Demons are well stocked on the inside, What they lack severely is outside class, Gaff aids this issue big time. Take emotion out of it and it's a trade the Demons win IMO.
Obviously the Eagles would only consider the trade if Gaff wanted out.

They can cover the loss of Brayshaw quite easily, They need an outside player.
Remember the purpose of this thread is Hypothetical and this is only my opinion, Just trying to drum up some back and forth.

No it's a trade you don't do. Elite insides are worth their weight in gold- look at how bad your side has been on the inside which to be fair has been addressed to a point, and Petrraca can play outside anyway. Brayshaw when he develops is in Melbournes best side. It is a silly trade, serves no purpose to either side, and WC won't let Gaff go when they are in their premiership window.
I would love Gaff at the Dees but i be very surprised if left and i haven't heard of him being homesick or anything, But i still hope the club has asked the question if by some chance he wanted to come to Melbourne i don't think we would trade out 1 of our talented young players think we would just trade out draft picks.

Melbourne in 2017 would be a better side with Gaff in it than Brayshaw, No doubt in my mind, That's why I proposed the trade.
West coasts willingness is the biggest hurdle I agree, Only possible if Gaff wanted out and chose the demons.

You can get a cheaper outsider winger and not sell the farm like you are suggesting. You are selling a number 3 pick (who has shown quality, so he's not a Cale Morton pick) for another number 3 pick (albeit an AA). No reason Brayshaw won't win multiple AA's himself.

How is it selling the farm? Brayshaw can be covered quite easily from a demons perspective IMO, If they could get Gaff in they'd be stupid not to do it.
You need to give up quality to get quality.
Again Eagles would rather keep Gaff over Brayshaw and rightly so.

You don't give away a top selection for another one, that is a pointless sideway trade. Get a cheaper winger. Outside wingers are the easiest of the lot to find, Hawthorn picked up Brad Hill mid draft, Issac Smith was a VFL wingman before he was drafter with their late first. You don't have to sell one of your best prospects to get a wingman. Trust your recruiters to do their job and draft one through the usual means.

I know it's a hypothetical, but I couldn't see Brayshaw wanting to leave. If gaff leaves I think we would be happy with draft picks in return.

You're not going to find a better Wingman than Gaff ready for the 2017 season, If the chance was there and it was Gaff for Brayshaw you'd be mad to not take it.
In my opinion, I understand you have yours as well.

Brayshaw, assuming no lasting concussion issues. I'd rate gaff and Brayshaw at around pick 5 value. Gaff's durability comes into that valuation.
