by "ready to go" i mean that he is physically ready to play AFL footy without being pushed out of contests too easily.A young kid who needs another preseason to develop the body so he
can compete with men better, but already has the skills/decision making....you can say 'ready to go next season (ie Menadue).
A player like Townsend who has been bullocking his way in packs with men already for a few seasons, hacking the ball forward and generally running to wrong places on the field, I'm not sure where your confidence for suddenly 'ready to go' comes from.
But he's playing for 12 more months at least and Jackson/Tuck made me finally concede they had a role, so I'll watch with interest and hope he has a preseason where all his football 'dumbness' disappears.
i am one of those "no KPF's this yr". KPD i am happy with.Just my uninformed opinion, but from next weeks draft if we can land the following I'll be happy.
27. Dylan Clarke 186cm 84kg Inside Midfielder
56. Elliot Himmelberg 18 year old 196cm 84kg KPD
78. Mitch McCarthy 19 year old 196cm 87kg KPF
Not the most exciting draft from a fans perspective but one that I believe would hold us in good stead list wise.

Now I know some will say why bother getting KPPs this year when next year is the draft for that. However, in my uninformed opinion there is some value to be had in the KPP ranks especially with a strong midfield pool there is a chance some of the good talls slide down as others look to stock up on mids. Further to that we currently have 4 KPF, 3 KPD and 4 rucks which is less than ideal. Adding a KPF & KPD gives us that extra bit of cover just in case injury hits, which given it's us it will happen.
Finally, based on what Balme was saying about the coaching restructure it would appear that the plan is that both sides will play the same structure and the players will be given the same roles in both sides so that when they come into the senior side they know what is expected. Over the last few years the structures in the 2 sides has been different, with a draft that delivers something along the lines of what I've suggested we could start playing the same structure in both sides which allows players coming up from the VFL to know exactly what is expected from them.
Nathan'sIs there absolutely any chance that SPP falls to 27?
OK...lets revisit in Oct 17 and we'll see how his stats stack up. I'm got several sets of fingers crossed. Tucky had a few more strings to his bow.by "ready to go" i mean that he is physically ready to play AFL footy without being pushed out of contests too easily.
i agree with the rest but would play him on a wet day to add some grunt as Tuck did. wet weather will suit him.
Actually we have 36 players signed up, and we can take 4 live from the draft players to make it forty or 3 and have 39 players. Short is in that 36 player list.it's 5 = 3 snr list & 2 rookie spots

if we take 3 more senior players we only have room for one rookie. 4 spots. How can we not use them all? You have to have 44 players on your list. If you're going by the RFC website, they haven't added Nankervis on the senior list. 4 spots.it's 5 = 3 snr list & 2 rookie spots

Yep missed that, thanks.Actually we have 37. Nankervis hasn't been added to the RFC site yet. 4 spots total.
There needs to be a hybrid category or at least place players in both areas.Based on your chart I would say our greatest need is outside mids, we may have a few but none are quality,
Menadue is developing, Macintosh is average but can run and us similar to Grigg and Ellis, the otters are grinders.
Cotchin I would place as outside and edwards as a small forward.

Yep see above. That's means 3 live picks on draft day for 40 or 2 live picks for 39 and 1 extra rookie.
yep, i see where i mucked it up. i had 5 thinking it's 2 rookies if we go 3 picks in the Draft. my badYep see above. That's means 3 live picks on draft day for 40 or 2 live picks for 39 and 1 extra rookie.
we have 3 snr spots left which would take us to 40 & currently have 4 rookies.Hey guys, sorry for the intrusion. I was wondering how many selections you guys have to make on Friday night, based on list spots, etc. I'm doing a phantom draft and need this info.
For example North has to make 4 selections because we have 4 primary list spots open. Appreciate the help!

We just recruited Prestia and Caddy, inside mid isn't the top need right now.Interesting read from draft guru Emma Quayle

fwiw has Drew at 27 who would fit needs for an inside mid
have to agree to disagree there Juss, inside mids still a major priority imo.We just recruited Prestia and Caddy, inside mid isn't the top need right now.
When guys like Martin Cotchin Caddy and Prestia are resting forwards they play as outside types. When they are on the ball I'd have them as the inside ball winners feeding it out to the runners mentioned. There needs to be a hybrid category or at least place players in both areas.
