Lot of Swifty about Banfield.

Nope completely different size necks.

Banfield doesn't look anything like an Alpaca.

Eastern Rangers please refrain from any further comments referring to the similarities between an Ex Scotch and Christ Church boy , as thats the sort of talk that causes bedlam in the Western Suburbs, tribal warfare at its nastiest.

I didn't go to high school in Perth but are they the fiercest rivals in footy?

getgaff I would be interested to hear what do you see in Scharenberg ?

As I seem him as a smart player with a good footy IQ ..... however IMO he has two serious and concerning knocks on him.
1. He is slow.
2. His disposal is very , very sloppy.

Given the never ending debate on a certain midfielder in our side, with said debate going on for the last 5 years and not looking like abating.
I don't want another similar player.

I would rather Quinton Narkle with a rookie pick than Scharenberg, I certainly would not be pleased if we spent a second rounder on Scharenberg.

Just my two cents worth.

I've always rated Scharenberg's inside midfield work pretty highly because of those footy smarts that he has and seems like a player that could slot into an AFL system with ease.

Your right on his lack of leg speed which is a real issue with our current crop of midfielders, when you add Mitchell into the mix now as well it does add another midfielder without leg speed but I think post Priddis and Mitchell having that ready made option of a player that can win the ball in big numbers and has a real hunger for the contest will be beneficial.

I'll be honest I don't know a whole lot about Narkle so can't comment to much on him but I'll back your judgement in with him.

Any one else rate Florent. I liked what I saw of him in the all star game. Not really a contested mid but found plenty of his own ball but he could be the next dynamic inside mid we are crying for.

Like his work yeh. Part of that Sandy team that ended up winning the TAC Cup and played as a half forward/ mid. Looks to have added a few kg's of size over the season which is good also.

Think North would draft him if he was available at there first rounder however

No

Everybody hates aquinas

For the most part scotch and Christchurch are western suburbs rich boys that are more likely to get their parents to sue each other than have a proper sporting contest

NB : I went to one of those two schools

Well if it wasn't Scotch then Keyser Soze I would be most disappointed .

No not on any sporting field... unless you count pussy hunting as a sport.... works for me :p

More the fact that the two lots of student, were more often than not, neighbours in the Metro Area and both competed for the hearts ( polite, politically correct anatomical reference there ) of the MLC and PLC girls.

Who ever said romance was not a blood sport ...... missed the point of anatomy .

Lets just say Christ Church Boys were always better at Maths.

So none of are very competitive in school Sports. Opposite of what happens in Adelaide I guess.

You missed the bit where it said we all hate AQUINAS....spits on ground as I type the letters.

Competitive against the "Rosary Beads" you better believe we were.

But once school football was behind us the Protestants from Hale, Scotch and Christ Church all went down to Collegians and enjoyed a beer or five with each other and played football against Trinity AQUINAS Amateur Football Club.

On a side not The Q Stick was the Trinity AQUINAS Coach this year.
They experienced their first ever flag in 2016.
I am sure the Q Stick would have commented " every kids F******* dream " as he did after the 2006 AFL Premiership.

Why do we hate Aquinas?

What about Guildford and Wesley?

Other schools hate aquinas for the same reason freo fans hate west coast. Envy is a dangerous thing :D
Or they were just a bunch of tossers .... actually I don't even know why I disliked Aquinas...well, going to Trinity Probs had a bit to do with it...don't even know anyone personally from there. Such stupid PSA chips on shoulders.

He kicked 41 goals in the WAFL as a 20 year old. McInnes struggles to crack 20.

Last two seasons Eagles have been developing McInness as a ruck forward and last year as a CHB I Recall due to all the KP back injuries.

Hansen always played forward and was not flexible enough to play elsewhere. Hence his role was to kick goals.

So that arguement is pretty weak.

How good was Hansen in his first three seasons?

Was Hansen fighting a multiple Colman medalist or Jack Darling for a spot in the side?

It took him years to get his body right and actually impact a game / play his role.

Luckily the club game him the chance to develop and come good. If it was up to "experts" such as yourself and others on here we would have dumped him before he even played a game. He took 2.5 years to debut.

"Recruited from Northvale/Oakleigh Chargers, he made his debut in round 11, 2004, against Collingwood, after being picked with selection 38 in the 2001 AFL Draft.[3] Hansen was named the Eagles' rookie of the year for 2005.[4]"

I wounder how McInness would look if he had Judd, Kerr, Cousins and Cox and co kicking the ball to him?
Hansen was actually pretty good in his first two seasons, was Swan Districts leading goal kicker his first two years and then made the eagles team for a few games the year after that.
And next year will be McInnes' 6th year of football since being drafted, so I whilst I agree that talls take a longer time to develop, I think it's fair to say that he should have shown a bit more by now. Sorry but he's just not that good.

I love your defense of McIness mate and I myself was guilty of being a Mitch Brown advocate for a couple of years however I think we as a supporter base and then as a club should change our mindset from the unwavering support of hinest tryers to undeniable talent, this also means the phasing out of such other players as Hutchings whom I also advocate for however is a ways ahead of McIness insofar as he has no other suitors for his tagging role (outside of Nelson)...

We need to lower our sentiment towards the underdog and fill our list with competitive yet above competent players..

We have persisted with these types for too long and success demands change, I think we are seeing this change from the club at present.

Sorry to butt in - but interested where you guys rank Brad Scheer (as you are talking Scharenberg).
Most have written Scheer off to the Suns - but not sure that is necessarily the case. He falls outside the 4 top 10 picks we have and its said we will go into points deficit to recruit him assuming a bid in second round.
A round one bid though might actually get him ?
