North will be getting an end of first round compensation pick for Daniel wells so will still head into the draft with 11 and 20ish.
Can't possibly happen
They take three factors , contract size, length and age.
He is just shy of 32 years old. So he needs to make that up in the other numbers. But of course being 32 how long is his contract gonna be? Not as long. So then it would take even bigger numbers. It would take an absolute record breaking contract for a 32 yr old to get band 2 compo. It won't happen for a 32 year old player who has had a history of injury.
The age is a factor but he will become a top 3 highest paid player at Collingwood next year, which will favour an end of first round pick to North.
Im struggling to think of anyone besides Pendles who would be on over 500k next year at collingwood next year, especially with treloars back ended deal.
No chance wells becomes a top 3 paid player at the pies
I'm calling it. Band 4 compo at the very best. I'm expecting that as we have seen previously they will decide that that many years of service to a club is dues done and paid. I don't think we will ever see any player over 30 get more than a 3rd round pick, and nor should they. It's much different to a player leaving in his prime after years of development from his club that drafted him.
