So if we land Dangerfield will we have future draft restrictions? (aka Sydney after their Buddy deal).

I'm not sure I understand why Sydney were penalised as it was within the draft & Cap rules wasn't it? If so then where does it leave us, especially if we win another premiership in 2015.

Sydney can recruit who they want I believe. They would just need to be on/under the salary cap to do so.

Restrictions are in place if they remain "over" the cap.

If Aish wants to leave, surely we could offer Suckling and our first rounder to get the deal done.

Would solve our problems and Lions

Very good idea the Hawks need some more class for when our stars start retiring and that's probably the best deal Brisbane would get for Aish. It would also leave them the option of picking up another player in the PSD. Hawthorn are always good at getting deals like this done so my fingers are crossed...

They said at the time that the trade restriction is in place while they phase out the COLA. They also said that if the Swans wished to discontinue the COLA immediately, they would cease the trade restrictions immediately.

The fact that the swans management is continuing to act confused is a testament to the fact that they fully intended to rort the system

Forgive the intrusion, but should Bolton be named Blues coach shortly as rumours say - are there any players who may be favourites of his and/or on the outer of the best 22 who he may take across to Ikon Park with him for more opportunity?

What's happening with WhiteX these days? Isn't he injury free and can't get a crack? Great bloke and handy player. Is he a restricted free agent?

Why's everyone sweating Aish so hard?
We need a BEAST to hit the packs and get his own ball...
He's wanting to be traded to a Vic club. It goes without saying that as soon as a player requests a trade, BF posters are desperate to get them to their club.
He is talented though and if we can arrange a trade with the Lions, then it's worth the discussion.

Fair enough. Just on Bolton - I can understand you wanting to keep him til end of season but can't see how he'd be able to focus on Hawks finals considering the massive job he'd have ahead. With so many calls to make before our off-season even begins, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he requests immediate leave to start early (post R23 - our end of season) should he get the nod.

That's for the clubs to sort out. What will be, will be.

You've got an absolute ripper BB, he is an outstanding tactician and student of the game, not only that he is tough as nails and has been said he gives sprays as good as Clarko has. He is a respectful bloke, he won't be poaching a single player so get that out of your head, be greatful your rabble of a joint is lucky enoigh to get someone like Bolton.

Well, Beveridge only took Jorden Kelly last year.

Don't think Hardwick took anyone to tigers.

Cameron didnt take anyone to GWS

Simmo took Ellis to WCE.

Not a good form line to suggest BB will take anyone, but on the back of a successful era (dare I say three-peat), Carlton would be better off with guys like Whitecross. Suspect Grimley may get a run

Don't know if there's any truth to it whatsoever, but I just came across this post in the Carlisle thread on the essendon board.

Hawks will offer first round pick from this year and future 1st round next draft as well. We will take it.

Thoughts?

If true, then you can only surmise that someone at our club has the inside word on the extent of the player sanctions/suspensions coming....If not, then it's a huge gamble & one you wouldn't normally associate with our current administration otherwise.

As for the move itself assuming no infractions?....DO IT!

Apparently there's a belief within the industry that any bans will be heavily backdated. There's been a suggestion that a guilty verdict backdated could mean that the players may only miss a few to no games, instead of the two years we all want :D

I'd love Carlisle at the Hawks.

Spot on they can elect to go through the process of phasing out the COLA or they can fast track the process of declining COLA and competing on a level playing field we all call a salary cap.

You have to take into account our 1st Round picks are effectively early 2nd Round Picks... You can't just expect 1 pick 18 or 19 to get a deal like that done.
who knows what next years first round pick could be too though?
Carlisle wouldnt be worth two pick 18s anyway. You can get some absolute gems with picks 16, 17 or 18.
For example, he isn't worth 2 Luke Dunstans.

Essendon are hard to deal with, Carlisle is not worth what we would have to give up.

Carlisle would be worth a lot but would be a super addition to the team. Integrate him just as Lake and Gibson are on their last legs.

Carlisle, Frawley, Stratts, Doc, Birchall would be the bones of an elite defence for the next 4-5 years.

Always risk in future picks but Essendon would be desperate to get into the early rounds of the draft so we might have some leverage in terms of minor swaps and the like. With some minor adjustments, I'd be quite chuffed if we landed Carlisle.
