Its interesting to think about the difference in currency between the two. Both have had big problems with injury with O'meara having more runs on the board in regards to performance. I would say O'meara has more ceiling but I suppose you would have to weigh up if they would be the same players once they are fully recovered from the injuries. I would probably gamble more on O'meara as I think he has shown more in his short time and looks to be the better player of the two. I would be willing to give a top 5 pick for O'meara but not for Crouch, would probably put him in more the 10-15 pick range. Still looks to be a good player but obviously hasn't been exposed at the higher level as much and is very much still a gamble.

Each to there own. But if Gold Coast are picking up pick 5 for o'meara and I'm the crows, I'm expecting the same for crouch.

The argument for o'meara having a higher ceiling than crouch is minimal at best. The only reason o'meara beat him in the rising star is because he played more games imo.

Well there is that, plus the fact he is as good....
Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Crouch a Priddis type & O'Meara more a Treloar/ Pendlebury type?
In that case, I'd see O'Meara with a higher ceiling, despite Crouch being very good

Pretty much.
O'meara is better on the outside but can win his own ball.
Crouch is better on the inside but uses it well on the outside.
I've been told before the draft both were rated elite in all categories.

Seeing it's a hypothetical thread and the 'Gap Year' mob return next year and the Essendon Heirarchy think you'll have a good crack at it next year, how bout Rockliff and Freeman (insert other if need be) for pick 1?

Unless Jaeger gets on the park and plays some good footy, I cannot see any more than one first round pick going to GCS and as I reckon he'll end up at Hawthorn, that's probably pick 15-18. If he gets on, there may be something else thrown in like steak knives or a later pick; he's proved he can compete at the highest level and I think he still has significant value.
The Hawks swoop again. JOM could be a great addition. Could be a bust if he doesn't get over his injuries though. Will be stunned if Hawthorn pick him up. I got faith in Wright and his team and Clarko to make the right decision

Always see O'Meara being linked to Hawthorn cant see how they can get him with so little trade currency he's easily worth a top 5 pick.
He aint worth a top 5 pick with his injuries. Maybe our 1st + 2nd at most.
Hawthorn BF board is happy to offer up players like Litherland and Hill(for the right currency)
Some other Victorian teams like Geelong, Melbourne, Collingwood have used this years 1st rounder and St Kilda and Richmond have used their 2nd rounders.
Hawthorn have the currency and cap space to get JOM imo.
Think we're a big chance to nab JOM.

I'm not opposed to giving up pick 1 but it would have to be for something well worth it.

Or we could just take him in the PSD:D

Just joking, he will end up a Hawk IMO

There's no guarantee you will have pick 1 I think it will come done to the Essendon vs Lions game in round 18 a game I think you guys can win
You not watching tonight.
U15 schoolboys would put up more fight than these pea hearts tonight.
Most gutless effort I've seen.
We are getting worse by the week

We can't win away and have only beat the Suns we are getting just a worse as you guys are every weekend you guys always beat us at Etihad

Nah uh, your dad would destroy my dad.

The JOM to Hawks rumor has been around for a while now, personally I am skeptical as JOM is very mature young man that will of worked out all the angles. I can see him understanding that he can maximise his earning potential in Melbourne but will be looking for premiership success. The Hawks are now on the wrong side of that ledger, no offense but every run comes to an end. I think he would be looking at the Swans or Eagles thinking that he could be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Personally I hope he stays but wish him the best if he thinks the pastures are greener elsewhere.
