SPS was a little disappointing today. Seemed to be playing well within himself it seemed. Barely kicked further than 30m all day. Not sure if he's carrying an injury or if just pacing himself to see out the season and hit the draft camp in reasonable shape. He showed patches of his class though.

Goddard is rookie list material for me.

Banfield, Guelfi, Waterman, Oakley and SPS are all a class above this level and I liked Tom Lawrences game also.

For the Demons, Ninyette is their best and Kickett, Scotney, Leonard and Levien were ok too.

salim malik for your info about SPS from someone at the game.

**** the eagles. So they get to pick there cat b up. And the afl are actively promoting indiginous youth to stay in there communities when they could be getting a better education in the small chance they can be cat b. Rookies. Well thought out afl. You are clever campaigners

So progressive of the afl. Really trying to make a difference aren't they

AFL seem to love screwing us over...
Yes clearly nothing can be allowed to threaten the next 10 years of GWS premierships.
Getting really tired but how contrived the rules are becoming to favour expansion clubs and basically anyone but clubs like us that are strong financially because of our big supporter base but don't exist in either Melbourne or somewhere the AFL is trying to market to.

You all realize that these players didn't actually meet the criteria for nomination in the first place, right?

Bit of a stretch to say the AFL has it out for us when we aren't even willing to select these players in the draft or as a regular rookie selection.

So that's another key forward possibly delisted that we threw a bit of cash/trade at. That's Clark, Cloke, Schulz (if you want to add him).. These players are dumber then they seem. Aaron Black stayed 'loyal' for North Melbourne, he's a high chance at being cut in their rebuild

The rules were designed to give an advantage for some clubs, but the Kimberley situation has not been considered. The two players that were nominated grew up in the Kimberely but left for the purposes of getting an education, because of the isolated nature of that region. There is no competition strong enough in that region either. The AFL have set their criteria for indigenous kids in Victoria or Tasmania, or South West WA, but have made any academy in The Kimberley a waste of time and money.
I don't think it's deliberate, but the effect is the same.

I agree it's a bit of a joke. It's like they expect us to literally pick a kid out of complete obscurity.

They may as well have given us access to players from all the oceans of the world, but if they stepped foot on land they're deemed ineligible.

The criteria needs revising. If time in this region exceeds say 90% of their time on this planet then in my view they're from that region.

So when the actual next gen academy starts (not cat b crap) cant we get all the good talent to come down to perth from gero and kimberly and play for peel? And then hope the afl academy keeps there grubby hands off em or would they still be eligible like the other academies?

If we invest enough in talent identification, couldn't we be getting hold of the Liam Ryan's and Cedric Cox's before they hit WAFL therefore when they come down they are already a part of our academy. Surely they don't need to stay up there to play and just need to be "identified" before they are WAFL players.

Hopefully that's how it works in the future
