Sydney said that Papley was injured? Or is it like... an 'injury' ;)

He and Teddy were fitness tested after the training session Wednesday night. Just don't know the outcome yet.

Look at what we did to a GWS comp that 90% of the competition are wetting their pants over. Dismissed them without a second thought.

That game was closer than the final score suggested, Buddy was the difference that day IMO and Cameron didn't play.

Really? Early on we missed chances that kept it close and we then kept them at arms length for most of the match.

I thought it was the exact opposite...we should have won by significantly more. I went into detail in a post RE this on the 'things you learnt against GWS' thread but I can't be arsed finding it!

That's true, but there were definitely periods where it looked like they would take the lead. We only had 5 more scoring shots than them for the match.

Anyway getting back to this week's game, as I said I believe we will win, but North do have the team that can trouble us.

For the love of God Swannies, I'm begging you...please...PLEASE thump North. Don't beat them. Thump them. Some of the North fans on the main board have become unbearable. If we lose I'm going to delete my Bigfooty account. But if we win don't just sneak it in...smash them by ten goals. The North fans need a big old hypodermic shot of reality.

Suggesting we have an advantage over their forward line seems a tad delusional, they are a big part of the reason North are undefeated and our defence is currently our most undermanned line.

I would suggest though that our forward-line is far better than their backs. Our back-line is also far more miserly than their back-line. Our mids get back and defend far better than theirs do. Other than Ziebel their mids tend to be front runners and attacking mids. Swallow sometimes gets backbut players like Wells & Cunnington are not natural defensive players.

the good oil is Harry Marsh to play his first game :)

That's strange there is no article on the Swans site introducing Marsh. When a new player is being touted to play their first game there is generally an article introducing him to the fans on the wednesday night. That is how we generally know who is coming in if they are new.

If it proves to be true, the logic behind may be they're backing Laidler to play tall and Marsh takes Laidler's spot on mediums/smalls.
Possibly but Laidler is 190cm while Petrie is 197 and Brown is 200. He hasn't got the height to go with them. That leaves Waite at 194 but he's in hot form and I don't know if Laidler has the athleticism to go with him. I suppose as long as he contests and can punch or bring it to ground then if we have our smaller defenders run it out that would work. If we can stop them taking marks in their 50 then I think we can really hurt them on the rebound.

Ted has looked like he may be done for some time now and all and sundrie see hin as the weakest link in the back 6 but while this bloke is playing I would rather Richards any day. Tries pretty hard and takes the odd intercept mark but apart from having a lengthy left foot is a terrible decision maker and ocassionally needs clean underwear. I know others see him differently but he is an error merchant.

Teddy & Laidler are both good defenders. Let's be real here, neither are gonna be AA contenders, but they aren't colossal disasters. We've had absolute s*** luck with injuries down back this year. No Talia, no Reid, no Teddy for the majority. It's put pressure on Grundy to perform even better, it's put pressure on Rampe to take more one-on-ones when he was looking set to be more of a rebounding defender, and it's put pressure on Laidler to become our intercept marking guy.

Considering how badly all of the above could have gone, our back line has just been ridiculously good.
