We I assume want Mayne for forward pressure Brad is a huge fan of Turners ( Boomers replacement imo) and I think he likes the idea of those two locking the ball in our fwd fifty- hey would be novel. And Garner cannot be relied on at this stage :(

I doubt we'd trade Goldy but he's the one other clubs want, am not sure us packaging up all our cast offs will be seen as a good swap? We want class we'll need to offer class. What's better a great ruck and average midfield or average ruck and class midfield? We're strong down back and our fwd line has promise. Brown is a gun and Wood will be a star, bit players like Daw, add in Thomas, Turner and co/ Our midfield cost us top four this year imo.

Goldy - never just doesn't make any cense as we don't have a replacement, how about Cunnington has a lot of trade value and we have a number of players in that mould, just thowing it out there.

Preuss's potential makes me fine with trading Goldy if we could get a suitable deal. For that though we need to have Maj as well and the fact that we haven't signed him up and it's already finals is worrying.

So a guy who has not once pulled on an AFL jumper makes you feel fine about the idea of losing the best ruck in the comp over the last few years.

OK then.

Well considering Goldy is 28 now I do.

So when he doesn't make it (as the vast majority of those who try don't) we're left without a ruckman, or we ruck Daw who is barely making his way right now.

This sort of list management would be completely irresponsible.

If we actually go down the path of trading Goldy, we'd be getting another ruckman of AFL second string standard it, we'd have to.

People saying we shouldnt get mayne onviously dont see one of our biggest deficiences is locking the ball inside 50 (maynes biggest strengths) and we also get scored against fairly heavily from rebounding from defence! Mayne definetely offers us more then people give him credit for!
I also remember people having a whinge when we got Higgins and waite and let greenwood go i think its fair to say we know whose doing better from that scenario! Point is ill back in our recruiting guys to get the job done!

I agree that we should be bringing in a second string ruckman if we traded Goldy, but that shouldn't mean Preuss isn't given a go.

I would be completely astonished if we traded our best player.

Luckily for you we are not trading Tarrant.

He's made the AA squad once.

Scott Thompson made the team once never went near it again.

How's about you hold fire to make sure it's not a flash in the pan.

Goldy has been our best player over a course of years.

Pointless talking about goldy being traded. He is signed on for about another 3 years. Has anyone ever left a club with that long to run on a contract? Same goes for Cunnington and ziebell. Just stop wasting your finger muscles.

TRAVIS Cloke has met with Richmond, the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne as he plots an escape route out of Collingwood.

The Herald Sun can reveal the out-of-favour Pies goalkicker has held meetings with coaches Damien Hardwick, Luke Beveridge and Brad Scott.

It’s understood Beveridge is the most keen of the trio to lure the 29-year-old, who is desperate to get out of Collingwood.

Scott and the Kangaroos have since ruled out making a play for Cloke after a change in list-management direction led to the controversial delisting of Brent Harvey, as well as Drew Petrie, Michael Firrito and Nick Dal Santo.

The Dogs are in the box seat, with Cloke understood to favour a move to the Whitten Oval in what will most-likely be a two-year deal.

The dual All-Australian would partner Tom Boyd and the returning Stewart Crameri in attack in the absence of the injured Jack Redpath and Beveridge believes his inclusion would help solve his side’s efficiency problems inside 50m.

Any Pies-Dogs trade would be dependent on how much money Collingwood is willing to contribute to Cloke’s 2017 pay packet, which will reportedly be around the $400,000 mark.

Bulldogs midfielder Lin Jong, who toured the Magpies’ facilities in July and remains out of contract, could also be a factor in any deal.

Beveridge has been cagey on the topic of Cloke.

“We seem to be linked to everyone at the moment. I don’t know why,” Beveridge said when asked about the big Magpie this month.

“If we’re becoming that way because it’s been identified we’ve got a good environment, our players enjoy being here and our exploits on the field, that’s brilliant.

“It’s really encouraging, but it hasn’t been instigated by anyone here and I’m not sure where it’s all coming from.”

Cloke had his exit meeting with coach Nathan Buckley yesterday and will leave for a Bali holiday with fiance Rebeccah Panozza next week. He will have a Pies medical assessment tomorrow, but doesn’t need any off-season surgery.

At 29 and with an injury-free year behind him, the Cloke camp believe he has three good years ahead of him.

A 20-disposal, 12-mark, four-goal game in the Pies’ Round 16 win over Greater Western Sydney further encouraged potential suitors that Cloke could go a significant way towards recapturing the form that made him a dominant force in the game.

Hardwick earlier this month did nothing to douse speculation the Tigers could were circling the forward, declaring Cloke a “great player”.

“He’s hurt us a number of times over the course of his career, hasn’t he? I think funnily enough he was probably Alex (Rance’s) biggest nemesis there for a while. Alex has managed to move above him over the last couple of years, but he’s a great player there’s no doubt about that,” Hardwick said.

“But from our point of view we keep our cards pretty close to our chest.”

Cloke was dropped three times in a tumultuous 2016 season that saw him play only 13 games and fall behind Darcy Moore and Jesse White in the forward line pecking order.

He has 441 goals in 246 games after being drafted under the father-son rule in 2004.
