TODD Goldstein is on track to become one of the game’s top earners after cementing his place as football’s No. 1 ruckman last season.

The North Melbourne big man is out of contract and is expected to sign a new deal to stay at Arden St for about $750,000 a season, matching West Coast’s lucrative deal to keep Nic Naitanui on similar terms last year.

Goldstein tops this year’s list of available free agents and has an unrestricted status meaning North Melbourne will be unable to match any offers for the 27-year-old.

Regardless, North is confident of keeping the All-Australian, who will be financially rewarded for his ultra-consistent form over the past three seasons.

Gun ruckmen are in demand, with the Western Bulldogs and Richmond known to be chasing a new lead tall at season’s end.

Geelong secured Zac Smith (Gold Goast), Sydney claimed Callum Sinclair (Sydney) and Essendon signed Matthew Leuenberger (Brisbane) in this year’s trade period. Collingwood also assessed Matthew Kreuzer (Carlton) and the Dogs missed out on Matthew Lobbe (Port Adelaide).

Throw in a new Mazda BT50, surely the club's main sponsor can't be happy about him driving his mum's Rav 4 around!

I'd throw some good coin at Tom Lynch from the GC.
Melbourne boy and would be exactly what we need from 2017 onwards when Drew is probably gone.
I'd love a gun young mid like Kelly or O'Meara but I think with the age if our KP players are more of an immediate issue. As we all know, the big guys take longer to develop.

I think we should cash out now with Goldy....Ruckman ain't worth that much around the ground and if we could bring in 2 first rounders it would go a long way to taking us closer to that elusive flag

:p
Are you serious? don't think that plan is ideal

Free agent list looking thin already. Nick Smith signed on during the week.

Only ones worth mentioning are Rich, Sidebottom, Hooker, Mayne, Kennedy, Nathan Brown and Schofield.

Wouldn't be against Watts for free either.
Other than them there is nothing and likely that a few of those will sign on with their clubs.

List management will have to work hard to lure one of those

Sidebottom or Rich thanks.

We have Wells coming out of contract this year. Be interesting to see how that plays out. If he recovers well and has a good year I hope we offer him a decent contract. Would hate for one of the WA clubs to swoop in with a decent 2-3 year deal.

Harvey
Petrie
Dal Santo
Waite
Firrito
Wells
Gibson
Thomas
Tippett
McKenzie
Garner
Wood
McDonald
Turner
Vickers-Willis

There's the full list for us. Some worrying names there

^ should lock in the young guns ASAP

Should be a few retirements for us end of the year

Woods the interesting one. Hope he works his way into the side, could be a jet. If he can't get a game I see him trying his luck elsewhere.

Or he could be the next Kennedy.
