If Mitchell and Lewis both go, it's a massive and unexpected changing of the guard at Hawthorn. Truth is though, both those guys are past the peak of their powers.
If you bring in JOM and T Mitchell, it's actually some pretty good manoeuvring.
From what I can gather from reports, to bring in Tom Mitchell and O'Meara it's basically costing them Sam Mitchell, Lewis (assuming he bails), Hartung, Whitecross, This years first and second round picks and next years first. That manoeuvring is at a very heavy cost. They will be heavily reliant on picking up top free agents to give them any kind of depth, particularly with the likes of Hodge, Burgoyne and Gibson in their twilight years as well. They're gonna need O'Meara to be healthy for the next decade.
Just turned 30! Probably 2 years of decent footy left.
We will be shifting to do 2 things -
1. Improve our draft position which will be quite poor after the JOM deal
2. Clear more space to chase another target outside of JOM
By just turned, you mean six months ago? Will be 31 early next season. I would still like him but it would be through third and fourth round pick swaps.
