If he gets rid of Dawes, I can handle Melksham coming in. Definitely need a cap on the number of high price / profile duds we bring in from other clubs, and we're at my limit.
Underrated post.

Much too much fuss at trade time made about offers and caps etc, not nearly enough attention paid to the Cannon82 limit. Actually, if the limit extends to seeking a new home for Dawes and hiding Heretier somewhere where he doesn't attract attention, I fully endorse the Cannon82 limit as sensible recruitment and list management.

If it means getting Dangerfield Dawes and Howe can get ****ed for fourth round picks for all I care. We probably wouldn't even mind giving another club the money to pay Dawes' remaining contract year either.

Apparently Danger was a Demons fan as a kid. It would be massive for you guys if you could snare him
Just a local lad who wants to come home.

Heard a rumour over the weekend that Melksham to the Dees is as good as a done deal. The source was a guy who is friends with a bloke that employs Jakey part-time at his property development company. We'd both had quite a few beers at the time as well.

As far as reliability goes, its about as far away from a caravan builder as you could get but I thought it was worth sharing all the same.

I do enjoy this repeating of Geelong fans being ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SURE they're going to land the FA after they were the same last year.

I guess they do hold all the cards...
We did end up with egg on our faces last year

Difference is at least this year that Danger has specifically mentioned the Geelong footy club.

Also off topic of Danger.... why the **** are you guys throwing any money at Melksham... let alone 400k a year??

Why do you think we want Danger so bad? Cos then it's less likely that deals like the Melksham one happen

Came back to the board to talk about how ridiculous Geelong supporters were acting on the trading board over these rumours.

I see they have managed to do that for me.
Have you seen your own board's thread on the topic... :$

Let's be realistic here guys.

Everyone involved in this deal has talked only about Geelong. I certainly hope we have put an outrageous deal to Dangerfield, but we would have to be at best a 5% chance of actually pulling it off.

It's only been positive vibes from Adelaide and Geelong so far. Sure, Geelong will have to trade for him in the end you would think, but they will find a way to get a deal done - especially if we are waving around a blank chequebook and better draft picks.

Can you blame Cats fans for being upbeat about landing one of the game's best players? I would be too if I were them.

Surely we've all heard the classic "Star Player X was a Dees fan as a kid" line enough times to not believe it. It's just not a factor in these matters anyway.

I will hold out a sliver of hope until I see Dangerfield in a Geelong polo, but most likely we have a snowball's chance in hell of pulling off the coup of the century.

Yes it's mostly everyone talking about what a shittruck Dawes is.

Dangerfield isn't coming to the Dees, but if he does it won't be through a trade.

Difference is we are taking the piss, you flogs are jumping up and down like your panties are in a bunch and you've got sand in your vagina.
:D

BTW I was quoted into this thread from another board - so apologies for the tone.

On the contrary, I think we would need to dangle a massive carrot in front of Adelaide for them to want to deal with us over Geelong.

I'm talking first round pick (this year and next possibly), Howe/Watts/Garland/Toumpas, more draft picks, possibly work in Bennell in a 3-way with Gold Coast.

Agreed, we set that price when he walks into the PSD.
Not even. We only get him if he decides to save himself some stress and takes our FA offer over Geelong's. If he rejects us and Adelaide match Geelong's offer a trade will get done between Dangerfield and the Crows, for certain.

Garland is a FA, he walks to Adelaide for free if he wants.

If Dangerfield isn't willing to come to us as a free agent he's not going to choose us in a trade over Geelong. The only way it happens is if he accepts our FA offer in the first place and Adelaide don't match.
