List Mgmt. 2016 AFL Draft

If Kennedy or JD went down no draftee will fix that, they are too young. Vardy and McInness are insurance for 2017 injuries followed by Lamb.

People on here under rate McInness and his value IMO. I rate him similar to Hansen back in the 2000 > 2006 era, he's no star but pretty solid. The reason why McInness hasn't "come on" is because we have been blessed with Kennedy and Darling and few injuries. When Jack was injured for the first 8 rounds in 2015 McInness came in and offered good support for his age.

Lamb yes has shown little but if he got an opportunity it would be very interesting to see what he could provide.

Allen is the definition of project KP forward.

Somewhat agree with you on your first para. If JK goes down, we're rooted I think. JD I think we could possibly cover (obviously not expecting 40+ goals) but we have a few on our list that could possibly fill his role (Lamb and I think even Yeo is an option, Vardy to FF with JK playing more as a HF...We certainly have some options that you could see working).

Have to disagree on McInnes though so I think Vardy is our only real replacement for Kennedy, and why I'm seeing him as a very astute trade, and hoping for good luck on the injury front. Again, I won't be expecting 80 goals from him but he allows us to hold our structure at the very least. We certainly lose mobility up forward though.

McInnes may not have had the opportunities at AFL level due to our good fortune but he has hardly shown much, if anything, even at WAFL to suggest he is going to be able to come in and make a fist of it against the best defenders in the country. As a ruck....ugh. I don't see the Hansen comparison, sorry. Apart from their turning circle, as Godfather said. Hansen had pretty good hands, wasn't a bad kick for goals and worked tirelessly up and down the wings. I haven't seen much of that from McInnes. You have to love his size but I was disappointed in the way he used that size at the contests. Was largely a non factor in most contests.

Hansen was 100 times the player McInnes is, unless you're comparing their turning circle in which case a house would beat out Ash.

Hansen had 100 time more opportunity than McInness.

How good was Hansen in his first 4 years?

Hansen was no champion, he was a big, honest CHF who presented a target, kicked a couple of goals and brought the ball to ground. That's it.

Hansen lacked the ability to pinch hit in the ruck.

As does McInnes.

He kicked 41 goals in the WAFL as a 20 year old. McInnes struggles to crack 20.

Just reading through some of the phantoms on the draft board, and many of them have us taking Marshall. Hope this doesn't eventuate, as I'm not convinced he's the best talent at #12

Totally agree Shmidd. It can be spun any way you like but Todd Marshall doesn't fit our early draft needs/ list profile right now unless we can turn him into a ruckman. Best outcome for Marshall I think is late first round to Port, can't see the Bombers passing him in the early 20s otherwise. Would hate to see us "waste" an early pick when a lot of good talent will still be on the board.

After his combine results and looking more into him as a player I'm getting really keen for Jarrod Berry to land at that 12 - 15 mark pick (pending Academy bids) which is the about right for him right now.

Where did I say Hansen was a champion? All I said was that he was 100 times the player that McInnes is, which is more to do with how crap McInnes is than how good Hansen was

Looks like I'm out on my own because it looks like Marshall has a lot to offer to me....Good hands, nice leading patterns and early reading of play. Reasonable ground level touch for a tall. (all taken from internet vids mind you)

Not sure if I want us to pick him up with our first as I'm still hoping Taranto will slide somehow. (I also believe in the Tooth Fairy)

Premiership player (Hansen) >>>>>>>>>>>>> Non-Premiership player (McInnes).
End argument

If really need another tall, we might as well get Brennan Cox. Apparently he did well as a forward late in the championships. Marshall does look the goods buy does have some question marks. Get mids this draft and try and trade for a few early picks next draft. Also Hogan will be out of contract when jk is just about to retire so we could make a big pitch to him then.

Berry and Scharenberg first and second round or sack Vozzo. Simples!!!

getgaff I would be interested to hear what do you see in Scharenberg ?

As I seem him as a smart player with a good footy IQ ..... however IMO he has two serious and concerning knocks on him.
1. He is slow.
2. His disposal is very , very sloppy.

Given the never ending debate on a certain midfielder in our side, with said debate going on for the last 5 years and not looking like abating.
I don't want another similar player.

I would rather Quinton Narkle with a rookie pick than Scharenberg, I certainly would not be pleased if we spent a second rounder on Scharenberg.

Just my two cents worth.

Agree that Berry would be a worthy pick up at # 12. There is a lot to like about him.

He also ticks a lot of the boxes that WC have historically had an attraction to .

1. AFL Academy kid.
2. Played at a high level in the Championship in 2015 as a bottom ager.
3. Has leadership qualities.
4. Has good athletic traits and some that are elite.
5. Vic Country so a greatly reduced go home factor.
6. High off field character traits.
7. Footy smarts.

Would rather Kim LeBois he is quicker and has good defensive work effort

He is a very good player RE , talk about a slippery customer WOW he has some serious foot speed plus the ability to wiggle his way trough heavy traffic is quite a feature of his game and a lovely left foot on him.
Cant say I have ever seem him use his right foot.
Knows where the goals are and is an accurate kick at goals both on the run or a set shot. A bit of the Tip Rat about the way he roves the packs.
He is more than a crumbing forward as he ability to lead up and take a safe mark are also a feature of his game.

How good was Hansen in his first three seasons?

Was Hansen fighting a multiple Colman medalist or Jack Darling for a spot in the side?

It took him years to get his body right and actually impact a game / play his role.

Luckily the club game him the chance to develop and come good. If it was up to "experts" such as yourself and others on here we would have dumped him before he even played a game. He took 2.5 years to debut.

"Recruited from Northvale/Oakleigh Chargers, he made his debut in round 11, 2004, against Collingwood, after being picked with selection 38 in the 2001 AFL Draft.[3] Hansen was named the Eagles' rookie of the year for 2005.[4]"

I wounder how McInness would look if he had Judd, Kerr, Cousins and Cox and co kicking the ball to him?

Im not clear on the cat B rookie rules. But, if bayok only wanted to come to west coast, is it possible that he can just pass on the national and rookie drafts and we pick him up as a cat B afterwards?

Incorrect. He's done it. Hansen hever did his body was too fragile.
So has McGovern. And he, like McInnes, was shit at it. The fact that they've been tried in a position hardly stamps them as a flexible forward or ruck option. You actually have to show some aptitude for it. I guess Hansen never had to do it, because Lynch could pinch hit. Just like JK has never had to pinch hit in the ruck for us. Thank f***.

For all his tactical paddock bullshit, Pagan screwed around with JK at the Blues, trying to make him a ruck/fwd when he clearly wasn't. Does that make JK a lesser player?
