potential trade and only get the compo pick. Will be thought of in the same way as say a Mitch Clark circa 2011/12.

There's no way he's on a deal that big. Surely we didn't give a kid who hadn't played a game with a crook back that kind of deal?
Was as predictable a star as you'd ever see. I would have given him 10 year deal from the word go.

Nuts to Dangerfield. If the only thing that'll get a player here is an offer so ludicrous he can't turn it down, do not want. Having a mercenary on 20% of your salary cap is the kind of shit that destroys teams. We need good players but we they need to want to come here or we develop our own.

For the money we are offering Danger bitch could get a chopper, a pilot and put in a helli pad down at Moggs and still be better off.

I'd imagine the board members at Adelaide were in some serious discussions with the council at Moggs Creek about relocating the entire town.

20% for a year or two, and then it'll be <10% for the for after that. And that's not even accounting for increases to the TPP.

Regardless if PDF comes or not least we had a red hot go and showed that we will throw the sink at someone we think will add value to the list.

You never know next season we may target another star and we might get a YES as you already have a No ...what harm can it do.

To be honest I don't think that would even be overs .. I thik we would make that up with jumper sales alone.
