North will be getting an end of first round compensation pick for Daniel wells so will still head into the draft with 11 and 20ish.

Can't possibly happen

They take three factors , contract size, length and age.

He is just shy of 32 years old. So he needs to make that up in the other numbers. But of course being 32 how long is his contract gonna be? Not as long. So then it would take even bigger numbers. It would take an absolute record breaking contract for a 32 yr old to get band 2 compo. It won't happen for a 32 year old player who has had a history of injury.

The age is a factor but he will become a top 3 highest paid player at Collingwood next year, which will favour an end of first round pick to North.

Im struggling to think of anyone besides Pendles who would be on over 500k next year at collingwood next year, especially with treloars back ended deal.

No chance wells becomes a top 3 paid player at the pies

I'm calling it. Band 4 compo at the very best. I'm expecting that as we have seen previously they will decide that that many years of service to a club is dues done and paid. I don't think we will ever see any player over 30 get more than a 3rd round pick, and nor should they. It's much different to a player leaving in his prime after years of development from his club that drafted him.

Would love Cutler to stay at Brisbane, it is hard to watch other clubs pick off their good young players.

Mostly because that could be us in a few years if we don't get it right.
i think that is already you guys. talent leaving every year. you won't be as bad as Brisbane, but expect to have clubs come at your players even harder.

Wells will be on $1.8m over three years with most of it front ended. Look at their list. He will be a top 3 earner at the pies. Pretty sure the AFL don't take injury history into account when making compo decisions lol

Brisbane's defence will be very good in a couple of years time, it's just really inexperienced. If you have a back 6 like:

Paparone - Andrews - Gardiner
Lester - McStay - Cutler

You have an almost perfect back 6. All of them are capable of playing tall (except maybe Lester), all of them are athletic and they're usually pretty good distributors (except Paparone. Bloke should be banned from kicking anything other than long down the line). Problem is only one has played more than 50 games.

Pick 3 and 2017 2nd round pick for mccarthy , pick 8 and 16.

Ballanyne and freo 3rd for eagles 3rd round pick and 2nd tound pick

Kersten for eagles 3rd round pick.

Silvagni for Brisbanes 3rd round pick.

Conca for Suban.

Hill for eagles 2nd round pick.

Brisbane just need time and to hold onto as many of the kids as they can.... Developing a good list up there, just need a coach to teach and develop. Every year I suspect a few talented youngsters will pop up and cement a permanent place in the 22, meaning there are less and less holes in the list that they need to fill. Short term-ism shouldn't be the aim in this trade period.

You suggesting Brad Hill to the Eagles, take Joshs spot when he is delisted.

We're probably a little top heavy in our defense prefer McStay forward with Watson or Hammelmann at CHB

I reckon it will be a similar compo to Malceski who had a 3 year 500k+ contract which netted us an end if 2nd round I think it was.

On Nexus 6P using BigFooty.com mobile app

Malceski got band 3 (mid second round). Compo has probably decreased a bit since then.

Wells would be on more than Malceski per year, but TPP would have increased around 10-15% (I'm not sure on this) over two years which makes the difference pretty small.

Ages at the time of FA:
Wells 31 yrs 8 months
Malceski 30 yrs 2 months

Not an insignificant difference.

So band 3 possible, but could easily be band 4.
