Oh well, if nothing else we can say, look - we don't get all the good academy players. The academy benefits everyone - and they're not just scraps, some of these kids are class and we're not hogging them.

Maybe it was tactical to get some academy players out there in the general marketplace

I wonder what this draft does to the howling from south of the border. Yes, we still got three in the top 25 at a discount. But we then took another with a live pick in the 50s, leaving up to 5 nominated players to go elsewhere.

That and the argument earlier on the year being centred around Setterfield/Perryman/Mutch/Macreadie/Sproule going top 25 and how unfair it was, and the latter three didn't really come close in the end.

Boys are back in town with Phil Lynott Perryman!

Knightmare's top 30 had Setterfield 3rd, Tarrantula 4th and Phil Perryman 7th, Tizani 21st. Mutch 18th.

Ainsworth 5th, Bowes 6th, Brodie 8th and Scrimshaw 14th.

Thanks for coming other clubs. Don't know why you bothered.

Have to say, not picking up McCreadie is the one call I am scratching my head over. Maybe there is an attitude problem there or something like that. The coaching staff must have had an input having seen a lot of him up close. Happy with the first four selections.
Was thinking the same exact thing. When talent doesn't translate that's usually the case.

Can anyone explain why we burned a pick on deBoer when we could have got him for nothing as a DFA?
There was no difference. In both cases in used our last list spot and hence the pick.

That was a roller coaster of emotions for me in the draft.

Started off with disappointment in missing McGrath.

Then euphoria with landing setterfield, perryman and cumming

Mild disappointment to extreme disappointment with missing mutch and macreadie

Happiness with taking tiziani

Then the 5 stages of grief with De Boer. I still haven't reached acceptance

Just watched Mcgrath, McCarryon and Tarantula highlights have to say McGrath is a clear number 1. He's Heath Shaw but smarter and faster without the anger management issues. No issue with Tarantula over McCarryon if he's happy to be here. Wasn't anything between them.
