Are my eyes deceiving me or am I seeing Hawthorn supporters suggesting we trade James Sicily after the year he's just had?

Great idea guys! Let's trade him for a 1st rounder, maybe we'll get lucky & develop a young athletic tall forward with attitude who kicks clutch goals! :drunk:

It's true that the Big Boy could play better than he has been lately. I suspect he's been carrying injury for a lot of this season. We haven't had Ceglar as third ruck to chop out, so McEvoy has had to play. The bye will have benefited no-one more than him.

Q: Besides Ben McEvoy, what other premiership ruckmen are there in the league right now?

Jordan Lewis.....3rd man up

Don't worry...people are ****ing idiots

If JOM does in fact get to Essendon, who cares? he'll take half a season to get ready to play, play a couple of games in the 2nds, then get re-injured in the firsts....another 12 month lay off. He'll never reach his full potential, and in years to come, JOM will be known as a flop!

However....

If JOM does in fact get to the Hawks, he will complete a full preseason this summer, debut in round 1, play better then what his full potential was going to be, become an elite midfielder rivalling Dangerfield and Fyfe, be a favorite for the 2017 brownlow, and help the Hawks win 5 cups in a row!

Eeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssyyyyyyyy

I heard a rumour from someone employed at another Victorian club a few weeks back that the AFL is permitting Essendon to exceed the salary cap next year as a means of mitigating the AFL and Essendon's potential compensation payouts to the banned players (and doing it in a more PR friendly way). I didn't pay it much thought and still think it is probably crap but since then they have signed Hurley on what I understand to be a monster contract and are now reportedly offering huge dollars to JOM.

Blokes with degenerative knees don't go to Etihad tenants if they want to prolong their career.

If JOM was dumb enough to join the Dopers he'd be cactus in not time.

He'd be dumb to join that rabble anyway but your point about Etihad is definitely correct.

The longer he stays quiet the more confident I feel about our chances.

I'm not to sure we will land jaeger now

If O'Meara wanted to join the druggies wouldn't he have nominated them already? Logic tells me this. They're not playing in the finals..whats stopping him.

I suspect Hawthorn are playing finals and he will wait till we finish.

Oh well. Missing out on JOM isn't the end of the world. Woodward was starting to play well at Box Hill again - T Mitchell and a fit Woodward are a good midfield foundation we can add to.

I read that a percentage of the banned players compensation payments would be included in Essendon's salary cap 'at the AFL's discretion'

Do I need to quote the post you stated he is the only capable player to take an overhead mark in our side? You made outlandish posts and now you look the fool. We could have thrown Paul Johnson or Wade Skipper as a ruckman the last 3 years and we still would have won.

BB is bog average, he is a battler. This famed marking you talk about doesn't actually exist.

I would not be looking at his marking stats but rather his contested marking. He is =28th in the league for contested marking with 28 for 2016 and was 30th in 2015. Ahead of Harry Taylor, Tyrone Vickery and Matthew Pavlich. Thats easily break even in my books.

So any actual news over the last couple of days or is it just a lot of feelings being reported...
Lots of feelings.

Essendon fans getting excited by all the Jon Ralph and Damien Barrett click-bait.

Let's be honest the longer it takes for JOM to nominate a club the better it looks for us, regardless of the chat
I'm not worried because our year isn't done

51st for average contested marks in the league this year, we're not hanging out that on that are we? It's not a pass for me. Vickery superior ;)

2015 - Hawks helped out the Bombers last year by getting involved in the Carlisle discussion. Saints got spooked and offered first pick

2016 - Essendon get involved with JOM via PSD, Gold Coast get spooked and accept Hawks offer.

Nice.
Really wasnt too hard to forsee WADA slapping the scum down, them finishing last and getting pick 1 out of things this year.

You can bet a strategy by not just the Hawks would have looked at the possibility of using the scum as leverage like we apparently are now. I think that becomes more obvious with the Essendon response post trade. We had no reason to butter them up after his video went public, yet we continued to play the game to help deliver them a better trade.

Yes, I would say some favourable credit was earnt by GW, and we may be about to cash it in. Of course, the scum being scum and all, it does present them a great opportunity to stab us one in the back, and I'm sure the AFL wouldn't mind seeing that. In the name of equilisation, it would be very much in everybodies interest to see JOM doesnt come to the Hawks.
